Went for the classic New York slices and liked them enough to make it my toddlers first NYC slice! So now we have history so have to come back again. Ray Romano eats here too based on the pic on the wall. He's Italian too, I think...so it must be legit, right? But enough about Ray, you wanna know about the pizza. The slices are good says my wife, a new Yorker of 30 years. That's good enough for me. But hold up, we also got the grandma slice on a whim. Whoa! I liked the regular slices. But I LOVED the grandma slice! It was one of the best I have ever had. The owner was kind and friendly in the most new Yorker kinda way. Sounded like Jon Stewart but Italian. I dig it. The guys working the kitchen messed up on our order. Once they realized their mistake, they fixed it by giving us the correct slices, letting us keep the wrong ones on the house. I've been going to Lillian's since it was owned by the original older couple. They either passed it down to the next generation or sold it, but it stayed great until recently. I'm not sure if it's been sold again, but the quality and value have definitely declined. One thing I hated most is when restaurants start to charge more and give you less. I always order the same few pies, so I can really tell the difference in taste and quality. It's disappointing because my family loved this place. I've never eaten here in person, but I've taken plenty to go. My parents love NY style pizza (they live in the South), and this is the place they always want me to order it from. They're great, and the service is phenomenal. I wanted to comment about their catering, because they shined here. I had my kid's birthday party over at Dream City and needed to order pizza. We also had a guest who was lactose-intolerant, and another who was gluten-free. My son also has an egg allergy, so when I called to confirm that there was no egg in their pizza dough, they confirmed that it was correct. Some old school NY pizza joints don't appreciate this question, but the owner here was kind and understood exactly why I would want to ask this question. They also made sure that my guest who was lactose-intolerant wouldn't have a pasta dish made with any butter or milk. They delivered the 8 pies, gluten free personal pizza, and pasta for my lactose-intolerant guest right on time. I had placed the order a few days before, so I was worried about them being on time, but that wasn't an issue at all. Everyone raved about the pies, and our guests with the food intolerances were happy with their food, too. The delivery driver was pleasant and made sure things went where they needed to. A very solid local neighborhood spot. Found this place from a Yelp search and learned it has been around for a long time and it has a very strong following. I like this place because it has a very specific neighborhood pizzeria feel to it and I love that. The food: Sicilian- I don't normally like pies fresh out of the oven since I like the bottom to be crispy, but I was really impressed with the square. The biggest thing that stood out was their very flavorful tomato sauce. It had a very robust flavor with a nice tang, the dough was nice and fluffy, the dough had good texture. Regular Slice- It's a nice classic NY slice. Good sauce, good cheese, good texture. I am a fan Broccoli Pinwheel- This pinwheel was very different from other pinwheels I have tried, the one here wasn't thick like other places but the one here was almost flat and was really good. I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed the broccoli pinwheel because it is normally an item that is an afterthought for me but I would totally order it again. I've ordered takeout from Lillian Pizzeria a bunch of times. Our go-to order is normally an eggplant and a chicken parm. hero. The chicken parm hero is really good, but their eggplant is on another level. Seriously, it's some of the best eggplant I've ever had. Their broccoli pinwheels are also really good. I always get one of those when we order, and my husband gets a pepperoni one. I've always done takeout, but the place itself is nice. It's clean and easy to grab a table. The staff is kind and hardworking. They are a bit out of the village of Forest Hills, but they are close to the stadium if you're in the area for a concert. read more

I'm new to Forest Hills and I understand that this is an old reliable neighborhood place, under recently new mgt. Lenny could not have been friendlier to me and my girlfriend, he made contact with all the people at the tables; he has a background in restaurant management and that's a big thing, "touching the tables". My girlfriend has a gluten sensitivity so he made her a pizza with artichoke flour. The crust was light, and crisp, but not burned on the bottom, (yuck). The sauce had great flavor and the cheese was delicious. She has been in FH for 5 years and now she is a convert to Lillian. We ordered their Grandma Pie and tried some of their infamous broccoli pinwheels. At first I wasn't a big fan of either since the pinwheel came back semi soggy and Grandma's sauce for the pie was a bit saltier then expected. But like many other pizza's. You got to have it fresh & hot. I popped it in the oven for a few minutes to see if there was a difference. Definitely did ! The ooey, gooeyness of the cheese and the sauce had a better balance and a tint of a crunch which I liked. Meh! I must admit the fact that Ray Romano was somehow associated with this pizzeria, was the first draw to visiting. I used to be a fan of his show early on but towards the end it grew to be an annoyance. It just seemed inconceivable that,... Wait, I'm reviewing Lillian's not the show right? Ok back to Lillian's,.... Lillian's is definitely a slice from yesteryears complete with the pool of grease on each slice that requires three or four napkins to mop up. There isn't anything distinguishable in regards to the pizza here. Nothing stands out. It definitely brings me back to the way pizza used to be a long long long time ago around the city. It serves as a reminder to how far we've come. I don't come here very much for the pizza but I do come for these broccoli pinwheels that are somewhat addicting and cheap! They used to be $1 and may have been raised to $1.50 since the last time I visited. Every time I visit I have to grab 4-5 of these to go. They make a great snack out of the fridge. It's a mom and pop neighborhood shop and most if not all the times I've visited both mom and pop are there. Let me start off by saying that my family and I have been Lillian's pizzeria fans for over 4 years now. I just recently noticed Lillian's Pizzeria on Uber Eats, which made me excited, because their pizza is so good and since we moved to the north side of the boulevard it's been a bit of a trek to get their pizza, but so worth it. Then I was skeptical, because Lillian and Tony are old school and would never just start delivering without something major happening and I was right, they sold the shop! I looked up reviews to see if things have changed and came across a few mixed reviews on FB about the service and the food. After reading mostly bad reviews, I decided to take the plunge and decided for myself. So, I can't speak to the service, but I can tell you that unfortunately the Pizza is no longer that amazing pizza that Lillian and Tony (and the Latin guys) made. Best pizzeria in Fo' Hills. It's actually tough to decide which slice is better between here and A&J's, but the overall experience and the rest of the food is definitely the best at Lillian. The Chicken Parm and Spaghetti here is amazing and tastes like nothing you can get anywhere else. You can taste how fresh and homemade it is, and you can even see them making the pasta fresh in the pasta maker in the open kitchen near the back. The garlic knots (available with pepperoni too) are also amazing. This place has been family owned for years and years - it's still the same cute little couple running things since I used to come here 20 years ago. I do miss the skipping jukebox and arcade games they used to have back in the good old days, but the food is still just as good and the atmosphere is still just as nice and welcoming. read more
