As a Peruvian I'm always looking for good Peruvian food. Service was great we ordered the lomo saltado, tamal, and ceviche. Food came out unusually fast which made me question if it was freshly made or not. The lomo was good but the fries were too soggy. It should be a little more crispy. The rice was good. The tamal was good and something I would order again. The ceviche however did not come close to my expectations. It had too much lemon and the fish didn't have the fresh taste either. The cancha was soggy and it should be crunchy and warm when freshly made. Overall my experience was great here and would come back. read more

My wife and I visited Peru a few years ago and liked the food far more than we expected. Since our trip, we have sought Peruvian cuisine and were excited when we first heard about Lima. We've been here quite a few times and it has never disappointed. The staff is always friendly, the food comes out quickly, and the portion to price ratio is more than fair. Oh, and the taste / flavor is superb! As I write this review, I am making plans to go here again. Try any of the ceviche appetizers. The paella is loaded with seafood and delicious! Our very first experience with Peruvian food! Was kinda worried when we entered a totally empty restaurant, often that's not a good sign. Our waitress was very pleasant but spoke limited English and was unable to answer many of our questions. No matter, we started off with the Calamares Fritos ($8.25): deep fried squid with 2 delicious salsas, one tomato-based and one a little creamier with lots of cilantro. I took other Yelper's suggestions and had their signature dish, Lomo Saltado ($12.25): Beef strips, sautéed with onions & tomatoes, served with french fries & rice. Apparently, french fries and rice are authentic Peruvian. I was told later by a Peruvian native that the potatoes in Peru are totally different from here so maybe that's why (?) The beef was a little chewy for my taste but there was very little fat, a good thing. My husband went all out and ordered the Pescado a Lo Macho ($14.50): white fish & shellfish cooked in a spicy red sauce "macho style," very similar to a chioppino, also served with white rice. It was delicious and what I'm going to order next time. We will definitely be going back to Lima Peruvian Restaurant, I hear the rotisserie chicken is to die for! read more

The seafood was good, ceviche and jalea were good, of you are craving it, it's probably a good place to go in Portland, the pollo a la brasa was good too, it hit the spot, it was disappointing though that they didn't have the sauce that traditionally goes with the salad, ranch just didn't cut it. Came here twice and both times I ordered the Lomo Saltado. Solid peruvian dish here. The steak and onions were cooked perfectly and the seasoning they put on the fries are magical. After some driving around to locate this moderately hidden restaurant, we entered into the unassuming building and were immediately met with a smiling face and warm bread with 2 dipping sauces, 1 made of peruvian peppers and the other made of peruvian cilantro. The bread and unique sauces were a great way to start our meal. Although the saltado was primarily tomato, which I abhor, I decided to take a risk and get the camaron saltado ($14.59), and boy was it worth it! The tomato, onion, black box, distinctive sauce was a delight, and smothering french fries in the sauce have never made a potato taste so good. There were also plenty of tender shrimp, tomatoes, and onions on the loaded plate. We also tried the pescado a lo lima ($16.75), which came stacked with seafood beyond the tender, flakey fish cooked to perfection. The oyster sauce was also terrific, and the serving plentiful to the point that we brought home leftovers, a rarity. Overall, I had a fantastic experience, with delicious food and prompt service making this a restaurant I plan to return to. read more

I love Peruvian food. I've tried dozens of spots all over SoCal, so when I moved to the Portland/Beaverton area, I was saddened by the lack of Peruvian restaurants. When I saw that Lima had opened, I made a beeline for it. Rolled up at 11:45 am on a rainy Tuesday and the restaurant was unfortunately empty. Undeterred, my wife and I got a table and ordered what we normally order whenever we try a new Peruvian spot: Lomo Saltado, Arroz con Mariscos and a glass of Chicha Morada. Food came quickly and was steaming hot. I could tell just by the smell and the visual that the food was going to be fantastic. The thin strips of steak were tender and flavorful, the seasoning was spot-on (not overly salty like some places), the onions and tomatoes were cooked beautifully and retained the optimal "bite", the rice was firm but not dry. It was absolutely delicious. I scooped both sauces onto my plate; the green Aji sauce was not what I'm used to; less spicy and had more cumin flavor...not my favorite. But the Aji Criollo was amazing...very spicy chiles in this one...ate it by the spoonful. I wiped my plate clean and started digging into my wife's arroz. She's petite...doesn't need all that food. NOMNOMNOM. The Arroz Con Mariscos was a cross between a paella and a chaufa, which, in my book, is a killer combo. All the seafood was perfectly cooked...not a rubbery shrimp or shellfish on the plate. The shrimp in the shells were particularly tasty, as were the clams. I finished this one off too. The Chicha Morada was also different than what I'm used to...most places I've tried in SoCal use pineapple juice; I didn't get that here. Still very refreshing with the wonderful overtones of cinnamon. Totaled out to $30 for the two of us, which is consistent with SoCal prices. Bottom line...amazing food that will keep us coming back. Can't wait for next time so I can try my favorite dish, Parihuela. read more

Holy crap this was delicious and so worth it! Went after we saw the article in the Oregonian. South American cheap eats is what was advertised. Being a Friday, we thought it would be busy and it was. Friend and I had the Perihuela, which was a delicious tomato broth filled to the brim with seafood! We're talking crab legs, mussels, shrimp, and crawfish. Overall great serving for the price! This restaurant just opened like 4 days ago. My husband and I were in the area and decided to give it a try. The food was amazing. We ordered Ceviche, Pollo Saltado, Seco de Res (that was the lunch special and came with a chicken soup - Caldo de Pollo) and yuca frita. My husband enjoyed it so much. Not a fancy Peruvian! Not at all. You might call it hole in the wall authentic restaurant here in suburb. But omg their chicken. Don't hesitate order whole bird. No seats? Call in and make it to go. Don't feel like chicken day? Go for Ceviche is best of the best. Get mixto, or fish, or shrimp or all. One plate for everyone. Never share because you will never have enough of their ceviche. This place was amazing. The service was great, and the waiter was extremely helpful with our lack of knowledge in Peruvian cuisine. It is similar to Cuban or Puerto Rican, but I do prefer Peruvian. We started the ceviche (a must have as an appetizer every time) and it was hands down, the freshest and best we've had. I typically do not order the ceviche as it's typically a coin toss on getting fresh or smelly fish. This was fresh. The kids got Pollo Milanesa and it was breaded different than we're used to, but this was better my boys ate it. They're extremely picky, so this was a good sign. I ordered an extra side of beans to test how good this place is and it passed. It was just as good a quality as at Pambiche. The recipes are different, but will make you happy the same way. My wife got the seafood Paella, it came with a bowl of a pico like salsa that was perfect with the dish. E paella had zero fishyness, and the seafood was perfectly cooked. It was buttery and the salsa cut right through it with a vibrancy to clean your pallet and restart the process. The best dish on our table. I got the close second (Lomo Saltado) steak, tomato, onions and fries. I have a hard time understanding how this works, but it does. The tomatoes are barely cooked, so it doesn't get soggy and the fries aren't meant to be crispy anyway, so it's additional potato to the dish with tender pieces of steak and red onions. I expected the steak to be a little hammered, but it was tender and well marinated. This place is a pleasant surprise and is my new go to with the family. If There were any suggestions, I only wish there were a small kids menu, but really...no complaints whatsoever. read more

Legit Peruvian food. Reasonable lunch specials, and a HUGE menu. My favorite dish, Aji de Gallina did not disappoint. Slightly spicy from the aji amarillo peppers along with thinly sliced boiled potato garnish and the requisite kalamata olive. My husband had his favorite, Lomo Saltado, and was happy with the 'hungry man' portion. We sopped up the spicy and delicious homemade green sauce serve w spongy white bread. Absolutely incredible food. From the bread to our appetizer to our entrees everything was so darn good. I sampled a bit of everything from 3 other plates of different food and I didn't taste anything that wasn't delicious. What a wonderful hidden gem nestled in the middle of Beaverton!! Food: 1) Rotisserie chicken: so tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned! Comes with a big heaping portion of perfectly crispy fries! 2) Ceviche: Perfect amount of tartness! 3) Shrimp and rice creamy/milk soup: Loved it!! It was a cold night so the soup really hit the spot! I loved how the rice and shrimp brought out amazing texture and flavors! 4) Paella: Among all the other dishes, this was my least favorite. I wasn't a fan. Not flavored very well so it came out a little bland. 5) FREE bread: warmed and had a great texture! I would have eaten more I didn't want to take up space in my stomach for the other dishes! Ambiance: No frills, hole in the wall place inside a shady plaza. There's some wall art and decor but it's mainly about the food here, not ambiance. Ambiance has never been a huge thing for me if the food is good. Service: The ladies that served us that night were so friendly and sweet! They recommend great dishes to try! Water was constantly filled and they would check on us from time to time! Tonight we tried the lomo, 1/2 pollo a la brasa, an alfajor and the arroz con leche. The prices are a bit high for Beaverton (Around $14/plate for dinner), but man....everything was DELICIOUS, so will gladly pay. The beef in the Lomo was high quality and really tender, complimented nicely with perfectly cooked fries. The pollo a la brasa could be the best in Portland - Extremely flavorful and juicy. We used to make the trek to Gresham for Peruvian food at El Inka, but now will stay local, save gas money and put it towards food instead! read more
