I really wanted to be able to agree with the really good reviews but after giving them a shot, I won't be going back. First, it's a Saturday around 1PM and I was able to be seen immediately which was great. Second, I was handed the color books and was given ample amount of time to decide which was nice because I'm very indecisive when it comes to selecting one! Lol Third, I was never offered anything to drink. Not water, not soda, not wine, nothing. I had to ask after 30 minutes for water and she still looked confused. Fourth, my nails were filed different lengths. On one foot they look fine, but on my right foot, nails are longer than others. Fifth, the massage I received was not pleasant. She basically ran her hands across my legs and feet for 5 minutes and then finished pulling off the paraffin wax. The one good thing I enjoyed about the pedicure, is the color I picked out. That's it. Prices: basic pedicure= $28 Paraffin wax= $5 Shellac= $12 Total= $45 Is shellac really that much? Geez! Anywho... if you are looking for a subpar nail salon, this is your spot. read more

I've been to more expensive places where they won't give you a final protective coat nor a nice hand massage, hot towel included. The place is clean and pleasant with plenty of parking. The only nail shop I will go to in Houston. I'm not originally from Houston, TX, however this nail shop gives me the feeling of my former go to nail shop in my hometown. Very homey and everyone is nice and accommodating. It's not your top notch nail bars that you'll find around Houston, however that doesn't bother me at all. It's perfect. Mimi is my nail tech, she knows what I like and I always leave satisfied. I recently got the OPI Sugar scrub pedicure, absolutely wonderful!! My feet still feel soft and smooth. This owner of this little 25 year old nail salon probably has one of the sweetest, most inspirational nail salon stories I've ever heard. While getting my brows waxed by Lily, the owner of the salon, I asked why her English was so good. Cuz we all know the countless numbers of times we've always had to repeat ourselves over and over at these nail salons, ("Whaat? No I don't want "crital jail"!). But her English... She formed complete sentences! And pronounced every letter! I was so impressed. But it hadn't always been like that for her. When she first moved here 25 years ago... her English was awful, and she cried every night because she was so frustrated that she couldn't speak to her customers. She wanted to say so many things, but there was such a huge language barrier! One day, one of her customers told her, "Don't cry, honey! It's okay! You just have to practice!". The next day Lily said that very customer returned with a children's book... and took the time to slowly teach her her ABC's, how to pronounce things, how to read. "Keep trying! And watch lots of TV! TV is good just listen to it!" So over the years Lily practiced and practiced (and probably watched lots of TV). Now her English is pretty impressive for a Vietnamese nail salon owner! And that customer? Yep! You betcha! 25 years loyal and probably one of her best customers! The warmth of this nail salon truly reflects in all the customers that come in too. While getting my nails done by Angela (the sweetest gay guy ever! And nail quality on point!) I noticed a constant flow of customers coming in. But they were never mad that the wait was soooooo long! In fact, some of them just marched right on in and made themselves comfy around the salon. ("Don't worry, I know yall packed imma just sit down over hurr and watch some tv I ain't in a hurry momma"). One lady waited beside me for 1.5 hours jUST to get her brows done by lily. Apparently it was her birthday too! So Lily didn't charge her, told her not to worry about it. Now if that's not warmth, I dunno what is. Anyways I shared that story because I wanted to thank whichever customer it was, who from the kindness of their own heart, first taught Lily English. Not everyone takes the time to be kind to foreigners, let alone an immigrant you just met working in a random nail salon. You are a kind soul. Thank you. I hope you read this. "Wait but who's Sonny though?! The salon's name is Lily Nails by Sonny!" you ask? Well you're just gonna have to ask Lily for yourself when you come in to get your nails done. :) (My total was $54... $8 brows, $18 shellac nails no mani, $28 deluxe pedi. A bit pricey. She asked if I wanted a full set and I told her no just a soak off. I was contemplating getting a pedicure as well but I wanted to look around and see how good their work was. I was instructed to sit in the last chair and everyone was busy with other customers. I sat for 15 minutes with no one acknowledging me or I letting me know how long it would be. I've been getting my nails done for 18 years at various places and multitasking is a big part of salon management. I've have been coming to this salon for years. Up until about a year ago I never had any issues. Let's start with the extensive wait times. During peak times they need more staff to service guest. Guest do not have 30minutes to wait for service after they quoted 15min. Since I am unable to get my nails done due to profession, I only get waxing. I can come in and they always tell me to come back. Today, I went in at 9:13, 13min after opening and was told to come back later. I can come in at 5 and will be told to come back later. Is my money not enough for service? Do I need to make an appointment? After this last incident I will not be returning. If you are on a time limit or not spending 30+ dollars keep driving past. read more

Went super early right when they opened. Place smelled great was and was clean. Tech took care of me got a full set and a pedicure. Nothing out of ordinary I observed. Avoid! This joint it located in a hole in the wall strip mall that should have been my time to run away. However, I was in an urgent need to a mani and it was the first nail place I came across. Not only is the place run down, has 70's decor but they do a poor job. The technician cut me twice and it was the most awful manicure experience ever. I have been getting weekly manicures for the past 20 yrs and it was the first time it felt miserable. To top it off they charge high end prices.
