I have tried many Mexican places in the DFW area but they have all been more of a Tex Mex feel to them (because we are in Texas). But this hole in the wall is like walking into a small restaurant in Mexico. We we're immediately and warmly greeted upon entering and even though we were the only non-Spanish speaking people in the restaurant, the wait staff made us feel very welcome. The food was VERY good quality. The chicken in the enchiladas tasted fresh and the plate came with a flat steak which was amazingly tender. Everything tasted like it was cooked to order and it was surprisingly light despite the amount of food! I will be coming back and recommending my friends to come and try it out! read more

Wow. What a hidden jewel. It's was New Year's Eve. I was bored with the usual Oak Cliff Mexican places. So I asked Yelp. What was the best hole in the wall Mexican in Oak Cliff. Limon's was near the top of the list. We arrived around 2 pm and was greeted be a beautiful cheerful young lady. The menu was on the wall with photos which she took time to explain each item. We ordered, got our Mexican Cokes our of the box and waited. The food arrived at our table. It was a wonderful exciting explosion of flavors. This place must be a neighborhood secret as we were the only "gringos" in the place. Pray to God that people in the suburbs don't find out about this place. read more

Amazing. I haven't had such good enchiladas since I found a little gem in Denver. Tamales were so so good. Consume soup was outstanding. Tortillas were super fresh and salsas were fantastic although you barely need them because the food was perfectly seasoned. Counter service but more comfortable than you would think especially in the wooden booths. Bring your own beer or any drinks really. Their selection is very limited. There is more to a restaurant than food. It supposed to be an enjoyable and safe experience. This restaurant is without waiters and waitresses. It is bare bones and dangerous. The area seems a bit unsafe when the sun goes down. The owner is not often present on the premises. The amenities are severely lacking as the operation is frugally cost conservative. I was asked to change my chair by the cashier after we were already settled in. She led is to a table in the back with 3 small brown wooden chairs. We were asked to be seated. The chair I sat on exploded and I was thrown to the ground. A photo is posted. It appeared that this chair had failed previously. My head hit hard against the wall and I saw stars. The cashier did refund the purchase price without us asking. The boss never did arrive. This restaurant has no wifi as well. Safety is not a priority and the food safety is an unanswered question. Just not really a caring place. No body smiles. read more

Just like everyone else states. Authentic Mexican food is served here, nothing like those other places that claim to have that. I had to ask who was cooking back there and the guy at the counter mentioned it was his mom!!! Oh boy that took it up a notch for me. Or several really. I'm super glad we found this place. Customer service was beyond my expectations. He asked us if it was our first time and I said yes; after we sat down he gave us a sample of a tamale so we could try it. Who does that anymore?
