This spot was pretty packed on a Friday night. They offer a variety of flavors it's quite hard to pick just one. I ordered a small cup which comes with two scoops of ice cream. I ordered a scoop of cherry vanilla and s'mores. The cherry vanilla was okay, it just tasted like maraschino cherries mixed with vanilla. I was pleasantly surprised by the s'mores which had chunks of graham crackers and marshmallows. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Luckily there's ample seating in front of the windows as well as tables on the side of the parking lot. Great spot to enjoy a night time treat. read more

All aboard the Lil' Caboose for delicious ice cream at reasonable prices and a playground to entertain the little ones. The strawberry ice cream was creamy and full of chunks of strawberry. As good as any you'll find on the Cape. The sugar cone was a legit cone and not the tiny styrofoam ones. The kiddie size was actually a small size at most places and under $5. Lots of flavors to choose from including vegan options. The peanut butter and chocolate vegan flavor was mentioned as delicious. What sets Lil Caboose from other ice cream spots is the playground and train theme (which includes an actual train car and train play set). The playground is great for toddlers and younger kids. The train play set is fun to climb and drive and there is a slide with climbing wall and swings. Best of all, the playground is in sand so it's almost like being on the beach. Lots of benches for outdoor seating including a large tent for shade. Plenty of parking and a porta potty for a bathroom. Looks like they may have gotten new owners a few years ago and really cleaned things up. read more

THE PERFECT SWEET TREAT! Line moves so quick and there are sooo many flavors you can choose from! I would come back here every time I visit Cape Cod! The scoops of ice cream are MASSIVE, one scoop would've been enough but of course i wanted to try as many flavors as I could! This place has been a long-time favorite of mine and my families, as I can remember coming here as growing up. They have so many flavors on the board and the prices are always good. For the last 25+ years that I've been coming here this has always been my favorite spot. The one thing that this place really lacks is seating although they have seating off to the side, they really should offer some type of seating in the front in the driveway area. This place would be a little bit more welcoming in the creamery down the street would not steal business from them. Needless to say the caboose has always been a favorite of mine. It's one of Cape Cod's treasures that many have forgotten, whenever I can make it up to the Cape I like to stop by the spot and enjoy some of my memories as a child. We went to Lil' Caboose, a place that my friend used to go to growing up. It's a stand that you walk up to. The smallest sized ice cream is HUGE. Went to this ice cream shop after dinner and it was not too busy compared to the other ice cream shops. Well, there was a reason. They had a ton of cool flavors to choose from and the staff was very nice. I had the moose tracks and it was good, just about like everyone else's, nothing better. Big chunks and pieces of chips and peanut butter cups, good flavor and creamy. My wife had the mocha chip and there was no mocha flavor what so ever and the chocolate ice cream barely had any flavor either. There were hardly any chips and the ice cream was gummy and not creamy. It was not cheap either. The seating area was ok, nothing great. The caboose was cool, but you could not really see it too well and it was not on display to look at. I would try another place in the future, just on the quality of ice cream. read more

I found the ice cream to be expensive and small portion sizes. $8 for a sundae I expected more ice cream then I was given. I got smores ice cream with tasted like absolutely nothing, it didn't taste like a smores!! No marshmallow, no chocolate, no graham cracker... I'm confused as to why they named it smores??? I got a brownie sundae which tasted more like chocolate cake than a brownie. Wouldn't go back here. read more
