She is a very wonderful person inside and out. I came in with my bridesmaid dress. I needed it to be hemmed, I wanted to know if she can add a split, and if it was possible to remove the inner lining because the wedding would take place in the desert and I did not want to be too hot. I also wanted her to hem the dress to flat as that will be what I would be changing into when pictures are done. She said she can do everything I want and more...and then she asked me, 'If I hem your dress to flats, when you wear your heels it will look too short and the dress will drape weirdly in pictures. If I add a split, the fabric and cut was not meant to accommodate one, I can but it will look weird and out of place, and the inner lining is so that the bottom has volume, it I cut it, it might make the top bulkier looking. I can do all that for you. But what do you think the bride will want? She spent a year planning her dream wedding, probably spent 10k on the photographer and videographer, and probably 1k on make up, and thousands on dinner and entertainment on the entire wedding...do you think she would agree to what you are asking? When the wedding is over and the photos are printed, do you think your bride will be happy or ashamed to share those pictures?" I had to laugh but she was right. She reiterated that she could do whatever I wanted but I should also consider the bride. So in effect, I brought the heels the very next day, we took video and pictures to send to the bride and maid of honor to get their opinion and the way that the dress was made, a split would look weird. She said I could endure a couple of hours just for the bride. After she completed alterations, she press the dress, and reminded me several times to bring a long garment bag to protect the dress. She even set an appointment for me days before the wedding to do a 'fitting' just to make sure I was happy and the bride and maid of honor was happy.
