So after a mediocre experience during Dumpling Week, I returned with my wife and what a difference! It really must've been an off-day when I showed up with my buddy. The food and service was excellent. Plus, they're having a "Curry Week." Or they did.... I'm not sure because the date written on the sign in front contradicted what our servier said. In any case, it was their Singaporian noodles, except with chicken and at a steep discount. We had a nice chat with one of the proprietors and I think this place will go into our "favorite local eateries" list. I know it's early to name a place a favorite. It just means that we'll be coming back in the near future. This day, we ordered General Tso's chicken, Salt & Pepper Shrimp and the Singaporian Noodles (with chicken), and a plate of rice. Best part: service Mid: food Worst: prices, ambiance Went for dumpling week. Ordered purse dumplings, general tso's and house lo mein. Appreciated they have a small box of kids books at the front door and were patient with my squirmy 3 year old. The food came a bit slow but I get they are probably busier than usual with it being the last day of dumpling week. Portions were decent but I was surprised that for around $20 a plate the quality was lacking. Beef was quite chewy and really nothing else to write home about. We thought the money bag dumplings would be fried but they instead were wrapped and steamed in greens. They were surprisingly delightful so def don't sleep on them. All in all, I probably won't be back but I don't regret shelling out $50 for lunch. read more

It is our neighborhood place to go when we are feeling too lazy to cook. Really nice ladies working there so service is good. It is a typical Chinese restaurant meaning clean and neat but not super fancy. I think much of their business is take out, Their hot and sour soup is outstanding. Lots of good appetizers. And there are some really good dishes like their green beans and Mongolian beef. We have yet to try the crab boil but will soon. read more

Delicious! My brother says he comes every weekend ! I finally get to try it and yesssss it was so yummyyyy !!! We had orange chicken , shrimp fried rice , crab puffs, fried shrimp, kung pao chicken, and something else but overall everything was delicious! I forgot to take a picture of our food because I was so hungry and the food looked incredibly appetizing ! And it was . The service was phenomenal as well . delicious chinese cajun hybrid food. best seafood boil i've ever had. the mussels are huge and delicious, highly recommend getting corn and potatoes too. the sauce on the seafood boil stands out, its sweet, well spiced and very buttery. get a side of rice to scoop up all the sauce! teacup dumplings are a must get too when they are available. haven't tried anything else here, we live in seattle but have stopped twice while visiting portland. i will be back next time i come to portland! service is wonderful here, we have a baby and the staff was accommodating and friendly with him. read more

If you love flavorful seafood boils, this is for you. The clams, shrimp, crawfish are fresh and delicious. I could eat the spice oil they come with on everything. We went here at 11am on Friday. They had just opened. We ordered the lunch specials. Kung Pao chicken and shrimp lo mein. All their lunch orders are $12. Food came quickly. I didn't realize that they do cajun food also. We didn't have time to enjoy the Cajun food. The Kung Pao food was definitely good flavor and had good spice textures to it. Went here for a birthday gathering. They were very accommodating for our group of 12. The server lady was 100% lovely! Great attitude, very charismatic, attentive and welcoming. She even offered to buy the birthday boy a dish of his choosing for his bday and then led the group in a chorus of the song! All of the food was above par. Salt and pepper chicken & handmade wonton with chili sauce stood out to me. General Tso's, Mongolian Beef, Cajun combo #4 looked amazing too, although I did not personally partake, the others seemed to love it. Came here for dumpling week. The good: -Food was great. We had beef & broccoli, general tso's chicken, wontons with chili, dumplings in soup, and noodles. All of it tasted really good. Parking was easy. The average: -Interior was just so-so. Decor was lacking, random tv on, and just generally meh ambiance. The bad: -Service - SOOOOO slow. We waited for nearly an hour for our food, with a mostly empty restaurant. We also had to ask for utensils, and despite asking repeatedly, we never got napkins. We wouldn't eat inside here again, but we would consider takeout since the food was good. read more

I cannot tell you how much better this place is than the previous a Chinese place (no offense to the old place...). It's not a fusion or Cajun and Chinese - they just have both options on the menu. The Chinese food is good - especially love the egg flower/drop soup at this place. The Cajun seafood is also great. We've gotten the shrimp - shell on for more flavor - and the crawfish. read more

Annie(sp?) has been my server several times and they are always a pleasure to speak with. They changed ownership in the past year, with new chefs, and are producing something special but I think they have potential and room to grow. Wish I could give it a better review and we were hoping for some good food and a nice evening. We went for "date night" and the restaurant was empty (we were the only diners at 6 pm). Thought that would mean good service but instead we got to witness (and hear) a woman staffer (maybe owner) yelling and arguing with a man at the front of the restaurant about some kind of issue with the payout of one of their machines from their attached lounge area. After hearing it for about 20 minutes, we thought that was a done deal until the staffer came over to our table to apologize (ok, that was positive). BUT, she then proceeded to recount the entire argument again to us with her repeating the story more than once. I finally let her know that we were sorry that she had to deal with this but we were trying to enjoy our date night. That didn't stop her as she continued to try to defend her position. My husband let her know that we wanted to eat and not listen any longer; that got her to stop. Unfoturnately, the food was just meh. The service from our younger server was good, but we were charged $3 for tea (never experienced that before) and then THEY scraped and piled up all of the dishes at the end of our table (without removing them) and gave us our bill. Like several of the other reviews of Tango Crab, my main complaint about this establishment is the complete lack of any kind of positive vibes where the furnishings/interior is concerned. The food was pretty tasty, but not the best, good enough to go back though. We only tried the Chinese options, and they also have many Cajun, a different focus for sure. The staff was incredibly sweet and attentive. Their menu is pretty extensive and they will apparently make a special effort to make you something that's not even on the menu if you have a craving for something different. I lost faith in finding good Chinese food in Portland. I've been to many of the other Chinese food restaurants in Portland, and none of the ones I've been to stack up. My first experience was takeout on Christmas day. The wait was not great, but they were one of the few restaurants open in town, and Tango Crab is new, so I totally expected them to be slammed. The quality of the food was outstanding. I've been back, and the food continues to hold up, and they are timely with takeout orders. The building the restaurant is in, isn't the best, but I don't dine in these days, so that doesn't bother me. This is my new favorite takeout restaurant. Pro tip: get the wanton soup read more

I have been to this place one time and the food was Phenomenal! WAY above average! However we have quite literally never been able to eat here since despite our many attempts. They are Never open! We tried calling and going in during normal listed business hours multiple times and they were always closed. This was over an entire month too. We give up! It's so unfortunate because this very easily could have been our constant go to for quick and delicious take out. Met friends at Tango Crab for lunch Friday.Nice quiet place for lunch, maybe four other people there for lunch, usually not a good sign. Speaking of signs, the sign on the Beaverton Hillsdale highway is for an entirely different Chinese restaurant???? Very limited lunch menu but we were each able to order something to our likening. We all had hot and sour soup, and was excellent with lots of veggies, tofu, ect very tasty. I had a spicy beef dish, not much for flavor and way too many onions, not recommended. Val had a chicken dish, and again very little chicken and way too many vegetables, including celery, celery seems to be a cheap filler at a lot of Chinese restaurants. Sweet and sour chicken looked good, and the Lo mein chicken looked very tasty and Gail said it was good. If I were to go back I'd probably skip the lunch menu and order a scallop, shrimp or crab dish. The service was excellent, but I think the food is hit or miss.
