Party of four, birthday celebration The Duchess ordered an ensalada, Jardinera a jolly Spring mix, romaine, ají amarillo sesame dressing, carrots, cucumbers, & cherry tomatoes. $12.00 added ¼ rotisserie chicken $8.00 5 stars For me: under classico's, Picante con Mariscos a wonderful spicey (not to hot) mix of Braised jumbo prawns, calamari, mussels, clams, Peruvian scallops in a creamy ají panca rocoto sauce served with a large side of small grain rice. $36.004 stars as it is messy, because the whole prawn, shell, legs, head, needs to be removed, and they are covered in sauce. Also Flat Iron $34.00 Grilled 10 oz steak, Yukon mashed potatoes, veggie anticuchero, ají panca cabernet demi-glace. 5 stars Arroz con Mariscos$36.00 Aromatic saffron rice, ají panca fish fumé. Peruvian scallops, head-on prawns, jumbo shrimp, PEI mussels, Manila clams, calamari, fish, & salsa criolla 4 stars, same problem, messy, so the prawns were just put in a take home box. Drinks Ice tea $5.00 with slight strawberry flavor 3 stars, not a fan. Mango Lemonade $7.00 5 stars, but damn pricey! Very good service, seated at half booth and two facing chairs. 5 stars. Brought the birthday boy a dessert with lit candle. We all sang the usual, with me loudly inserting OLD GUY in place of his name. No stars for me . . . No Parking on Castro St, foot traffic only, but plenty parking in a public garage, elevator out of order if your handicapped. Nice colorful ambiance with a casual flair. I'm told that it gets pretty trendy on Fridays. Opens at 11:30 AM everyday, open later on weekends I'll return to sample their ribeye steak off the grill. A Definite recommend!

There are only a few moments in life where you celebrate a big event at a restaurant, and I wanted mine to be special. Having grown up in Mountain View, I chose Limón to ask my bridesmaids to be part of my wedding. I called on August 2 to confirm my reservation and explained the situation to the woman I spoke with, letting her know everything needed to be set up by 7 PM. The week of August 9, I called again a couple more times and spoke with Limon to confirm the reservation, moving the time up to 6:45 so I'd have room to set up boxes on the table beforehand. When I arrived, none of that had been done my table wasn't set up. The host smirked when I explained the situation, and the manager told me I was late, even though I'd been waiting in a line at the host stand the whole time. That was genuinely disappointing, especially since I've eaten at Limón several times before and the service was never anything like this. Our server, Michael, was great but the restaurant itself never made an effort to fix things. We asked three separate times for the mac & cheese to be brought out, and it kept arriving late. On top of that, the manager kept making comments guessing who the maid of honor was and assuming my nephew was the ring bearer and my niece the flower girl. If you're celebrating something special, I wouldn't recommend celebrating it here, it will get overshadowed. Despite being a repeat customer and spending over $600 on my bridal dinner, I won't be back and I've been coming here for years so truly disappointed.

Came here for my moms birthday and overall it was good but we were put off by how long we had to wait. We had a reservation at 6:30 on a tuesday night and we werent seated until 7:20pm after we asked the staff multiple times about our table. Their apology was to compensate us one dessert (for our party of 6) which felt a little underwhelming given that we were there for my mom's birthday anyways and most restaurants will offer some sort of free dessert for birthdays anyways. For everyone's birthday, staff will come over and sing though which is nice For the actual food, its good but as many reviews point out, some of the food is heavy on the salt so if you're sensitive, ask for less salt when you order. We got: - fried rice/Crispy Pork Belly Chaufa ($28): good with lots of meat but little salty - ceviche pescado clasico ($24): traditional and good, taro chips that come with it are nice - tuna bites: little disappointing, the rice wasnt as crispy as we were hoping - Empanada sampler ($24 for 4): pretty tasty and nice to share but nothing crazy special and a bit pricey when you think about it - Arroz con Mariscos ($36): peruvian version of seafood paella, they dont skimp on the seafood which is nice, one of our favorites - another seafood entree: cant remember the name but it was also loaded with seafood and tasty - beef tongue: also cant find this on the online menu but it was good - dessert - mango panna cotta: very tasty. Not too sweet

First time dining at Limón and it was a pretty good experience. I will say the restaurant was very crowded when we went and I'm glad that I opted to make a reservation for dinner. The ambiance at Limón was quite lively and the decor of the restaurant is nice and colorful, with some vivid, modern touches. The menu has several options for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. My friend and I opted to share a few small plates, and we still had trouble finishing the items we ordered. We got a shrimp appetizer with taro chips, plantains, and fried chicken with french fries dish. Each dish was made well, my friend and I both enjoyed the shrimp appetizer and taro chips. The fried chicken was a bit dry, but the fries were tasty and drizzled with a flavorful sauce and parmesan cheese. I was curious about trying dessert, but we were too full and decided to skip it. They also have an extensive drink menu, with a good selection of cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages. Service was alright but could be improved. The spot where they seated us seemed to be easily overlooked, so that could be another reason for the mediocre service. While I was able to check in with the host and get seated soon after, it took a while for anyone to fill our water and take our orders. However, customer service was more attentive towards the second half of our meal. The staff checked in consistently and filled up our waters on a few occasions. Overall, it was a good dining experience with some room for improvement. I'm curious to return and try other menu items or visit a different location. Possibly recommend stopping by Limón for a meal.

Every dish here is super flavorful and perfectly seasoned! The portions are also shareable. My favorite was definitely the Lomo Saltado, but my boyfriend really enjoyed the Arroz con Mariscos! The drinks were delicious as well. I love the ambience and presentation of all the food and drinks here. Everything is very aesthetic! There's also a parking garage next to the restaurant.

This was my first time trying Peruvian food and I was blown away. Every dish was perfect for sharing and was full of flavor. I can't pick a favorite between the Crispy Pork Belly Chaufa and the Arroz con Mariscos because both were out of this world. This place is pricey but it's reasonable for the portion sizes and area. I'll definitely be coming here for special occasions!

We had an absolutely fabulous business lunch at Limin. We ordered grilled octopus, fried seafood, salad, crispy chicken, and a beef sushi. We ended with a chocolate lava cake type dessert. Everything was excellent. Service was fast and friendly. Parking was easy. I will definitely be back for dinner. The vibe was fun and festive.

The food was amazing. Went to dinner with coworkers and the drinks were great, we ordered the ceviche appetizer with 3 different kinds of ceviche, and the empeñada platter and it was all amazing. For my entree I had the 16oz ribeye and it was amazing as well. Finished off with the chocolate cake dessert. Everything was really good, good vibes and staff was friendly, but the only critique I do have is that the staff needs to work on their aim. More than a couple of times they spilled water on the table lol nothing crazy but yeah it was multiple staff members not just one

We cane here for dinner since they are always very busy. We didn't have a reservation but we were early enough (5:30) to get a table. We started with the fried cauliflower... they had a nice crunchy shell and the cauliflower was not mushy. My boy friend had the roast chicken and he thought was very good. Very flavorful and tender. I had the rib eye steak and love the seasoning and taste of the steak. It aiso came with chimichurri sauce that is very good. Overall a nice place to dine. I definitely would go back to try other items.

This is a Peruvian spot in downtown Mountain View and it's so good! We sat at the bar and got a drinks and shared the following: Ceviche Limón ($36) - this was so beautiful and fresh Lomo Saltado ($34) - this was also really good! The interior is beautiful and stylish, and the staff are warm and friendly.

Arroz Con Mariscos aka Seafood Paella at Limon Mountain View

In the search for a local restaurant with paella, Limón came up as a possibility. A well-regarded Peruvian restaurant that I had not yet been to. There were a dozen people waiting outside to be seated. Indoors by the hostess stand, there was a line formed to check in. It was packed and loud. We requested an outdoor patio table. The waitress was friendly but it was difficult to get her attention at times because there were a lot of expectant tables. Even with a reservation, it took about 20 minutes before we were seated. The patio outside was a bit chilly with a cool breeze flowing down Castro as the evening began to set. The heat lamp wasn't doing much. In looking through the menu, the paella was called Arroz Con Mariscos, literally "rice with seafood". We also ordered the Lengua, three sauced strips of tender beef tongue draped over a bed of puréed potato. It was bursting with flavor and I savored each bite. I tried the Lychee Sour and the Bomba Del Amor, a sweet tropical vodka cocktail. The paella was top notch, crunchy pan roasted rice simmered with reduced broth served with prawns and clams in half shells. The Mixto Clásico Ceviche didn't leave much of an impression on me, to be honest. I could have done without it. I would like to come back to try dishes that are more traditional Peruvian, such as Lomo Soltado and Empanadas. The quality of the dishes is evident, but it gets very crowded so be prepared.

Trio ceviche (I'd get fish only next time)

One of the best ceviches I've ever had. I like really citrusy/limey ceviche and this was exactly that. We got the trio ganador (basically 3 types of ceviche) but we got the mixed version which added shrimp and squid for a total of $44 but honestly -- I would just get the fish only. The fish they used is red snapper and it was so fresh, so citrusy. My only complaint is that the chunks of fish are very large so I ended up cutting them into smaller chunks and then chucking the fish back into the bowls. -Lomo Saltado $34 (3.5/5) it tasted more like salt if anything. The beef was a little tough. The fries were cooked nicely though. Despite all of that, I wouldn't get this again because of the toughness of the beef. -Flat Iron Steak $34 (5/5) so good. Definitely would get this again especially with the mashed sweet potato and charred onion bulb on top. The chimichurri sauce was so fragrant and seasoned well. Especially for the price-- would get this over lomo saltado forsure. The steak was seasoned well and tender. Service was a little slow and it was tough to flag down any help, but overall the food makes up for it.

Went to Limon for the first time last week and was quite impressed by both the aesthetic and the food. We made a reservation for three on Memorial Day, and although it was very busy, we were seated quickly. The interior was gorgeous, it was the perfect balance of elegant and inviting. I would honestly come back just to sit at the bar. We started with drinks, and I tried a passion fruit pisco sour for the first time. It definitely packed a punch and was tart in the best way. We skipped the appetizers and went straight to our entrées. For my main course, I ordered the pollo saltado. The chicken was flavorful, and the soy sauce was very present without being overpowering. The only downside was that the fries weren't as crispy as I would have liked. If they had been, they would have added a much-needed contrast in texture. Overall, I'd give it a solid 7/10. The flavors were there, but it wasn't quite memorable enough to make me want to order it again. But I would definitely come back and try some of the other dishes on the menu.

I used to come here as often as possible and was always recommending it. However, I usually came by myself which might be the reason for my poor experience most recently, when I was joined by 6 others for my birthday dinner. I made my initial reservation two weeks prior and called to modify a week prior. I was not informed until arriving for my reservation that my party had a 2-hour time limit, which would have influenced the time of my plans. This does not appear to be a restaurant policy, but rather that they had another reservation behind us. The manner in which the host informed us was also quite catty. After being seated we were persistently watched and helicoptered by wait staff and what appeared to be managers. The entire party felt terribly unwelcome. We attempted to finish and close out by the two hour mark, and were informed more than once that there was a party waiting for our table. At least two items that were on the Happy Hour menu were rung at full price, however by the time we noticed, we just wanted to leave. I really loved this place and the food is fantastic, but I don't think I will be taking anymore celebration outings there. read more

The hanging flowers and vines from the ceiling makes this a very beautiful restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner and for family style sharing. read more

Good food Staff overall nice Bustling atmosphere... walked in on a Friday night sat at the bar, female bartender didn't bother to say anything except what can I get you? No greeting no hello no how are you? Nothing she seem to be not very customer service orientated, bad attitude, and put a damper on my mood. If someone's a bartender in a restaurant, they need to be a little more friendly. She wasn't.had the flat iron steak,decent but the accompanying potatoes with onions and mushrooms was very salty. It seems like overly salty is a common theme with this restaurant . The empanadas are tasty although expensive and the paella dish is excellent. read more

We were 2 hours early for our reservation but got seated anyway and right away. Food- it exceeded our expectations. The pork chaufa was a perfect 10! Service- superb! We were being check every now and then and i appreciate that. Alex our server and May the manager, they were very warm. Ambiance- atmosphere is very comforting, i feel at ease and really enjoyed my food because of such surrounding. We will definitely come back . read more

COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE GARBAGE! This place used to be good, but the service we had today was completely garbage. Our server didn't come to our table until we have been seated for over 5 minutes. When she finally came back to take our orders, she didn't even bother answering my questions about the menu. She rushed us through ordering as if she didn't want to be there at all. After our orders were placed, we finally got water for our table. Please note that our water was NEVER refilled afterwards. One of servers dropped a plate with yellow sauce and spilled it all over us and other guests. Two of our dishes came at the same time, but the last dish took forever. This was the last time we saw our server until we paid. The food was overly salty, the quality of food that they used to have went WAY, WAY down. I'm super disappointed with all of our dishes. While we were eating, one of the servers took our plates away, as if they were running out of plates. Not sure as to the reason why they took our plates away. Our server finally resurfaced after we waited for over 10 minutes to get someone's attention to get takeout boxes. Our server asked if we wanted to box our dishes together merely because two of us got the same dish. It is as if they're trying to save on boxes too. We wanted to box all of our leftovers, but she left without taking the last item on our table. She had the audacity to ask if we enjoyed our meal. Is this a joke? You never came around at all. This was arguably one of the worst dining experience I have ever had. I will NEVER come back here again. read more

The service here was utterly obnoxious and the food was average. We've been to the Burlingame restaurant many times but this will be our first and last time at this location! When the bill arrived we used a gift certificate to pay for part of our total. Our server hovered over our shoulder and reminded us to tip for the full amount (no problem) but then proceeded to watch how much we tipped and asked us if we were only tipping them 18%. Lucky for them my husband was paying because I would have zeroed out the tip altogether. Please train your staff better!!! read more

Went back for a second time. Service was great so was the food but the kale salad not so much. Had too much kale in it & not enough of everything else. Also they didn't bother to soften the kale with olive oil. Loved the calamari and shrimp appetizer. read more

We came on a Saturday afternoon and got to try some drinks as well a couolp basic apps, they were deccent enough so I'm looking forward to come back to try their dinner/main courses. Took my team here for lunch and can't believe it came out to over $700 (over $80 per person). I was automatically charged a 20% service fee but had to ask for water multiple times and after our server took our order she disappeared. One of my team mates sent a drink back because she ordered a margarita but they used mescal instead of regular tequila they charged us for both. Also charged us $28 for still water when regular water would have been fine. Wouldn't recommend because it felt like they just wanted to price gouge us. I'll stick to other local restaurants even though I'm a big fan of Latin food. Oh well. read more

Food was good but service and cocktails left a lot to be desired. For two, we ordered: Mixto Trio Ganador, Veggie Empanadas, Yuca Fries, and the Churrasco. And to drink we splurged on the Fiesta Japonessa and Colonel Manhattan on top of some red wine. First the good: we liked the veggie empanadas best. However both the ceviche and steak were also pretty good. The BAD: - Food Runners. None of them said a word when they dropped off a dish. We had no clue which was which in the Trio Ganador. Not only being mute, they seemed unhappy and disgruntled that there was no space on our table. And even more annoyed when we suggested to remove some dishes. It was not just one person but all of them. Our waiter was nice though. - The drinks. The $35 drinks were NOT WORTH IT. First they advertised mixed tableside but that was not the case for the Colonel Manhattan. The Manhattan didn't even come out until after my partner finished his Fiesta Japonessa and the 2 apps were done. Second, although the Fiesta Japonessa was mixed tableside, the mixologist did not look like he knew what he was doing. When straining the drink, he let a couple ice cubes fall into the cup. Neither drinks tasted good and were pretty watered down. I will stick to wine next time. All in all I might come back for the food. But I wouldn't rely on this place if I wanted to celebrate or splurge. read more

I was here for a team dinner recently. The restaurant has good space for large gatherings, and it was easy to call and make a reservation (they also have online for smaller groups). Parking garage nearby was convenient. The food and drinks were pretty good, if you don't have dietary restrictions. Being a vegetarian leaves you with limited options, most of them involving cauliflower. The empanadas were really good though, and I also liked the truffle mac n cheese. The rest of the dishes were just too salty. I would rate the food 3 stars. The service was honestly the worst part of the meal. The server would announce options and then get annoyed if people weren't listening (I mean, it was a large crowd, folks were catching up). When my colleague asked him to take a group picture (she had to repeat twice over the loud noise) he retorted "yes I heard you". So yeah, 2 stars for service. I'd probably visit again if I could sit at the bar (drinks were great! recommend pisco sour!) or get a table with someone else. read more

It seems like a popular place with the young crowd. Of course it is loud and one had to scream over other people and the hostesses and waiters can't hear you. Plus, if the first time is not very impressive. One wouldn't come back. Specially, when you get half chicken that may have been from an ancient dynasty. It looked so old and it tasted as old chicken yet it wasn't bad...but of course for the price it should be better... I'm so glad it was not the whole chicken. I was planning on leaving a 5 star review based on the food and service alone. Everything was great even though I came an hour before closing. The server was pleasant and attentive. I did not feel rushed at any point and wished I would have been able to stay longer. Unfortunately, I unknowingly walked out without my wallet. My wallet and the entirety of its contents were turned in by the janitorial staff. Knowing what integrity level of the restaurant's staff is, coupled with a wonderful dinner, I will undoubtedly be back! read more

We offer to drive friends and family to or from SFO from Santa Cruz just so we can eat here! My fav restaurant in the Bay Area ... I come for the ceviche with leche de Tigre ...and you should too! Last time I went the food was good, but the service was garbage. The waiters rushed each dish to be collected, and one of the waiters spilled oyster juice on us, and didn't feel like it was his fault at all. No apologies, nothing. We rolled with it, and enjoyed the food, despite this. Tonight, we had a reservation for 6:30pm for 4. We arrived on time, only to find a long line . . . of people with reservations. The house was packed, but they didn't honor our reservation . . AT ALL. We waited for the text they said they would provide when our table was ready, with no apologies for inconvenience. They couldn't meet the reservation time so we left to eat at another restaurant. And we never got the text to say our table was ready. Suffice it to say we'll never be eating here again. Limon does NOT honor reservations. Period. read more

Have been going to Limon since they opened their Valencia restaurant in the early 2000s, and this new Mt View baby looks like it still has to "cook" a little bit more to be at par with the other Limon branches: - Ambience -- This is the most beautiful of all the Limon restaurants we've been to, i.e., Valencia SF, 3rd St SF, San Mateo. - Service -- they need to tighten up. It was difficult to get our server's attention, and as difficult to confirm whether he got our orders correctly. It also turned out that they have a different queuing system. Our waiter had to enter our ceviche order first, then had to come back in the middle of our ceviche course to take our entree order. Otherwise, they would have arrived tableside at the same time. This is very inefficient, and cumbersome for both waiters and diners. - Food -- our ceviche was as good as ever. However, their "flagship" entree Pollo ala Brasa was too salty and didn't have the herb-y notes that it was known for. If it didn't have the sides and the tasty Aji sauce, it could have been mistaken for a grocery rotisserie chicken. read more

I visited the restaurant on Friday evening, when I called to inquire about availability, the host stated it was reservations only, since they were busy. Upon arriving the first thing that I noticed was the confusing entry. (The prior restaurant had the main entrance on the corner of Castro and California, an organic entrance to the restaurant). Many people that were coming in looked confused coming in. The new entrance is just to the left, they should keep this door closed since it's not the main entrance. It appears that it stays open to wait on tables that they have set outside. Some of the tables that have been set outside are quite ridiculous, for example, they offered us a table that was next to the bus stop in the middle of the street. Yes, some of Castro remains closed for traffic due to the pandemic and the restaurants are maximizing space, but this was a very unnecessary location for a table. The restaurant's Peruvian dishes were flavorful and well-prepared. I particularly enjoyed the chicken plate. While the food remained good, I couldn't help but notice that the menu had undergone some changes since my last visit. We were consistent patrons at the Walnut Creek and SF locations. Some of my favorite dishes were no longer available, which was a bit disappointing. However, the new additions were equally enticing, so I had the chance to try something different. The ambiance of the restaurant was lively, with vibrant colors and Peruvian-inspired. The Latin music playing in the background added to the overall energetic atmosphere. Sadly, the service didn't match the excellence of the food and ambiance. The staff seemed overwhelmed and confused, leading to delays in taking orders and serving the dishes. Since the location is new, I can only imagine this will improve over time. This aspect of the experience left a dent in an otherwise enjoyable meal. In conclusion, the Peruvian food at this restaurant was delectable, and the ambiance was full of energy, creating a delightful dining experience. I'm always on the hunt for unique dining experiences, and my recent visit to Limón left me both satisfied and intrigued. A party of four, we had a reservation for 7pm and after a brief 10-minute wait, we were seated in a unique spot outside- an old bus stop turned outdoor seating area. Kudos to Limón for turning an unconventional space into a charming dining spot. While the outdoor seating was fun, the indoor decor is amazing - a stylish space with of greenery and ambient lighting that begged for a revisit, so I'm definitely keeping that in mind for my next trip. Drinks were our first order of business, and Limón has mastered their sours. The Passionfruit Sour gets a special mention, as its refreshing tanginess was the perfect start to our culinary journey. Heeding our server's recommendation, we decided to share a couple plates. The fried plantains were a delightful kickoff - crispy, sweet, and fried to perfection. The 1/2 chicken was a hit, juicy with a great side sauce that added extra kick. However, the side dishes accompanying the chicken were a bit of a mixed bag. While the Yucca fries were tasty, only getting 4 fries was a slight disappointment, given the extra charge. Their flagship ceviche is a must-have, with fresh ingredients and great seasoning. The unexpected star of the show was the Chanchito a la Diabla - the pork belly was impeccable. The food was great, but I've opted for a 4/5 due to the service. It's evident that Limón has a few growing pains to overcome. Servers offered us other patrons' dishes repeatedly. While the occasional mix-up is understandable, it happening 4 times in a row is a bit concerning. It seemed like servers had been encouraged to upsell a lot, which detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, though our food arrived promptly, we waited a good 20 minutes for the check. Sitting at an empty table, eager to wrap up, felt a bit awkward. We came in to enjoy food and cocktails; however, our experience was disappointing due to a lack of attentiveness from the bartender. My partner, who does not drink alcohol, had tea, but no effort was made to offer a refill or inquire about further orders. Instead, the bartender seemed more focused on cleaning up in preparation for closing. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have experienced this type of service from the same individual. Due to this repeated experience, we ultimately decided to leave without placing additional orders and will likely avoid visiting on Friday nights moving forward. For the first time, I chose not to leave a tip--not because I do not believe in tipping, but as a way to emphasize the severity of the issue. It is disappointing because we know Limon has excellent bartenders, such as Jeffrey, who provides outstanding service. However, his daytime schedule conflicts with my availability. I dined at Limon with coworkers on a Wednesday evening and would highly recommend making a reservation as the restaurant seemed quite busy. Our server unfortunately neglected to inform us that we were being served still water. This led to some confusion as they repeatedly poured water from an unlabeled bottle. We were later surprised to see a $14 charge for two still waters on the bill. Had we known the cost, we would have opted for regular tap water. This definitely highlights a need for better communication from the service staff. Despite this, the food was generally enjoyable. The Truffle Mushroom Empanadas were a standout - the truffle flavor was subtle yet distinct, and they were surprisingly delicious even for someone who isn't a huge mushroom fan. The Truffle Mac and Cheese was also a winner, rich and cheesy as expected. The Anticuchos de Pollo (chicken skewers) could have used a bit more flavor on their own, but the accompanying hot sauce was excellent and provided a satisfying kick of spice. Follow-ups: 1.Yelp Account with a suspicious name have replied to my review. 2. In the response to my review, the self-claimed "store manager" tried to distort facts. 3. I had never spoken with this person, but he/she blamed me for not providing documents we spoke of. I got a response from someone who claimed he/she was the store manager who talked to me and blamed me for altering facts. In his/her own words, "... Though, in your email you stated you were the sole individual from your large group that fell ill from shared plates, so I'm very surprised to see the narrative change after several weeks. When we last spoke, I had ...". I had never spoken with anyone who's in charge of this case. All the communication was thru emails. In the emails I said 4 adults got sick. Please note that Emails can be printed out and posted here. So don't try posting distorted facts again. Beautiful spot with some hits and misses. Just moved to the Bay Area from NY and have been on a mission to find my go-to Peruvian spot. This place caught my eye, the ambiance is beautiful, but the food was kind of a mixed bag. The pollo a la brasa and green sauce were... fine, but missing that big, bold flavor I crave. The lomo saltado had a solid sauce going for it, but the beef was a little on the tough side. Now, the ceviche trio? Chef's kiss. Fresh, tangy, and totally the star of the show. I've been here three times and I always have the best experience!!!! My friend and I always sit at the bar and we love all the food here. 1. Drinks are amazing, Lychemelon is personal my favorite drink. It's sooooo good. The times I've been here I sit at the bar and Carla is the bartender. She is soooo funny. She has that Latina vibe always making jokes with me and my friend. Also been having Jonathan and Luis as a bartenders and those guys are really nice too! 2. Food always tasty!!! Limon is one of my top three Peruvian spots in SF and an absolute staple when it comes to Peruvian food! I first fell in love with Lomo Saltado when I traveled to Peru, and ever since, I've been on the lookout for a version that tastes just as good. Limon nails it! The tender beef, sautéed onions, tomatoes, and crispy fries are packed with flavor and taste just as authentic as what I had in Peru. It's my go-to dish here! Beyond that, their chicha morada is always refreshing, the ceviche is bright and fresh, and the empanadas are consistently delicious. The only thing? I don't love the location after dark, so if a Lomo Saltado craving hits past 7pm, I just order through Uber Eats instead. If you love Peruvian food, Limon is a must-visit in SF. Went on friday night with my boyfriend and we had an amazing experience!! We got sat in the small room, I think it was perfect cause the rest of the main dining room was a little bit to loud. First the drinks were amazing, I order a pisco sour and my boyfriend order the Peruvian lager. Food was fantastic, we decided to try the fiesta platter, the beef tongue and the crispy rice. Everything so delicious. The desert was pistachio with fresh blueberries and ice cream. One of the best I've ever had. Wine service and list is proper and lots of offering from the great state of California as you would expect. The Poe bubbles was exceptional and paired perfectly. Tea service is a definitely worth enjoying. For the locals, this is amazing. For travelers like us, a golden find. Cheers!

Definitely a family style dinner, order multiple things to try! Made a reservation couple weeks in advance for a week night dinner for 2. Celebrated our anniversary and couldn't be more happy we came to Ethel's Fancy. Service was great, everyone was friendly and explained the menu and process. Helped making some personal recommendations and the food came out quickly. The only dish that came out very slowly was the dessert, we did wait about 25 - 30 minutes just for the softserve, but all other dishes came out in a moderate time. Rouge de Bordeaux Milk Bread, comes with cultured amazake butter and some salt. Comes out super warm, puffy, and soft. Very nice pull and the butter is super decadent. Very great take on a japanese shokupan, we were hesitant at first, but it makes for a good appetizer 5:5 Warm Sesame Pancakes were like those mini sesame mochi pancakes at chinese dim sum, but the texture was slightly airy. The sauce to accompany it was unlike anything i've had, smoked trout, avocado and yuzu. The avocado was not over powering and the cream on top was whipped. Amazing pairing. 5/5 Sashimi of Kanpachi, japanese cucumber salad as the base and dressing with the kanpachi sashimi. I will say this was the weakest dish of the night. While still good, it was a bit too tart, it overpowered the other natural flavors. Fish was still very good, tender and not fishy, but again, over powered but all the tartness in the dish. 3/5 Yellowfin Tuna on sushi rice - this was a great shareable plate of upscale poke. The tuna was great, no fishy taste, perfectly seasoned and the smoked kira had an amazing pop of flavor. Very rich and decadent dish, absolutely loved the harmony of a slight smokey flavor to the nice rich, umami savoriness. 5/5 Crispy Caledonian Prawns - Absolute star of the night. We could not stop talking about these prawns. Big plump prawns, fried perfectly, where the prawn itself was not dry but the shell had a shatteringly crispy exterior definitely slightly coated with a starch to give it a nice crunch. The chili ramp sunomono was a great touch, not spicy at all but added a great touch of flavor that complimented the crispy prawns. Could devour plates of these! 6/5! Sword-Fish Katsu Style - A great take with sword fish, flakey but not overcooked, great thin crispy katsu. Accompanied by kumquat and cauliflower, helps cut down the greasiness. The sauce with it was a buttery tart sauce. This was a lot better where the tartness helped the fried fish. It was like eating a fried fish burger without the buns. I really enjoyed this one. 5/5 Lastly we ordered a softserve with peaches, shokupan croutons and a caramel dressing. We had to wait about 25 minutes just for the small softserve so we were a bit surprised as other dishes came out relatively quickly or in an orderly fashion. It still tasted great as a little small dessert but definitely was surprised by how long it took. 3/5 Overall, we were very happy with our experience at Ethel's and it definitely lives up to the standard it sets. I can't wait for other new dishes to try and come back in the future.

Worst of all, when I asked if i could get a side of *any vinegar* to be able to make just like a basic mignonette-ish option, their response was that they have *no vinegar* anywhere in the restaurant. I don't know how you brand yourself fully on a type of food (oysters), and then serve them ONLY in a way where you can't actually taste them! Also had a grilled artichoke app, which was fine, but again served only with a spicy sauce. Our server was great, I didn't catch her name though!

This restaurant is one of the last seafood boil restaurants in the South Bay that we have not tried…read moreyet. We decided to finally check them out. We arrived on a Saturday evening for dinner. The restaurant is located in a nice newer plaza area in Cupertino off the Vallco Parkway close to where Vallco Shopping Mall once stood. Parking is available in the parking garage in the plaza. The restaurant is medium size but maximizes the space efficiently with plenty of booths and tables for dine in. The modern decor is nice and sleek. Whereas the vibe is bustling and welcoming. We ordered the combo of 2 pounds of shrimp with heads on, garlic noodles, and 2 steamed rice. The seafood boil came out in a large silver bowl instead of the usual large clear bag. I found this to be much better in presentation. Everything was so delicious. The captain Loui sauce was so flavorful and sweet. The shrimp were plump and juicy. Garlic noodles were tasty. A couple of saucy yummy corn and potato were found in the bowl which was a good surprise. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Cap't Loui. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The combo options were a great deal. Free Ice cream popsicles for dessert were a nice surprise at the end. We will definitely be back as their seafood boil is one of the better options in the South Bay.
