This place is right out of 1969- quite literally a rock music museum that happens to sell ice cream. The ice cream was Tillamook brand with several flavor choices. I opted for the apple pie. So... We were excited to come here. 6 hour drive from socal, And the place was pretty cool! .... BUT... the older gentleman was not in the best mood. We asked for a double scoop half and half and he said he doesn't do that, then slammed the cup on the counter in front of me with my child. He then apologized at the register saying it was past his bedtime which was nice of him to but that doesn't change the fact it happened. But the reason I'm writing this review is because another customer came in right behind us and asked for a double scoop half and half and he did it and looked at me like he knew it was wrong. He is older so I understand frustration of being 9pm and "past his bedtime" but then he should close the shop at 8pm. When I first approached the shop it was dark outside and inside, so I wasn't sure if it was open. I tried the door and was able to get in after which someone appeared to greet me. Yes, the place is cluttered with lots (and I mean lots) of Beatles and other rock music items and not really spaced for hanging out. Notes from others suggest that this store sells Lappert's ice cream and sorbets. A comparison of available flavors with the Lappert's website supports that similarity. Having been here, I can't speak to the ice cream manufacturer, but I am certain that the ice cream is mass produced, not homemade. And the flavors I tasted, cookie dough, black cherry, and mint chocolate chip, weren't half as good as Ben and Jerry's or Kilwin's by comparison. The store itself looks like it opened in 1963 simultaneous with the release of "Meet the Beatles" and hasn't been well-cleaned since. It has, however, been progressively covered with memorabilia. Now it looks like a 60's vinyl record store that exploded. The novelty of its retro look and charming British Invasion and Woodstock era music wore off 10 years ago long after the album covers on the walls yellowed. Finally, I appreciate the fact that locals support the store and its owner by overlooking the wear and tear and focusing on the "antique" decor and theme.
