This was our first time here, we've been anticipating coming here, but unfortunately we weren't too impressed. Here is what we weren't impressed with: 1. Chalkboard menu not very clear and a bit confusing 2. Can't here servers behind the counter due to loud backround noise 3. Paper on trays instead of plates was "laim" 4. Waited at the bar for 5 min while bartenders was were fiddling with the computer, looked up and didn't acknowledge me....and no other customer was there waiting. And to top it off, when I came back a second time they didn't have what I wanted anyway. 5. Brisket was not hot 6. Had the ribs, big on flavor but small, very small, on portion for what you pay. The sides were skimpy too for the price. I ended up going somewhere else and having a real filling lunch and spending half the cash. Other local joints give you twice the meat for two bucks less. The staff was really nice, the bourbon bar looked very cool and super inviting. Go there and get yourself a drink but eat somewhere else beforehand. read more

Decided to take a detour near Delaware memorial bridge as it was lunch time and not feeling the rest area lunch. It is about 10 minute detour but well worth it. Where do I start? Read a lot of positive reviews, but eating experience was the first and the last. Plastic trays and utensils, no wait staff, but prices like full serve. Had chicken salad and mixed BBQ sandwiches, food was ok, not great. Two sandwiches served on one paper lined tray which was not large enough to share. No side, nothing comes with sandwiches. We spent $90+ dollars in food and two drinks, go out side to smoke a cigarette in the smoking area and the band had a fit and closed the doors so we couldn't see the band. Great BBQ place. We ordered a bunch for a work meeting and everyone loved it. Good options, great sides.

Brisket dry. Ribs dry. Pulled pork dry. Even the damn sausage was dry. Way over priced and so was the drink menu, 15 for a mixed bourbon drink on the front of the menu for a barbecue joint was ridiculous. The meet cutter at the front was really nice but when we got to the register everyone looked at us and made us wait a good 10 mins before I asked to pay. As soon as we sat down the manager came up to us to ask how the food was and I was just sitting there looking at dry brisket so I said good to get him away from me. The place is nice and would be a hit if they didn't screw up a brisket. It's not hard I smoke brisket and ribs all the time. Everything about this place just seems off. Staff definitely needs to be retrained on how to properly barbecue. Only one star because the Mac and cheese was decent. Definitely not coming back. read more

Really good food. Long lines always mean good food, right? I've been a few times when they've run out of a few menu items but that must mean that those items are really good. More reason to comeback! I'd rather have someone tell me they're out than try and fudge together a plate that isn't exactly how they planned it to be. Full of last minute decisions and lower quality ingredients from whatever their backup plan might be. Stick to what's good, if it's out, go back and get it next time. read more

Amazing barbecue spot. The brisket was my ultimate favorite. It was so juicy and flavorful. Just perfect. The sides were also excellent. The drinks are pricey but you get what you pay for. They are delicious- mixed perfectly with the right amount of bourbon. The decor is so awesome. It really transports you to another place. Service was excellent. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by a manager who explained the process of ordering. The bartender was great and checked on us multiple times to make sure everything was perfect. Well I had too try this place since people were talking about it and what a waist. I could have thrown something on my grill and saved my $18 on ribs and sausage. For 1 the ribs are not good and very salty dry and cold. The sausage was ok and cold as well. I live 2min from this place and there should be no reason the food is cold. 1st and last time eating there. Also someone please tell the girl that gets your food when something drops on the floor or she throws something out please change your damn gloves. Very nasty. Also paying for sides is just ridiculous when the prices are that high. If Dicks bbq was closer I would have went. My husband & I came in for a late lunch (early dinner?) around 3:00 pm on a weekday. It was very slow, there was hardly anyone in there. However some nice employees explained how things work. You order your food & drink sort of cafeteria style, pay up front and then go find a place to sit. We ordered a sampler to share and taste different items. We got the brisket, pulled pork and smoked turkey. The brisket was outstanding-tender & delicious. The turkey & pulled pork were good too, but the brisket def stood out. The sides were good too: mac & cheese, rice & beans, collard greens & cornbread muffins. Nice meal. I ordered one of their bourbon specialty drinks. Expensive but very delicious read more

I worry this restaurant is going down the path of no return. Their brisket is great, but all else on their memo is sub par. You now get to share a tray with ohers in your party and the comment was this is Texas style". I lived in Texas for 20 years and I was never served off the same tray. I was so happy hear a BBQ place opened 10 minutes from where I live. The first time I went, I had the brisket and the Brussels sprouts. Pure heaven. The brisket was so tender and flavorful. The sprouts were cooked to perfection. You get your choice of 3 different sauces: a Memphis style sweet sauce, a Carolina style vinegar sauce and a spicy sauce. All are excellent but the Carolina style was my favorite. Tonight I bought take out: I bought a pulled pork sandwich and the cole slaw. I was a bit disappointed in the pulled pork. While the seasoning and the flavor was great, it wasn't as tender as other pulled pork sandwiches that I've had. It was a bit tough and on the dry side. I like my pulled pork to melt in my mouth just like a good brisket. Nice staff and atmosphere. I'll be back. read more

Boom! Took my two youngest out to try this new BBQ spot. Fantastic! I got the Philthy Sampler and chose brisket, ribs, pulled pork, Mac and cheese (bangin), potato salad, and Brussels sprouts. The kids got the Young'ins platters - one chicken and the other pork sliders. All of the portions were generous. I appreciated the meats being served sauce-less so you can choose your flavors at the table. The pulled pork was my favorite - tender and tasty. Brisket and ribs were both good. Truly, truly the best BBQ restaurant I've ever been to. There are so many options to choose from and you can't go wrong with any of them. We had the brisket and pulled chicken with many sides included. It was all cooked to perfection and we wished we could've eaten even more. This is my go to for local BBQ that you'd compare to down south (think Austin Texas). Good flavors and quality meats.

Pay close attention to the listed prices and make sure you ask for an itemized receipt. There seems to be problem with overcharging. This has happened on 2 separate occasions. When management was informed that the listed price was less than what I was charged, they refused to credit my card or refund cash but instead offered extra food then a gift card. I ultimately felt a sense of dishonesty when I found that they never corrected the price listed on the board or the register price. Imagine how many customers have been cheated. The food is overpriced to begin with. On a positive note, the food is tasty. read more

We ordered the feast and I would say that the beef brisket was the best and really the star. It was tender and really juicy. The chicken and ribs are a little dry and would prefer that to fall off the bone. The sides needs more work such as adding more seasoning. It was too bland for my taste. The brisket was excellent. The ribs and chicken were just mediocre. I tried several sides as well. The best of the bunch -- roasted brussel sprouts. They were excellent. The other side: mac n cheese, beans and potato salad were fair. Nothing to write home about.... I thought the prices were on the high side. !0 dollars for a brisket sandwich and the sides were 3 bucks a piece. Add a drink and you are spending almost 20 for lunch! Too much in my opinion. Just had a very disappointing dinner here. Arrived at 8pm on a Saturday night. We hadn't been here before and didn't realize it was cafeteria style. We found someone to tell us the ropes. We lucked out and got a table that was leaving. No line but they were out of everything- brisket, ribs and chicken. They had pulled pork and mixed bbq. We ordered 2 pulled pork sandwiches. Got to mixed but they switched it out. I asked if a side was included and was told yes(they are extra). Got the roasted Brussel sprouts. My son got the kids meal which only has one option - Mac cheese with a corn muffin and apple juice. My husband got a can soda. We could hardly hear anyone behind the counter due to the band playing. The cashier was the only really friendly person. I was told if I wanted a drink from the bar to order from our table. I asked 2 separate workers if I could order a beer. I was told a cocktail server would be over. When I asked one of the two workers what type of draft beers I was told none. When I asked what type of bottle I was told - I was afraid you were going to ask that. She did bring me a bar menu. We were there for 55 minutes and not once did someone come get my drink order. I finally got back in line to get a soda. The BBQ was ok - not great but not terrible. My husband liked it better than me but thought the bun was terrible. The Brussel sprouts had a weird mild flavor. My husband and son said the corn bread was good. My son did not like the Mac cheese as he said it had too much pepper for his taste. They had a great band playing. Not worth going back for 2nd chance. My husband said he would give it 2 stars for the corn bread and band. read more

My husband and I went here for a friends surprise 30th one Saturday night for the first time, and oh my goodness ! AmaZing ! We shared the philty sampler and it was literally the perfect customized combination you could have for date night. We had the brisket pulled pork and ribs then chili Mac and cheese regular Mac and cheese corn on the cob and baked beans. It was literally the best comfort food you could ever have ! And their bar literally has everything and to top it all off they had acoustic playing all night. It literally felt like you were in the south. The atmosphere is just amazing and their staff is so welcoming and pleasant. Definitely will be going there again ! read more

This place is still disorganized. It just opened. The brisket is some of the best I have ever had...and I lived in Texas. The sides are ok. The mac n cheese and the beans reek of powdered garlic. We came here just before 6 on a Saturday night with 11 people. They were able to set tables up for us immediately (other restaurants were 1 hr wait). There is no waitress service but there is someone to guide you when you get in as to how to order. You get on line to pick out your food and then grab a seat after. There is wait staff for the bar if you want a drink. My husband asked for a specific bourbon drink that they did not have but the bar tender created one that he absolutely loved. The food was amazing. We had a little of everything. My husband loved the brisket and ribs while I also enjoyed cucumber and tomato salad and Brussels sprouts. All enjoyed rustically on a paper placemat. Such a versatile place. You can come here for a quick bite or come to sit at an eclectic bourbon bar while a guy plays guitar and harmonica. Reclaimed wood meets industrial decor was totally unexpected and very well done. The wait staff and management was very friendly and attentive. Really liked the legit Southern vibe -- from the chalkboard to the assembly line serving to the galvanized ice tubs to the butcher paper. My furniture-loving husband was particularly impressed with the chestnut table tops (it's a wood thing!). Tried the Sampler -- which was plenty for the two of us. The ribs and brisket were stellar -- pleased that we were offered the option of lean versus fatty meat. The chicken (dark) was relatively unremarkable, but good nonetheless. Highly recommend the mac & cheese as a side. The cole slaw was pretty standard, but had a nice texture (i.e., not too finely chopped). The bread provided to sop up the sauce was pretty uninspired. I was longing for some cornbread. Nice environment for a larger group, including families (bourbon notwithstanding). BTW -- no waiting when arrived early (i.e., 6:00), but more people came in as we were leaving. Would totally return and zero in on our favorites. read more

I used to live in Texas, Mississippi and good old Memphis and I know and LOVE BBQ. That said, finding good BBQ is like looking for a needle in a haystack in this part of the country. Look no more, GREAT BBQ is right down the street. Went last night with the roomie and his kids. I had heard get there early cause they run out. Well sure enough, we got there about 7pm to find no brisket or pulled pork. Disappointed but there are still ribs left. The ribs were melt in your mouth! Charlie Vargos you got serious competition!!! Just the right amount of sauce, crunchy bark, and the meat fell off the bone. Great selection of sides, we got brussel sprouts, mac & cheese and corn, all of which were delish. The pasta salad looked yummy but we already had way too much on the tray so I'll have to wait till next time. The cafeteria style setting was a little confusing for my party but that's the way it's done in places like Goode's in Houston. Don't worry, there are greeters that explain it all for the uninitiated. Remember, this is a BBQ joint not a fancy steakhouse, don't be put off by the paper containers and plastic utensils. Fine china and silverware are overrated anyway. The bar area was very chill, with a retro Southern look, and a nice little acoustic trio performing. The whole experience made me home sick. I'm already making plans with a few friends to come early on a weekend to for a couple of bourbon flights and try the brisket and pork before they sell out. read more
