After 42 years of somewhere between mediocre to down right aweful Passover desserts we finally found a great Passover dessert from Lilly's ( which was sold at our near by Whole Foods in Chicago ). A friend bought me two packages of the chocolate dipped macaroons for a Passover seder (purchased at a small store in Astoria, Queens). I never tasted anything so delicious and they were Parve as well as Kosher. I had purchased a package of chocolate covered macaroons from Fresh Direct myself, and they were positively sickly compared to Lilly's. I cannot recommend Lilly's enough. I absolutely love the Raspberry Rugelach bite-size (2 bites) pastries, BUT...an inflationary trick has been put upon us which does not set well with me. All companies are faced with either raising their prices or cutting back on the size/volume/quantity of the product for the same price. The later applies here. I was surprised when I noticed it, but when I opened a new plastic container of Rugelach a couple of months ago, something seemed "off." There seems to have been fewer pieces in the container. So I counted them: "11" not "12", and a couple of times, there were only "10" pieces. They either have an automation problem that is not dispensing the appropriate number of pieces into the container, or more likely, the quantity per container has been lowered by management, whether the containers are filled by automation or manually. I feel cheated. If you really can't provide the one extra piece of pastry at the same price, then raise the price 7-8%...whatever inflation has been averaging. This reminds me of the mid/late 1970's when wine makers went to a 750ml bottle. Rather than raise the price of the wine and give us what we wanted in terms of "volume", they kept the price lower, or with a smaller price increase, but they cut back on the volume of wine you got for the money. So...in terms of quality and taste of the Rugelach product...they get 5 Stars, but in terms of the game being played with getting less for our money...they get 3 Stars, which averages at the 4-Star rating I gave. read more

I bought the Lilly's Cinnamon Babka from Whole Foods. It is absolutely the best! I love everything about it!

I was never a fan of 'black and white' cookies until I tried Lilly's Homestyle Bake Shop's. They sell in Stop & Shop and they literally fly off of the shelves for good reason ... they're absolutely DELICIOUS! Fresh and they melt in your mouth. I'm happy that they offer mail order delivery for their products...definitely give them a try ... you won't be disappointed! read more

Purchased a $20. cake from ShopRite, Lilly's Gluten Free Cake - the cake was for a birthday party (the person has ciliac disease) The cake was defrosted in the refregiator as per the bakers directions (they are pre-frozen). Two slices later, the cake's sour smell hit my nose - we tried to taste it, it was bad. Whatever their filling, it was soured. The $20. cake when into the trash - We sent Lillys customer service an email letting them know the problem - to date, they STILL have not addressed it. Unless you have money to burn, DO NOT purchase Lilly's baked goods. They do NOT stand by their products. read more

I bought a Lilly's jellyroll from Ralph's here in Palm Springs. The $12 price tag seemed high, but I hadn't had a good jellyroll in years. I still haven't had a good jellyroll in years. At any price, this jellyroll wasn't good, but for $12, I was expecting much more. It tasted like sweet cardboard. Maybe the problem was that the jellyroll was "gluten free." I'm not really sure whether jellyrolls are normally gluten free and whether advertising it as such was just a gimmick. The jellyroll was also labeled as kosher, so maybe no gluten is a requirement. In any case, a jellyroll may be one of those items that just isn't good without gluten. read more

Grew up in Brooklyn and haven't been back for several years. Saw the Babka in my local publix in rural Georgia, which was a big surprise and the taste brought back fond memories of grandma's cooking. While Publix never has the Jewish Holiday (Hanukkah, Pesach) from it's weekly ad in this store, glad they somehow decided to put the Babka on display, May have to order other items directly. read more

Gf & I bought one of Lilly's chocolate babkas (no "lesser" cinnamon babkas for us--though I'm sure Lilly's cinnamon babkas are top notch!) at a Whole Foods in Santa Cruz, CA. I had an issue with one loaf (that I bought in Nevada where I live), I wrote TJs website, and the manager at Lilly's called me a few days later to personally acknowledge the problem and sent me a fresh babka via UPS 3-day! read more

Five stars for baking a truly delicious VEGAN rugelah! Moist, rich, tasty. They did it. Without butter. Amazing. I highly recommend anyone vegan or with a vegan friend to try these. I get them at Whole Foods, so of course they cost a ridiculous amount. But I brought them over to an elderly vegan relative's house as a treat, and he nearly plotzed. I think NOT! I also bought this beautiful looking Gluten Free Soft Delicious Fancy Raspberry Cake with the $19.99 price tag from Shop Rite that hit the garbage with less than a forth of the cake being eaten. It was purchased on 9/5/18 and was in the garbage on 9/6/18. The sell by date was 10/29/18. The beautiful icing never softened up and the chocolate cake was dry, not moist. Truly a waste of hard earned money. I really thought being from Brooklyn, NY it with be one of those cakes to-die-for. read more

I am not jewish but I love Hamantaschen. I have made it but it is difficult and time consuming. I went into the Giant at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware before Passover and there was a stack of boxes of Assorted Hamantaschen. I bought two - then I went back and bought four more and froze them. I went back two days before Passover but they were all gone. They are the best I have ever tasted. My box had two poppyseed, two apricot, two berry and two raspberry. The "cookie" was more like a shortbread and just delicious. They freeze so well and nothing is as good as a Lilly's Hamantaschen and a cup of coffee! Thank you Lilly's Homestyle Bake Shop. Wonderful babkas! I've tried the chocolate and the cinnamon babkas and they're absolutely delicious. The real traditional babka one doesn't see anymore. They're just sweet enough, not overly sweet like some other products on the market that are just inedible. And they're priced reasonably at Fairway. read more

I was in Boston a few days ago and, for some reason, someone brought home the cinnamon babka. Not even sure if I've ever had it before, but it was excellent. I was in a room full of babka novices and the loaf was gone in about twenty minutes. I have no idea whether this is what babka is supposed to taste like or where it ranks in comparison to other babkas -- but it's hard to imagine that any other brand could be significantly better. If there is a brand significantly better then I need to find it! read more
