This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. I come here often for their ceviches and their drinks are incredible! Food Recommendations: I've tried a variety of options on the menu at this point and my recommendations are: - For ceviches, I love them all, but my favorite is the Pica Rico. It's a little spicy and absolutely delicious. If you prefer non-spicy, I love the Ceviches Limón and the Mixto Amarillo. - For Appetizers, the my top recommendation are the Camarones Crocantes and the empanadas. - For a classic main, the Lomo Saltado is delicious and flavorful. - For Cocktails (I like things on the sweeter side), I recommend the Passionfruit Sour and the Cadillac Margarita. I also really enjoy the El Capitan Margarita if you enjoy a smooth mezcal. You can also never go wrong with the Limón Pisco Sour. Service: The staff is always super welcoming, friendly, and professional. We've never had a bad experience here. Appetizers and Drinks come out fairly quickly even when busy. Ambiance: during the day, there is plenty of natural light and their outdoor patio is lovely on warm days. Didn't have a reservation and wanted to have a nice, sit down dinner after the Art and Wine Festival. The hostess asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor. We chose outdoor because we figured it would be nice to people watch, and the weather was nice. However, we must have sat out there for over 15 min with not a waiter stopping by. We tried to flag a couple of people down, but, to not avail. We went back inside and asked the hostess if we could please sit inside instead. This was a great choice. Our waiter was really nice. The food was delicious and very beautifully plated. We were pretty disheartened when we were ignored outside, but, the amazing service we got from our waiter once we were inside turned the entire experience around! read more

Service was super sweet. The only thing that was difficult about this place was how jampacked it was, with everyone sitting close to each other. Limon was excellent. We started coming here around May and we have been there back now at least 4-5 times since then and all has been great experiences. One of the main reasons we started going back was their bartender Luis, he's customer service I believe is part of what made our experience excellent. Most of the times we go there for drinks and a few bites. These are some of the items we have order. Our favorite so far has been their Polli-Papas and their Ceviche Limon (not pictured). One thing that I would like to try again are their Leche de Tigre shooters because they were very very sour like to the point where it scolded our tongues for the rest of the meal, there was no salt on them. My wife basically gave me hers and we ordered their trio so I didn't want to waste the oyster nor I didn't want to tell the bartender that time since it wasn't our usual bartender Luis. That's why I would lie to give them a try so maybe next time we go I'll order a single one because they could have been having an off day for that order of shooters. Last thing you folks will see a picture of a cake in there and that's because one of the times we went in was to celebrate my 35th birthday and Luis and my wife surprised me with their Chocolate Bandido dessert and the Chef and the whole staff gathered around and sang Feliz Cumpleaños to me which I thought was very nice way to end our meal that day. We were getting family to try out new cuisines. So I suggested Peruvian and Limon is one of the places I've been to SF for Peruvian. Thank goodness they have a spot in Mountain View because I don't think we would've gone to the SF location. In short, very attentive service, with some hit and miss dishes, with a very social atmosphere. L O C A T I O N Limon is located on California St. and Castro St. in Downtown Mountain View. There's a few parking areas but there is a parking structure right next to Limon on California St. It's free which is lovely but if you need to use the elevator. Know it smells. I N S I D E It was pretty inside! Feels upscale with booth and table seatings as well as a bar area. It was quite loud inside. So it's not cozy and quiet. M E N U They had a pretty extensive menu that had both meat and seafood options. ~ Arroz con mariscos ~ This was delicious! Lots of seafood and the rice flavorful. I do wish they had a side plate to put shells from the seafood. ~ Lomo saltado ~ The beef was great though the amount of sauce really killed the crisp fries. I believe the extreme salty element was the sauce. I've never had a lomo saltado this salty. ~ Pulpo and grilled lobster tail ~ I had one bite of the lobster which was good and the pulpo (octopus) was grilled well! Very expensive plate, very little food. I'm giving two stars only because the service and the taste of the food were good. However, the price-to-portion ratio is extremely disappointing. The plate looked large, but the actual amount of food was very small. The protein portion was minimal, the carbs were also very limited, and there was no salad included. For the price, I expected a much more complete and satisfying meal. On top of that, I'm fairly certain I ordered the "dorado in seafood sauce" (around $38), but I was served a whole fish priced at $48. I didn't realize this until I received the bill, which was frustrating. What bothered me the most is that after spending $48 on an "adult" plate, I left still hungry, which has never happened to me at a restaurant before. I also called on the day of that we were running late and they adjusted our reservation with no issue. Here's what I ordered for the table: Trio ganador mixto mariscos - love the flavors! Each of us had our own favorite. We ordered more of taro chips since the original portion was not enough. I find this restaurant to be cramped and it was difficult to get in and out from the high chairs. When I move my chair back, it would hit the other customer at the next table. Came to eat on a Saturday afternoon and it was a bit busy. Also they might have been understaffed? We weren't serviced after sitting down for maybe 15 minutes. Go for the ceviche and the service. The ceviche Amarillo was truly one of the best ceviches I have ever had. Generous portions of fish and calamari and the sauce was so tangy and delicious. Didn't live that there was a 4$ up charge for taro chips I mean of course it has to come with chips that's ridiculous. The fiesta platter was beef empanadas, chicharron pollo, plantains and yuca fries was not fresh. Heavy, oily, dry chicken, dry yuca, very tough dough on the empanadas. The lime red onion sauce that came with was devastatingly harsh, I actually choked on it. The green beans were good but had tough skins and were overly wilted and under seasoned. A gorgeous restaurant that represents the Peru avian culture in a modernistic way. It is packed no matter the day but it is worth the wait. Chicha morada sour should be on your bucket list, amazing health benefits and its happy juice ta-duh! The scallops with the choclo had a great contrast of texture and the leche the Tigre must not be left behind, shells up! The march tierra was steak and shrimp and they were both super tender. This was my first-time experience at Limon in Mountain View, and unfortunately, the service completely ruined it. The first issue was being upcharged for items we did not order. We were charged for taro chips that we genuinely thought came with the ceviche, as they were presented that way and not clarified as an extra. On top of that, we specifically came for happy hour, yet were not given happy hour pricing, even though the items we ordered were on the HH menu. The bigger issue was the service. After taking our order, the waitress disappeared for about 40 minutes. No check-ins, no follow-up. We eventually had to flag someone else down just to get our bill. When she finally returned, she had a dismissive, Gen-Z-style attitude, as if we were the inconvenience. Bottom line: you really need to review your bill here, because it feels like transparency and customer service are not a priority. For Peruvian food, I'd honestly recommend Emelina's in Sunnyvale instead -- better service, more reasonable pricing, and a true hidden gem. I won't be returning here. read more

The food was amazing. We had multiple seafood platters, aside from the Plantano and the Empanadas. The empanadas were my least favorite course, but if I had to recommend one of them, the cheese were the best in my opinion. The Jalea were fried perfectly, no odd chewy texture that comes from overdoing certain seafood. Arroz con Mariscos were the real treat, again well-cooked seafood combined with seasoned and umami-packed rice one flavor bomb after another. If there is a critique to be made, it would be the service. It seems too fast. They brought basically all the dishes at the same time, which could ruin the experience for timing and temperature. And staff was pretty blunt and borderline rude. To be fair, we were there when they opened and the spot is very popular, so they were trying to get people in and out as fast as they can it seemed. The ambience is very modern decor and seems trendy. At night it may be more service-friendly and a stronger fine dining experience, but since we were there early with the crowd swarming un, it felt more like a diner experience. This is my go-to restaurant whenever I have any type of celebratory meal planned. The staff is nice and gives really good recommendations. The food is incredible no matter what we order. I highly recommend the ceviche limon, arroz con Mariscos, and the coliflor picante. The ceviche limon always goes so quickly that I never have a chance to take pictures. I've also tried the Ceviche Trio, and that was really fresh and light. All seafood is incredibly fresh and flavorful. The portions are huge and definitely for sharing. It's always bustling inside whenever I visit at any hours of the day - whether that be lunch, afternoon for happy hour, or dinner. I cannot give less tip as tip is pre- enter by the restaurant! 2nd time service is great and people there are nice. Take order of 14 people all correct and did not miss any dish or drink. Top notch service. I wish we have dedicated server so I can pay more to those who work well and pay less to those who sucks. This place is fancy but not my kind of cuisine. I split the empanadas. The mushroom one was delicious (and had a lot of cheese in it), the beef one was dry, and the one with only cheese was all right. I got the mango lemonade and ordered the fried fish of the day. The mango lemonade was good. The fish of the day was very artfully presented on a little french fry structure to keep it out of the sauce. It was interesting. There's a Chinese fried fish dish called "squirrel shape fried fish" that was basically EXACTLY this dish. I thought it was a nice spectacle, but it didn't taste that great and the sauce was too heavy. It was $50. I would get something else next time. read more

This restaurant is very cute and a great spot to come to get drinks after work for happy hour or to enjoy a nice dinner with the family or a date. They have a variety of items where you can share or order your own entrees. We just happened to eat dinner during their happy hour which includes select food items to be $3 off. For the happy hour, we tried the Conchitas a la Chalaca, Chicharron de Pollo, and the empanada sampler. The sampler is good to get if you want to try all the flavors. I would skip the Conchitas a la Chalaca as I felt there wasn't enough scallops in the actual dish. The Chicharron de Pollo is solid to get as an app to start. For the entrees, we ordered the Picante de Mariscos and the Crispy Pork Belly Chaufa. Our favorite out of the two was the Picante de Mariscos as the sauce was delicious with the combo of all the different seafoods. For a seafood dish, they do give a lot which is nice when you are paying more for seafood. The crispy pork belly Chaufa had a good flavor for the rice, but we felt that the dish would be better without the crispy pork belly. The fried rice used an oyster sauce and bacon mixed into it. The crispy pork belly was not cooked the best as it was a little tough. But the fried rice was delicious and I just wanted to keep eating the rice. I think this spot is great if you want a cute spot to grab some drinks or order some small plates with everyone. This place is also great to get dressed up for a nice dinner. read more

DELISH. I'm relatively new to Peruvian cuisine and this was a fantastic start. The drink were refreshing. Ceviche: We started off with the mixto Amarillo. Make sure you order it with the Taro chips so it serves as a great vessel into your mouth. The tangy lemon sauce that it's in is phenomenal. It's not overly fishy, which I think is a difficult thing to manage well. For my main, I got the quarter dark meat of the Pollo A la brasa. FALL of the bone tenderrrr. But the real star of the show was the yellow sauce that it came with -- aji Amarillo is apparently a mild Peruvian pepper. I could eat that on literally anything and be happy. I also tried a bite of the pollo saltado and wow the ginger sauce was soooo flavorful! Ordering it next time for sure. TL;DR: Huge portions, amazing Peruvian flavors, and a lively vibe. Not overpriced, so expect to spend $30-$40/ppl for a good meal. Limon was a great surprise in MTV. I had tasted Peruvian food elsewhere in a more pretentious setting (La Mar in Bellevue, WA), and it wasn't a good experience with high prices and extremely salty food. Limon is different and much better. We got the roasted chicken (a must), paella, and the octopus. This easily filled up 3 people when paired with the salad and some fries (with amazing dipping sauce. The food was very flavorful but it wasn't too salty, avoiding bloating after. The vibe is loud and lively. However, many seats are booths so there is somewhat of a private feeling... or at least avoiding people bumping into your seat in the middle of a room. I would highly recommend this restaurant for its good taste and value that stays true to authentic Peruvian cuisine. read more

We recently dined at Limón and really enjoyed the ambience lively, full of people, and overall a very nice restaurant. The food itself was very good, but unfortunately the customer service fell short. After being seated we waited about 19 minutes with no one coming to our table to take our order or even ask if we wanted drinks. My daughter eventually had to get up and look for someone. The manager came over, took our order, and kindly offered us two sangrias on the house due to the wait, which we appreciated. As for the food, it did not disappoint. The ambience of the restaurant is great and could definitely recommend for two people. I called in earlier today to make a reservation and the host was very friendly to help on the menus and options, finally we got the reservation for 14 people but with conditional reservation. That the reservation can be confirmed if we pre-fix the menu, so we went with $120 family style, which was recommended by the host and clearly mentioned its one order, but not per person. So initially thought the order is only and added few add-ons, but during the payment time, the bill ended up more than $1K, which is surprisingly high based on host conversation. Looks like the $120 is per person which was very disappointing of not letting know before. The food is great though, no comments on that, but the clarification would have been better.
