We've been back to LimeLeaf a couple times recently and it appears that they've reverted their Pad Thai back to the original recipe and this is a great thing! No more red pasty sauce that stopped us from going there. We didn't need a reservation on a Tuesday night, there were only a handful of tables occupied at 6pm, which I didn't mind one bit. We only saw our actual server one time and it was when it took almost ten minutes to come by and take our order. The hostess was running her tail off doing the servers work... water, bringing out plates, to go boxes, clearing plates. Thinking back I wish I would have thought to tip her cash rather than leaving it on the cc receipt for the server. I wouldn't say this restaurant was very authentic in the taste of the food, as I thought the food was kind of bland and overall lacked depth of flavor. Previously gave this restaurant a GREAT review. I have been there many times. It has been my go to place to invite friends, out of towners, family. My review has totally changed. WHAT has happened? I invited a couple of friends from Anchorage, the food was about half of what it normally was, and the stellar service was not there. In fact, 20 minutes prior to closing, the server took her key fob out and started her car through the window above our heads. They appeared to be anxious for us to leave. The food was minimal in portions, overcooked, and not at all what we came for. We sat for a couple of hours, water was not refilled. It was a very unpleasant experience. I came in at 1500 on 12 July '25, we ordered two dinner specials for a total of $50 before taxes. All dinner special entrees can be mixed and matched with the appetizers with no additional cost. We ordered a Panaang Curry with "Tempura" Colossal Shrimp and Sesame chicken with an egg roll. The soups that we asked for, Wonton and Miso left us nothing to critique. Good and what we expected. The Entrees + Appetizers were both fine. They did the job and that's about it when it comes to any standout descriptions. This restaurant is upscale Asian Fusion, from what we tried, nothing screamed authentic or home recipe. There was nothing inherently bad overall with the dishes, but they were not a level to where if I wanted Panaang Curry specifically, I would choose this location. The real pro to this place is the price/portion tradeoff and the feel. This seems like a great option (especially in downtown Eagle River) to bring a date. The price is nothing shocking for AK, and honestly for the amount of food we got, $25 seemed a good deal. Date Night Option? Yes Feeling authentic/home cooked asian foods? Want a specialty in one specific asian food style? Not the place. Next time we come for a date night, we will get different dishes to find what better suits what we're looking for. Finally was able to check out Limeleaf! They opened in 2021, and closed just months after opening due to a family emergency. They just recently reopened in March of 2023, and I dined with them a few week ago. This is the sister restaurant to Basil Ginger in wasilla, and the space is very similarly decorated. It's the most upscale & prettiest restaurant that we currently have in Eagle River. I wish they had a sushi bar though! Service was excellent. Staff was super friendly, and helpful. Our server did a good job describing the sake to me. We arrived around 5:30 since we did not have reservations, and the restaurant filled up very quickly. The staff was great at working as a team since our server seemed to have a lot of tables on their hands! We ordered the Susa combo which was 12 pieces chef's choice sashimi, 5 pieces chef choice nigiri, a California roll or a spicy tuna roll, and choice of soup. This combo was $55 & I thought that was a fair price for the amount of food especially considering the prices of sashimi & nigiri when priced out per piece. The sashimi & nigiri was very fresh, and a good sized portion of fish. They gave us a great variety of different fish. The spicy tuna roll was good as well, but I was most impressed with the sashimi. We were two people splitting the sushi, and were able to get an additional soup for an up charge. We both ordered the hot & sour soup, which was delicious. Definitely one of the better hot & sour soups that I've ever had. We also ordered 1 specialty roll--the sunny roll, which was very light and refreshing. It had lemon & yuzu sauce. I also ordered a dinner special for my son as they have no kids menu. I got the sesame chicken & spicy tuna roll special, but I was able to sub jiaozi for the sushi roll. The sesame chicken was ok. It was overly breaded, and had a ton of sauce on it. The jiaozi were deep fried and also just ok. I probably would stick to the sushi here rather than the Chinese food menu, but I am open to trying more. I typically don't go for the breaded dishes, but completely forget sesame chicken is typically breaded. For dessert we ordered one of the kastle kreation pies that are on the menu-the peanut butter pie. I think she puts out some great desserts, and the pies are definitely scrumptious! Overall I think this is the best sit down restaurant in Anchorage. The food was delicious, and it had a great ambiance. Definitely think this was some of the better sushi that I've had in the Anchorage area. read more

As a 40+ year resident of Eagle River, we were very excited when the Lime Leaf first opened thinking that we may finally have a local restaurant worth bragging about. Having eaten there many times, we have noticed a common thread, that of being quickly rushed through the entire meal without the opportunity to relax and enjoy the ambiance and experience of a nice place. It's as if they want to get you served and out the door as quickly as possible. Sadly, tonight's experience was no different. Seating to check was about 25 minutes. As an extensive pacific rim traveler and connoisseur of Asian food, the overall quality of food served, reluctantly, has been mediocre......not great, not bad, but definitely not memorable. Tonight's Panang Curry was a disappointing example and may have been the final straw. Expecting a thick, creamy texture with mildly sweet, aromatic flavor and hearty veggies like red and green bell peppers, what was served was a runny, mild soup like product with no vegetables at all, quiet possibly the worst Panang Curry ever experienced. While we badly want to stay local and support Eagle River restaurants, I currently can't recommend this restaurant and would not consider taking out of state guests there. read more

What blew me away about this place was the SERVICE. It was SO EFFICIENT. I had multiple people waiting on me and all were perfectly coordinated. I ordered a beer and it was at my table in 2 minutes. I ordered food and it was there in 7. I got my tab right when I asked for it. All these functions were carried out by...different members of the staff! How do they do it? I don't know, but I wish more places took this team approach to service! They had a few tasty brews on tap. I don't normally like imported lagers because they are always in a bottle and oxidized or skunked in some way, but the Sapporo on tap here was crisp and clean just like a good pale lager should be! I had such a great experience here. Right upon walking in the smell was amazing. Restaurants should smell great and it already had me ready to eat. First off we came on a Saturday evening at almost 8pm and they close at 9pm. Sometimes you would expect subpar service because they're just trying to get out of there. But on the contrary the service was excellent. Attentive & fast. We got the coconut prawns and calamari to start. Calamari was great, it wasn't rubbery and overcooked, the breading was lightly seasoned and wasn't oily or over fried. The coconut prawns though - probably my FAVORITE. The prawns were perfect, breading was light and crispy with a hint of coconut that wasn't overpowering. The sauce was delicious with notes of citrus. I would seriously go back and just eat those. I got the Pad Thai, which I loved. My sister got the curry and that was also very good, chicken was tender and moist not overcooked as some chicken can be in soups. I will also note that we got curry chicken to go for our husbands, I ate a portion of mines 2 days later and it was still BOMB.COM. The ambience was great, quiet enough to have an intimate coversation but not so quiet that it was like a cemetary. 10/10 super recommend and will be going back for date night! read more

I work in restaurants, i wouldnt judge someone for messing up a little. However, when i came in to pick up my food, i realized the hostess that had taken my order also had absolutely no customer service skills. She was dismissive and said only the bare minimum to me, and was looking at me like i was an alien from another planet. I felt very uncomfortable and, frankly, embarrassed. Even after this, i wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt- it seemed like the restaurant had been busy and i know a rush can be draining. I was in my pj's because i was just picking up and it makes sense she would think that was a little strange, which could explain her staring at me. I tipped her and left, but when i went to open my food i realized she'd forgotten my thai tea! I was really frustrated at this point but made sure to be polite anyways. I drove back to the restaurant and asked if i could have my thai tea that hadn't been included with my order, and she acted completely nonplussed. No "oh, sorry about that haha" no acknowledgment that she'd messed up at all. It just felt like this girl wanted me out of there. We went Friday evening after hearing good things about this Eagle River restaurant. We were seated immediately and initially our waitress was attentive, but after saying she'd give us a few minutes she didn't return for about 20 minutes. We were almost finished with a glass of wine before she came back. My husband enjoyed his Mongolian beef, but the portion was very small for the price. I ordered the coconut chicken soup because the menu didn't indicate tomatoes; it arrived with a large amount of halved cherry tomatoes, which made it inedible for me. Our server didn't bring our food out (someone else did), and no one returned to refill our water or check if we were enjoying our meals -- I had to flag down staff to get a soup spoon, and by then the soup had gone cold. Overall the service was poor relative to the prices and portion sizes. Disappointing experience; we won't be back. read more

They have a great variety of food items. I tried the General Tso's chicken I asked for heat level three and it was mild. I do like spicy so for some of you that may be hot. The chicken pieces were crispy, meaty and delicious. My wife tried the coconut shrimp starter and loved them, they were also crisp (not soggy breading) and she loved the sauce that came with them. I love the ambience it's calming and I need that and a glass of their wonderful Merlot selection because I can't wait for my steak to come out. In March 2020 everyone was excited for the grand opening of the Lime Leaf in ER. Remember? In March 2020, pandemic closed everything in Eagle River. Remember? Happy days. It's March 2023 and Limeleaf is open and looking good! It's a beautiful restaurant on Mercy and the Old Glenn (across from Planet Fitness). A clean and classy fine eatery without the price tag. It still falls under the $$$ category. The ambiance and wonderful food array justify this. While some items in the classic category are small portioned, the quality is there. The one exception was a serving of Seasame chicken I had last week. Small chunks of breaded, processed chicken chunks that were fatty and gelatinous. The sauce was very sweet and rich, and the dish was saturated in it. I've noticed these days that is a common practice in Asian food. It must mean people like it that way. The white rice accompaniment was fantastic. A highlight was the Chicken Pad Thai. Then Mrs. E. squeezed too much lime on it. No matter. It was excellent. A large portion and therefore an outstanding value. I mentioned my concern to our server, Charissa(?). "Sir, if you're dissatisfied, we take it off your bill. The owner won't have you unhappy here." Well, Lime Leaf, you've just guaranteed our return. There are plenty of people on the move in here. Topping off water, removing dirty dishes, whatever you desire. I can't think of a time I was more pampered. On our first visit, we were given a 30 minute wait time. We were at our table within 10 minutes. I ordered the chicken pad Thai, shrimp cakes, and salt & pepper Shanghai prawns, and fireball roll. The only thing remotely good was the fireball roll. The salt & pepper Shanghai prawns were straight-up bland. The chicken pad Thai had an unbearable burnt smell/taste, so we returned it. They apologized because there was a new cook and redid the order. Sadly, it wasn't much better. No burnt smell/flavor, but it was extremely bland, which was sadly better than the first iteration. This restaurant finally re-opened after a long closure during COVID, so we went to check it out again. We were so appreciative that they opened since there are only so many cute spots like this in Eagle river. It's definitely clean and upscale Asian restaurant that's great for date nights. The presentation of foods are nice and decorative. Beautiful ambiance with nice lighting. They are pretty good with Thai foods. Japanese or Korean items are okay - not super authentic in terms of flavors but probably because they are trying to be fusion cuisines. All foods are generally well-seasoned little on the salty side. It works well with a bowl of white rice to balance it out. Their menu seemed a little big like all the other Asian places and had lots of popular things that people would normally want. My toddler was super excited about the crazy straw and ended up drinking so much water which is a big win. He also explored other dishes and enjoyed different flavors. I would come back to try different things in the menu next time. I'm just so grateful they are back from their closure to be honest. And keep the crazy straws!! read more
