    Basque cheesecake
    Camille Y.

Beautiful restaurant with beautiful dishes. What we ordered: Ceviche mixto-had the perfect balance of citrus, tang, and freshness. $4 to add on taro chips. Paella negra- ordered the medium size and the portion was massive. I loved that the seafood was mixed throughout the rice, so every bite had a great seafood-to-rice ratio. The only thing I felt was missing was the crispy bottom (socarrat), which our paella didn't seem to have. Still yummy & tasty. Basque cheesecake- just order it. Soooooo good. I thought I'd miss the crust of a traditional cheesecake, but this one was so rich & creamy that we practically inhaled it. The service was just as memorable as the food. Since we were celebrating my husband's birthday, our server surprised us by comping the cheesecake. It was such a thoughtful gesture and definitely not expected, and we appreciated the kindness. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, generous portions, and exceptional service. We'd absolutely recommend Suspiro and would happily dine here again.

Third visit and I think I can finally say I've experienced pretty much everything Suspiro has to offer. This time, after the Mother's Day dinner, my mom and I checked out their speakeasy. But first, the paella is still a must-order. We went with the seafood paella this time and it was just as good as I remembered, fresh ingredients, packed with flavor, and still my favorite paella in the Bay Area. The Patatas Bravas wasn't quite as memorable as my first visit, but still good. As for the speakeasy, it's definitely one of the nicest upscale cocktail spots in San Jose. It's not exactly hidden, just walk past the restroom area and through the curtain, but the atmosphere is beautiful. Dim lighting, elegant decor, great music, and gorgeous bar setup. I ordered the Enchanted for myself and my mom got Midnight in Spain, and both cocktails were well-made and beautifully presented. I always enjoy sitting at the bar and watching the bartenders work their magic. Overall, another great experience. Between the food, cocktails, and atmosphere, Suspiro continues to impress me. Definitely a spot I'll keep recommending to friends and family.

Suspiro has become one of our go-to places to take friends for a meal. Service is great and friendly, plenty of seating inside and outside, and the food is delicious. We've ordered a good spread of their menu between the times we've visited, but we always come back to: paella, ceviche, and sangria. There's a variety to choose from for each, so pick whatever speaks to you -- they'll all be tasty. If you're planning to also order a spread of different food like we did, a medium paella was enough for a party of 4 (even though it says that it serves 2). We also tried the empanadas on our most recent visit, and those were also super yummy. When in doubt, ask your server! Ours gave us great recommendations each time. There's also a special brunch menu on weekends with more brunchy things like bottomless mimosas, French toast, and benedicts if that's your jam.

We had a big group and made an advanced reservation. Service was great, food came out promptly and we were really happy with the drinks. Really like the fusion between peruvian and spanish, the paellas were really good and each tasted very different from the other, really enjoyed that they didn't all taste the same.

Enjoyed the vibe and service was great. Food was alright, brunch menu had no taste and new item Scallop with green sauce was not worth the price at all. I was afraid that I would not be full so I ordered Empenada too anddddd I was not full at all with those Well I did enjoyed the sun, music and the surrounding then stopped for ice cream later and had late lunch at home again

I'm sorry I just can't get over the service I just had. I went to the speakeasy on a Friday night around 8 which was not too crowded which I loved. Was greeted nicely by the bartenders. But I felt the hate from the waitress as soon as she walked to the table and interacted with me. I asked what her what she recommended, gave her a choice of two drinks, and she sooo rudely said, " ma'am I don't drink where I work". Mm ok. So very unhelpful. Asked her about the Foccacia appetizer and again, another rude response that she's never had it. Her response for a lot of the questions were basically, " I have no idea but a lot of people order it". I just felt so rubbed the wrong way that I had to write this review right away. Like if you hate customers for no reason and have never tried the drinks or food where you work at, what is the point of you being here?? Overall, I'm not looking to come back anytime soon.

Suspiro is elegant casual with a super chill, yet sophisticated vibe. They have beautiful inside and outdoor seating. We arrived early on a Saturday and were seated right away. Service started out great. We ordered the mariscos paella right away because it takes awhile to cook. Mariscos is the seafood version. But since we had 30 minutes, we ordered a couple additional tapas and Bloody Mary. One was tortilla de patatas which is like a quiche type egg omelette with potatoes. It came with delicious garlic cream sauce. Without that it was bland. We also had albondigas, which are delicious meatballs on a bed of mashed potatoes. And when the paella came, that was excellent too. Crispy on top but not on the bottom. They use a lot of oil on the bottom and meat broil the top. It was all tasty but pricey. These items were $165 all in. For instance, at &18, it was $5 per meatball. But really good meatballs! By the time we finished, it was quite busy in the restaurant. Service level dropped off and took a long time for dessert and check. Overall, very good restaurant.

First time trying the S bar in Suspiro and this is definitely being added to the lineup for sip and yap locations. The vibes were immaculate and the drinks + food were delish! Got 2 gin martinis, 2 hugo spritz, and 2 specialty cocktails :) All the drinks were fabulous and were so necessary after solidcore session. The ceviche mixto was bright and fresh and the paella was so yummy. The service was 10/10, atmosphere amazing, and vibes were it. Can't wait to bring everyone I know here hahahaha!

I was super excited to try some amazing Peruvian food in santana row and suspiro looked amazing from yelp pictures so couldn't wait to come here and give this a shot. We finally made it here and the space looked amazing. We got seated right away and I loved the interiors. The high ceilings added an amazing touch to the ambiance. We took a look at their menu and loved all the amazing options they had.. it was vast. We came here and whatever we ordered came to our table within 5 mins.. I was shocked. Literally all our food came right away. Now regarding the taste itself.. I would say it didn't quite hit the mark with us. It was good, don't get me wrong but honestly after having mind blowing Peruvian food in the past this didn't quite amaze us to the fullest.

Suspiro is a really cozy spot with great aesthetics and a welcoming atmosphere. The waitstaff wear classy black aprons that add to the vibe, and everyone was genuinely friendly and attentive. The mix ceviche was fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal. The croquettes were also tasty, although the ham croquette was a little disappointing since it tasted more like the sauce than the ham itself. We ordered the carne paella, and while it was absolutely delicious, the portion was massive for two people. I wish they offered a smaller size because we ended up with way more food than we could finish. It also felt a bit expensive considering the amount of meat included. The octopus in the ceviche was another miss for me. It lacked the bite and texture I was hoping for, and it was chopped so small that it was hard to really taste it or get any mouthfeel from it. One thing I highly recommend is asking for their hot sauce. It's an orange colored sauce that reminded me of the creamy orange salsa you get at some taquerias, and it was seriously good. The cocktails were reasonably priced, and most of the tapas felt fairly priced as well. That said, $15 for four croquettes felt a little steep. I also enjoyed their house made taro chips, though they're an extra $4. My only other complaint is that their digital menu doesn't include pictures. It would make ordering a lot easier, especially for first time visitors. I also wish they had a larger tapas selection since that's what I'd primarily come back for. Overall, Suspiro is a great spot for tapas and cocktails with a fun atmosphere, friendly service, and some standout dishes. I'd definitely return, though I'd probably skip the paella unless I was dining with a larger group.

Food was very good. We went to suspiro not knowing if we'd have a ton of options given our dietary restrictions and we found that they have a ton of veggie options. We ordered the bombas, empanadas vegetales, the skewers, the papayas and the Spanish omelette and it was all very good. My favorite was probably the empanada stuffed with a corn filling, but the bombas were also very nice. The drinks were good too. We left feeling full and we had about half of the patatas we ordered. Service was very good, they even brought us an extra dessert for our anniversary which was a nice touch. We would definitely come back!! The vibes and the atmosphere were good. Was a bit noisy but nothing unreasonable for a Saturday night at Santana row.

Pretty restaurant with nice interior. We visited on a busy Friday lunchtime, the service was quite slow, we have to wait for order and long delays for basic requests like clean plates. The Ceviche Mixto was refreshing and a great choice in the warm weather, the Gambas al Ajillo with shrimp, mashed potatoes and garlic bread was quite nice. However, I'd skip the Paella Negra, it was tasted fishy and lacked of flavor. The Rosé Sangria was a pleasant highlight to this lunch meal.

Food - Got the chicken croquette, seafood empanada, and jamon Benedict for lunch Croquette was super crispy, but it was too rich and creamy for me. Empanada was different and unique but I wouldn't get it again. I'm glad I tried it. Benedict was the star! They use aji Amarillo for the hollandaise and it made all the difference. Service was great. Price is fair and ambiance was nice. Parking was not that convenient but it is what it is for the area!

To eat three of us shared some apps, mains, and desserts. We started with the Mixed greens and heirloom beets salad and Delicata squash, then got the Mushroom pasta and Argentinian steak, and finished with the Molten chocolate bomb and Basque style cheesecake. The starters were good, they just weren't my first choice, there were others on the seafood section that I wanted to try more, but that's a reason to go back. Both entrées were great, the steak was cooked perfectly with the most delicious chimichurri, and I couldn't get enough of the mushroom pasta. I would get either of these again. I was still a little hungry after the food, but that left room for dessert and not leaving the restaurant uncomfortably stuffed. We brought our own bottle of wine but also got cocktails there. Sherry Braised Pork Shank - The meat was tender and easily pulled off the bone, and the polenta it came with was rich and perfectly creamy. Smoked Salmon & Caviar - A bit too salty for my taste, so this one didn't quite hit compared to the others. The meat dishes were definitely worth it, especially with the generous portions. Overall, a good dinner option if you're in the area or staying nearby -- not necessarily a destination spot, but an easy choice.

Unfortunately, we left regretting that decision. From the start, the experience felt unwelcoming when we were seated with our 3-year-old daughter. There was no single overtly disrespectful moment, but the overall tone and repeated small interactions made us feel like we were being judged for having a child with us. At one point, when our daughter accidentally dropped her fork while playing, the reaction we received came across as frustration, which added to that feeling. We understand not every restaurant is designed for young children, but Broma presents itself as a place for friends and family. Instead, we felt like we had to constantly manage and overcorrect normal toddler behavior, which created stress and took away from what should have been a special occasion. Because of that, we didn't feel comfortable raising concerns during the meal when the server checked in--we were more focused on getting through the experience without drawing additional attention. We were also offered an off-menu item without any mention of price. The menu we were given did not list the smash burger, so when I ordered a double, I had no context for the cost. The final price was a surprise, and we would have made a different decision with that information upfront. The food itself did not match the price point. The "smash burger" was not prepared in the style typically expected, and overall the meal felt underwhelming for the cost. Lastly, the billing was confusing. The paper receipt listed "gratuity," while the digital receipt labeled the same charge as a "service charge," making it unclear whether an additional tip was expected. That lack of clarity does not align with the level of transparency expected at this price point. We don't mind paying for a great experience, especially for meaningful occasions, but this visit did not meet that standard and ultimately left us regretting our choice to celebrate here.

I placed an online order on Teleferic's website to make paella. When I went to pick up my order,…read morethe staff member first told me that there were two orders with the same name. But when she couldn't locate my order, she insisted that the order had been picked up. She then said, "That's okay, I'll give you the order....you'll have two orders, but that's ok" She later asked to see the email confirmation, which I showed her. With a quick glance, she confirmed her belief that the order had been picked up. But when I read it later, it actually said that the order was ready for pick up. I wanted to correct her, but she had already shifted her attention to help other customers and didn't show any interest in wanting to have a further conversation. I didn't want to make a scene, so I left the store. It was Christmas Eve, and I felt that I was being accused of a crime that I didn't commit. It felt pretty awful.

Why fly to Spain during the pandemic when you get paella and your Spanish goods in Palo Alto?…read more Technically, tourists aren't even allowed into Spain right now anyway, so this is one of your better alternatives. This is a tiny market attached to the Telerific restaurant. It doesn't at all rival La Boqueria, the famous market on Barcelona's Las Ramblas which is AMAZING (check out my 5-star Yelp review), but we're talking Palo Alto now, right?! I came for the paella. It's the same paella as you'd get if you from Teleferic, but this is take-out only. The wait time is about 20 minutes. You can get it in a standard plastic-like takeout bowl or in an iron paella pan for a refundable $15.00 deposit. I ended up with both, but if you want something nicely presentable (which Hubs really appreciates), get it in the paella pan. I got the Paella Mixta (meat & seafood, $19.00, serves one). The amount of meat and seafood was very generous. There's a nice prawn atop the paella, but overall pretty salty, meats were dry (great calamari though!) and the rice was missing that great crisp socarrat bottom that I've enjoyed eating all over Spain and Portugal. This was probably more like a 3-star. The Ham Croquettes ($8.00) and Patatas Bravas ($9.00) were ok. The patatas were on the saltier side, but the portion size was good. If you reheat the croquettes, just wait before popping these hot round babies into your mouth or you'll burn your mouth as Hubs did. Inside the market, you can get Spanish wines, freshly jarred sangrias, and many ingredients you'll need to make an authentic paella, like Bomba rice from Spain (a must, in my book for paella) and even paella kits. And if you like black truffles, which I'm crazy about, try the imported Torres potato chips from Spain, which have a super potent black truffle aroma and flavor. The secret sauce is the dehydrated black truffles. These sell out of these fast! An additional Yelp star for the market staples and nice service. It's nice to have a local market like this selling quality culinary items from Spain. And if you want some paella for take-out, they've got you covered here too. TIP: No seating for items purchased from the market. Outdoor seating is reserved for the Telerific restaurant.
