First time trying this location. The chow mein is good flavor. Good portion for the chow mein. I also got kung pow beef that was way too spicy after I asked it to be not spicy, so I could not eat it. Not much meat and lots of veggies. When I dumped it out. Again only could have one bite since too spicy. I am glad I tried the food but probably won't be going back especially after being hungry 1 hour after eating all the chow mein. Must have msg in the food. Such a shame after three different people told me go to in and try it while I was looking at the menu outside. It was $32 for the beef chow mein and kung pow with beef. read more

I've ate at City Chopsticks twice now and do enjoy the food! Service is good and both times I visited I was seated right away. It's never overwhelmingly busy and the inside is very clean. The food comes out pretty fast at the portions are big! This is definitely a place where you want to eat family style to try different dishes! We typically order a side of rice to share with the table and share our dishes. As far as taste goes, the food is well seasoned and always tastes like it went straight from the pan to my plate. My favorite dishes so far have been the spicy basil chicken and cashew chicken. The spicy basil chicken does have a nice kick to it, but it's not super spicy (which I appreciate). Regrettably it tasted about as bland as boiled beans, no fire whatsoever and not a single chili pepper in sight. * higher ratio of onions to beef than I expected. This was my first time eating at City Chopsticks. The ambience was very clean and tidy, and the menu selection was good--and reasonably priced for Sonoma County. The servers were all male, which I noticed caused a bit of disturbance with a couple of customers. They were brisk and did not completely understand some of the female customers' requests while also acting more friendly and conversational with male customers. Very odd! Other than these observations, the food was very good, although for the chicken eggplant dish, I asked for "mild" and it still had plenty of pepper flakes on it. Spicy-wise, the dish was tolerable, so I let it go. In traditional style, fortune cookies are served at the end of the meal. These were in plastic pouches, something many Chinese restaurants are moving away from. It would be nice to see City Chopsticks take up this practice. We go to our favorite restaurants here the SF Peninsula, and we think this one tops those for the best Chinese American style food. The vegtable fried rice is by far the best I have ever tasted. We had the Wanton Soup, excellent, and Sweet and Sour Pork also excellent. But the best was the Lobster sauce with Prawns. That sauce was amazing made with white wine. We had excellent service also. The owner of City Chopsticks should hire a manager and not show at his restaurant because HIS UNPROFESSIONALISM IS DESTROYING HIS BUSINESS. I ordered food to go that had a LOT oF FLUID in it. It was put in a box, I got home, pulled it out of the bag and the bottom gave way and it landed on the floor. The next time I asked for their storage options for a lot of fluid. Another time, he started YELLING in the dining room at his employee. Then he has his employees push a vacuum cleaner around while you are eating. There are floor cleaning tools that have no electricity and hence no sound. I said something about it and was treated poorly. The LAST TIME my friend, in her 80's and I come in, few customers there, plenty of seating. We are seThey had other options for a large group but still asked us to move. This "group" never showed. I'd asked for separate checks. that wasn't done, UNTIL I ASKED A SECOND TIME, after they'd already brought me the first bill. Then a waitress brought cookies and she put the bills under the cookie tray so I didn't see them. WE WAITED AND WAITED, I went to the counter and asked for the bill, the owner just glared at me, eventually the waitress brought it to the cash register and I said something about the service and HE BLEW UP AND (AGAIN) YELLED THAT EVERY TIME I CAME IN THERE THERE WAS A PROBLEM!! Well, not every time, I'd only brought up the vacuum cleaner twice, and none of the rest of this, but yes, he's right. They do not provide an atmosphere where people can go in relax and enjoy their food. I don't expect to hear the restaurant staff being yelled at in the middle of the dining room, take them to the back room and keep your voice down. Do not vacuum with a noisy vacuum next to people dining. Package take out food in appropriate containers, I wasn't their 1st customer to get take out. Do not YELL AT dissatisfied customers because even if you don't care about them coming back to your business, you may loose the people currently dining in your restaurant who didn't come there to hear the owner YELLING (EVER)!!!! I wanted to love this place, a friend recommended it and said that it was equal to anything in San francisco which has a large Chinese community and MANY restaurants. It was Easter Sunday and we thought we would enjoy something different the usual ham and sides. I decided to order things that are ubiqutous to most menus for comparison sake and here is how it measured up. I am giving it two stars but wow what a letdown! 1. Mongoian beef. Very tasty a nice ratio of beef to vegetables and well seasoned. 2. Orange Chicken; It was crispy and the sauce was perfect not too sweet and a nice delicate orange flavor. 3. Deluxe vegetables; I can't complain but it was nothing to get excited about, sauce was meh and selection of vegetables very mundane nothing Deluxe that I could see. 4. Shredded pork with garlic sauce; pretty bad. Barely any pork, tons of onions and chunks of whole raw garlic. The sauce was some glop that tasted like a sweet vinegar thing. It was very unappetizing. 5. Combination Chow Mein; It's pretty hard to ruin chow mein but somehow they managed it! We paid thirteen dollars of a pile of noodles and three shrimp. I went digging through the pile and managed to find one very small piece of chicken and something that I guessed was grey pork and a scant amount of cabbage. It was REALLY bad. Total was $80 dollars. I called and spoke to David, told him about the chow mein and he said there "should be a combination of meat in there, thanks for calling." and hung up on me. First time here. We decided to order food to go since we have A/C at home and it was a baking hot day. By the way, they have a very good A/C in their restaurant. There is no outdoor dining. We ordered chicken chow mein, veggie spring rolls and lemon chicken. It was all very good. The lemon chicken was pieces of fried chicken with a lemon sauce. I prefer chicken breasts that have been fried and thinly sliced. My daughter thought the chow mein had a bit too much oil in it. It wasn't bad. It's hard to give an accurate review when taking food to go. The food is not going to be as hot and as fresh as you'd like. I will be back to try to some food at the restaurant. read more
