I've always seen this place in passing and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did because it was great. The shop is a little small but there's a decent amount of seating inside and outside. The shop is decked with halloween decor and brought it in a nice fall ambiance. The two girls who helped us were really sweet and helpful and gave us all the time we needed to decide what to order because there was so much to choose from! We ended up just buying one frosted cinnamon roll (which the cashier was nice enough to ask if we wanted it wrapped to-go or warmed to eat at the moment - thanks for asking that!) and it did not disappoint. I live all the way in Sacramento so of course I had to grab a pack of the minis for the road! I know the area can be very busy but for a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't too bad and the shop wasn't too crowded. I've been here a handful of times now because they have vegan cinnamon rolls and since Rock n' Roll donuts closed, they are basically the only place in cannery row to get some sort of fun breakfast pastry that is vegan. So props to Lilly Mae's for that. The rolls are always delicious and the service has always been fine. Not over the top, but fine. This felt odd since they were on the menu and nothing was noted for customers to see. We opted for a bagel instead and sat down. Time went by and I went up to inquire and was told it was almost done. When our name was called 10 minutes later we retrieved it and this bagel was one you can purchase from a supermarket...for $10 that seems ridiculous. It was also very small and burned. As we were leaving we noticed them drop coffee lids all over the floor, meticulously pic them all up and then place all but 3 back with the others to be used. But that's where the excitement ended. The workers were really young (high school) and though they were friendly, they lacked interactive skills. They said, "hi, may I help you!" but it looking at their faces and hearing their voice, knew it was "work," for them. We decided to order the sugar free roll and had them heat it up. We went outside and grabbed a table and was hoping to enjoy an nice cinnamon roll. The flavor was there but the roll kept falling apart. It was difficult to cut because it just crumbled. The topping which was in a ramekin was also powdery. Needless to say, we didn't eat the whole thing. We came near the late evening to grab a cinnamon roll and donut. Even though the tray brought out was new when I went to eat it after it was heated it was a bit dry and stale. The worst was the donut. We had a chocolate donut right after we purchased and originally asked for the small one but got the large one. After my child ate it, their stomach began to bubble.
