Lily Kai has always been a favorite until today. The food was excellent as always. The wait staff not so much Our waitress started out by not being very friendly .... No smile....not welcoming.... But then when she delivered our food she changed and was nice. While trying to eat our food. The bus lady came to our table 3 times to ask if we wanted a box when we weren't even half finished with our meal. We finally felt so rushed we decided to leave and she came back to clear the table and broke a water glass full of water on our table and got my friend all wet. I'll say I have not tried many, most just in Sonoma valley itself which is only two Chinese places... but I lived in San Francisco and the east bay for 20 years so I've had good Chinese. These rice wrappers were the lightest and most tasty ever. It was a super generous portion of Hoison sauce - most skimp a bit on this. The actual Mu Shu was juicy, flavorful and so delicious. Dine experience. Clean, busy and fast. Met up with a friend while passing through and split the pot stickers and crab rangoons. Both were delish! We both agreed that the crab tasted real. Seeing the tables around us, the entrees looked sizable and smelled great! We ordered Honey Walnut Shrimp and the General Chicken with a side of Veggie Chow Mein. I picked up an to go order the other night after work. I ordered the chicken noodle and manchuian beef since everyone on Yelp was having a good review on it. However, I m very disappointed about the Manchuian beef. The beef was hard to chew on and the outside batter was falling apart. So end up I only finished half of the dish and have to discard the rest. The 2 stars was for the chicken noodle which I think it was very good. We stopped there for lunch based on the reviews. Good ambiance, great menu but average food and below average service. The staff, especially the hostess, was borderline rude but with some patience we warmed up our server. We had shrimp dumplings (excellent), basil chicken (ok) and not-on-the-menu orange beef (meh). One of the better chinese foods in Petaluma, if not best. I've been here 3-4 times and each time service, food quality, and authenticity has been amazing. I do have to point out that they try to lean towards asian fusion, though successfully. For example, their chicken salad has fried chicken strips, but uses an asian dressing. Their crab rangoons (my absolute favorite!) is a little sweet and not as rich and heavy as the usual western ones. However, they always manage to pull it off! Everything I've had seems to hit the mark, such as the chow mein, broccoli beef, walnut shrimp, etc. I've taken friends and family here even though we live over an hour away - we usually just make a day trip out of it and find things to do in the area. read more

Is it the best ever - no but is it the most consistent and tasty place in Petaluma - well yes. Starting with the fact that they have cooks from different regions in China which gives their menu a real basis in actual Chinese food. Couple that with fresh ingredients and Peretti portion sizes and you have a really strong choice for Chinese food in Petaluma. The pork fried rice is simply the bomb as it has real barbecued pork pieces and not the super small diced pork that most restaurants serve.
