We don't mind paying for a quality experience--especially for special occasions--which is why we chose Broma to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, we left regretting that decision. From the start, the experience felt unwelcoming when we were seated with our 3-year-old daughter. There was no single overtly disrespectful moment, but the overall tone and repeated small interactions made us feel like we were being judged for having a child with us. At one point, when our daughter accidentally dropped her fork while playing, the reaction we received came across as frustration, which added to that feeling. We understand not every restaurant is designed for young children, but Broma presents itself as a place for friends and family. Instead, we felt like we had to constantly manage and overcorrect normal toddler behavior, which created stress and took away from what should have been a special occasion. Because of that, we didn't feel comfortable raising concerns during the meal when the server checked in--we were more focused on getting through the experience without drawing additional attention. We were also offered an off-menu item without any mention of price. The menu we were given did not list the smash burger, so when I ordered a double, I had no context for the cost. The final price was a surprise, and we would have made a different decision with that information upfront. The food itself did not match the price point. The "smash burger" was not prepared in the style typically expected, and overall the meal felt underwhelming for the cost. Lastly, the billing was confusing. The paper receipt listed "gratuity," while the digital receipt labeled the same charge as a "service charge," making it unclear whether an additional tip was expected. That lack of clarity does not align with the level of transparency expected at this price point. We don't mind paying for a great experience, especially for meaningful occasions, but this visit did not meet that standard and ultimately left us regretting our choice to celebrate here. read more

I would not rush back for the food alone. The seafood pasta was too acidic/sour and somewhat underwhelming, so it did not quite land for me and led to the stomach discomfort that lasted into the next day. The quality and presentation do not match the price tag. The servers were super helpful in giving options for food recommendations and drink pairings too. I came here to celebrate a special occasion and they did not disappoint with congratulating me and making me feel welcomed. I'd say the tom kha mussels were the most delicious but we definitely could have used more bread. Unfortunately they said that if we wanted more bread, we'd have to buy another serving. That was a huge bummer. Other than that, I would say I would put all the food at a 4/5 in flavor and 3/5 to account for costs. I attended a networking event at Broma on a weekday evening. The restaurant is inside Shashi hotel in Mountain View, right across from the Google campus. At that time of the evening, 7pm, there was oo street parking available but the hotel has a parking garage. The restaurant was closed for the private event. You walk into the hotel reception area and there is a large bar to your right. There were quiet a few people at the bar. Broma is to the left of the bar. Since it was a private event, most of the tables were moved to the outskirts of the room and there was standing room for people to network. The servers came around regularly to take drink orders, I had a champagne which was fabulous. The event started at 6pm so I missed the appetizers but I was told that they had servers walking around with trays and there was a large charcutarie tray provided. Dinner started at 7 with salmon, chicken, vegetables and bread. It was buffet style. The food was well worth the visit, with each dish tasty and not too greasy. I had a chardonnay with my meal and it paired very well with the food. For dessert, we had Petit Fours and large variety. During this whole time, the servers were walking around to make sure that peoples drinks were refreshed. The service and food were well worth the visit! I also had the pasta allá gricia and it was superb. Gorgeous peas just absolutely beautiful summer flavors that reminded me of my childhood eating peas from my grandfather's garden. Food is pretty good with lots of shareable options. My pasta plate was pretty good, with good textures and flavors. I really liked some of the appetizers, though the liver mousse and mussels were a bit gamey for my taste. The presentation of the dishes was quite photogenic. Signature old-fashioned was great, I have never seen branded ice before. The restaurant should just get a 10 out of 10 just for that. It has to be a reflection of their Michelin star chef. The chicken adobo is as good as little any little corner spot (iykyk). Bedded into a great sauce, the adobo is sweet, smoky and hearty all at the same time cook to perfection. I don't think that you can go wrong with making this selection. Smash burger was a solid selection, but it wasn't as good as the chicken adobo. Another unforgettable visit to Broma! Two dishes were extraordinary today: - charred broccoli gnudi: the char is so pleasantly strong that it made my head spin. I've no idea what techniques they use to make gnudi with broccoli but yet so smooth. - lemon cheesecake: the sauce had a delicate balance of acid + bitter to it and made every bite irresistible. If you look at photos in my previous reviews you'll notice an older version of the cheesecake, which was also fantastic, but they just keep innovating and improving. One thing I didn't like today was the eel barbocoa. The skin was impossible to cut through and very chewy. I felt the idea might've worked if they made it bite-sized. The food here is tasty, but WAY too small and expensive for what it is. I came here with a group last night and everything on the menu sounded delicious, but we all had to go out to eat somewhere else afterwards because all of us were starving when we left. I ordered the Day Boat Scallop Crudo which was very delicious, but about two tablespoons of food at most. The majority of the bowl is just a foam garnish. Even for a high end restaurant, $26 for what arrived on my plate is preposterous. They also advertise this as "shared plates", but there is no way to share many of these dishes because they are so tiny. Tried Broma since I was staying at Shashi hotel and they gave a meal credit. The service was excellent and I hate only giving it 3 stars but the food was just not our taste. Broma is set as Spanish tapas so we had the hamachi crudo small plate which was our favorite plate, though very spicy! We also had the hand formed Cavatelli (large plate) which we didn't like. It didn't have any flavor and we couldn't finish it despite us splitting the dish. For dessert, we had the salted caramel chocolate tart which was good but super rich, thank goodness we split that! We also ordered the flan but it tasted really weird and too strong of orange so we couldn't take more than 2 bites each. All in all, I really appreciate the service and they were really accommodating when they saw we weren't liking the dishes. But I probably won't be back to Broma. read more

Broma was in my list for quite a while even before we moved to Mountain View but never got around to make so once we became locals we decided it was a must to go and try Broma. We went in around 5:30pm and the place not that busy there were people from the hotel Broma is located at and because there was a concert at Shoreline that day. We started by ordering a Paloma for my wife and a Cantarito. They were both really good basically the Cantarito is a Paloma but swagged out. For appetizers we ordered their Hamachi Crudo and their Tom Kha Mussels. The Hamachi Crudo which was seasonal had stone fruits, cucumbers, cantaloupe, herbs and chili oil but it was lacking salt & acid so the flavors didn't really tie together or came forward together. Tom Kha Mussels were good on flavor basically tased like a seafood Tom Kha soup but the mussels were cold so the broth felt fattier since the fats coagulated and the mussels were chewy, once again I don't mind my food cold I am used to it but my wife need her food at least warm but ideally hot. For our entree we just shared their Skirt Steak plate which is Vietnamese influenced. The stake was cooked medium rare but once again it was a bit cold very tasty and very tender but it was not warm so as we ate the meat became harder to chew. Overall we liked the ambiance, the hotel is beautiful and their outdoor sitting is beautiful also, their drinks were great I feel like that's what saved the experience because I really didn't feel like complaint about the food to them because we are going to give them another try sometime in the future. The prices are a bit steep since the bar and the restaurant are inside of a boutique hotel called the Shashi located right next to Google HQ. For 2 rounds of drinks (4 total), 2 appetizers and 1 entree it was around $180-$200 with tip included. We will give them a try again since their two hot dishes were cold and I will update this review. read more

I came here with a group of friends to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and made a reservation online through their website. Broma is located on the first floor of a hotel and there was plenty of street parking, as well as parking inside the structure. I was excited to try out Broma because I read that the chef is Michelin-starred and the food prices were reasonable considering the caliber of experience. To share, we ordered pan con tomate, spicy arbol shrimp, and pitchers of the lychee sangria. My absolute favorite dish was the pan con tomate. The combination of the tart tomato, smooth olive oil, and fattiness from the bacon was absolute perfection! So so soooooo delicious and simple! For our entrees, my boyfriend and I decided to just go with the tapas and ordered the chicken croquetas and serrano charcuterie board, which were both solid. We also got the fideua negra, similar to a paella, to share with everyone and I thought this was just okay. The pasta/grain had a texture I didn't expect - it was so chewy that it tasted undercooked. The service was amazing and everyone was super friendly and helpful. I had brought a cake and they offered to put it in the fridge for us to keep chilled. Located inside the Sashi Hotel, we had to ask the lobby crew where the restaurant was as for some reason, I only saw an Emerald Hour sign outside the doors coming in from the parking structure. We actually came in here last November for a family dinner upon the recommendation of my daughter and her boyfriend. Our party of four was sat near the cozy fireplace which was perfect on a cold Santa Clara county autumn night. Upon perusing the menu, I found out that this wasn't your regular resto-bar with the swanky environment and the Michelin guide price range. The menu had Spanish and Portuguese tapas and entrees. They do have options for the Broma Experience $95/person (family style tasting menu minimum of two) and wine pairing $70/person but we opted to grab a pitcher of Sangria and order the hot and cold tapas Tapas we had. Pan con Tomate (sourdough & tomato sauce), Croquetas De Pollo Y Manchego (chicken fitters), Camarones a la Diabla (fried shrimp in garlic butter chili), Calamares Rellenos (squid filled with octopus and pork chorizo), Redondo Iglesias Jamon de Serrano (dry cured Spanish ham). We finished our dinner with Budin de Pan (bread pudding) and Crema Catalana (creme brulee). I also want to mention that our menu varied significantly from what we saw online. This looked like it was prepared by a 5 year old who picked up random items from an empty pantry. Pan con Tomate - 5/5 This was our favourite order of the evening. The serving size was generous, the bread was nicely toasted and the the tomato flavour was all there. Octopus Salad - 3/5 The flavours here were interesting but not really that exciting. There was a nice variety of texture and flavour but I wouldn't order this again. The few pieces of octopus in the dish were nicely cooked. Ceviche - 2/5 This tasted like sashimi placed in a bowl of lime juice. Now, sashimi is never a bad thing, but when you're expecting ceviche, it's disappointing. This was prepared with hardly any salt and there was very little depth of flavour here as well. Was staying at the hotel in which this restaurant belongs to, and decided to dine here for the convenience as there aren't too many other dinner options nearby, or would require a bit of a drive to get to. It was rather quiet and empty on a Monday night, and so we were seated promptly. My partner and I ordered the wagyu tartare, paella, and flan for dessert. I can't in all honesty say that I recommend these dishes. I felt like each fell short of the price it was set at. The tartare wasn't anything special or notable--portion was a bit small, traditionally flavored with mustard, capers, and served with an egg yolk brushed sesame cracker that didn't hold its crisp well, and went soggy because of the egg yolk. Paella was a bit odd to me--I haven't had a paella made with pasta noodles before, but wasn't a fan of the texture or the flavoring/seasoning--it was very sweet and bland. The shrimps in this paella were good though! I wish there was just more flavor, acidity, depth, umami to the dish as a whole. Flan was dense and almost chewy? I haven't had this texture in flan before. The caramel was very bitter. Food was unique and had fun flavors and textures but everything was overly salty I drank a gallon of water with dinner. We started off with the Spanish Artichokes which had a delightful crunch. The baby octopus dish had calabrian fried lupini beans which were a hit. The duck empanada had an interesting cherry mole that was too sweet and picklely combined with too salty. I came here for dinner with my friend last May and was blown away by the classic ambiance, beautiful dishes, and excellent service! This restaurant is located within the Sashi Hotel Mountain View and is also connected to a very classy bar called The Emerald Hour. The space is clean, elegant, and has lots of windows to view the hotel's extravagant pool area. There is also a beautiful outdoor dining area with a fire pit. This location has an open kitchen concept so guests can peak into the kitchen through a large window to watch the chefs prepare the delicious food. I started off with the "Not Just Another Tiki" Cocktail. This drink was cute, fruity, a little sweet and definitely refreshing! Broma serves Spanish tapas style, so my friend and I shared a bit of everything. We ordered the Croquetas de Pollo e Manchego and the Shishito Peppers. The Croquetas were crispy on the outside and the inside was hot, cheesy, and soft. I really enjoyed this dish! The roasted shishito peppers were vibrant green and were a little smoky and spicy from the fire red harissa. This wasn't my favorite dish, but it was very pretty. We split the Shrimp Picante and the Portuguese Sardine. These dishes were amazing! Drizzled with crispy chili oil, the gulf shrimp was plump, sweet, juicy, and had a little heat. Served atop slices of crispy baguette and topped with sofrito, the sardines were soft, flakey, and tender. With a happy belly, we enjoyed the massive Sherry Braised Pork Shank. When our server brought out this dish my friend and I were in awe! Larger than my fist, the pork shank was served upon a bed of Yukon gold potatoes and topped with chimichurri sauce. The pork was fall-off-the-bone tender and very flavorful. Lastly, we ended our meal with Spanish cream filled pastries called Miguelitos. Dusted with powdered sugar, these flaky pastries were piped with smooth and refreshing lemon pastry cream. A perfect way to end a filling meal! Although it's been many months since I've a dined here, this meal left a big impression. For entrees we got the Chicken Adobo and the burger. The chicken adobo was well reviewed and I saw it came with plantains so I was expecting something delicious. We saw the menu here and figured it'd be a good time for a date night. We had trouble finding the entrance being that it's inside of a hotel and there is no sign of the restaurant. there are 2 doors in the dining area that are not useful to enter or exit. You must go inside the main hotel entrance and the host is right there to your right along with the bar area. The decor was sleek and modern, a wonderful setting for big or small groups and of course an intimate table for two. The first of many small issues we had was the ever changing menu. I came with the notion that there would be duck being that it was on the online menu as well as open table menu. Strike one but still opportunity to hit it out the park.. they didn't do that unfortunately but I can say the service was just as good as any other fine dining establishment. I went ahead and got the ribeye and my love interest got the dorada fish plate. The fish was cooked perfectly and the bulgar side was also impressive when you didn't get a glob of the white cream mixed in. I ordered a medium ribeye and got what seemed closer to medium well.. an honest mistake and I wouldn't bet my life that I could pull off a medium every time either so I am understanding. However, I still had a tough time chewing on the steak and felt my jaw was gonna be sore the next day. The seasoning was around 65% satisfaction so it wasn't bad but it didn't make up for the overall steak. The lack of sides available didn't necessarily help their cause either. The grilled octopus was memorable in the sense that it didn't hold up to what my expectations would be. The bread was really good especially with the oil and salt. Fthe spanish creme Brule had a lemon like aftertaste which I had no issues with but for those expecting different, it's something you might want to be aware of beforehand. All in all I'd say this place can be hit or miss and the price isn't something I'd feel comfortable suggesting just in case it's a miss for your experience. I'm no stranger to spending way more on food for two than this but I still expect the experience to match the prices. We left full and still happy with the experience. Again, the service was great and I wish this place nothing but the best, I just don't see myself giving them another try unless I know for sure the menu is perfectly aligned with what I want to eat that day; sides included. read more

Ambiance is nice - moody, interesting vibe. Definitely liked the feel of it. Service was pretty good. They kept trying to take plates away before we were done, but they were attentive. The food unfortunately wasn't great. We tried: - chicken croquetas - the only truly good dish. Spicy, balanced. - broccoli gnudi - the gnudi was bland and the broccoli was over-salted. Couldn't eat it - chicken pate sandwich - it wasn't terrible, but there was nothing to cut the richness - huancaina shrimp - it wasn't the best huancaina sauce but other than that it was fine. Not great The cocktails were also pretty average. I would maybe come back here for happy hour with coworkers but that's it. read more

Cute ambiance for a catch-up or date. Spanish fusion with tapas, charcuterie and some mains. We ordered the beef tartare, chicken croquettes, tokyo turnips. As a whole the tapas we ordered were good, however each dish seemed to be skewed and not balanced harmoniously. My favorite was probably the chicken croquettes. The turnips and beef tartare both were too salty and the textures didn't mesh well together. As many other reviewers have echoed about the food similarly the service however was wonderful. read more

Easy parking in the structure. Great cozy ambience. Favorites were sardine toast and almonds and fish croquettes (texture was like crab cake and liked them more than the jamon croquettes). Food temperature was uncomfortable. Thankful that staff replaced our order of fish croquettes when we told them the center was still cold. First time having oyster rockefellers that were raw (crust on top was warm). Most dishes were lukewarm. Cool to try out, but would not recommend or revisit. read more
