I decided to give this place a try because I wanted to have a meal that made me feel like I was out of the city and deep in Mexico. Glad I took a chance on this place. I figured I order the "#1 Gorditas Veracruzanas". Jesus! (No not the kitchen staff; his name was something else) Jesus, this food was fresh, amazing, and definitely not routine. The serving was more than a fat boy can eat, and yes I am a fat boy. The hot sauce was not for the weak; it had just the right amount of kick to go with the flavor. The "desebrada" meat filling was seasoned to perfection, just like my Tia Juaquina used to make. Ok my wife and just came back from having dinner there, although something I never heard of is this, the gentleman who took our order told us they don't Serve top water because of a city ordinance, really? I thought dallas was one of the finest drinkable waters in the country, maybe your plumbing is not good but then again if is not at the city's standards how come are you open? Dropped by for lunch (a little hard to find but after two u-turns we found it!). Interior is low key with about 5 booths and one large table. Preparation was fast. Food was absolutely delish! Spicy! Loved it! Just don't expect a focus on service...it's all about the food here. I discovered this new gem on New Years Eve. I was tired of all the tried and true Mexican joints in North Oakcliff. So I did a Yelp search for "best hole in the wall Mexican food"and LImon's popped up!!! Upon entering the place, we were met by a very friendly, enthusiastic young lady. The menu was on the wall with photos of each dish. The food was fantastic! It's a BYOB place and it must be a neighborhood favorite. I recently tried this place with my family and it was great! It's a small shop, mom and pop style. I felt like the food was Mexican home cooking. I enjoyed the mole enchiladas and pork (looks red because it's marinated). It's a very causal atmosphere. Limon's is an absolutely incredible establishment. From the food to the service (which was some of the best I've ever had by the way) this place exceeded my expectations BY FAR. I had the pleasure of trying many different dishes including: The Chicken Mole Enchiladas with Al Pastor, Chicken Tamales Veracruz Style, Shredded and ground Beef Empanadas, and Cochinita Pibil and Al Pastor Tacos. Every single thing was incredible!!!! Fresh made tortilla, soft and moist masa in the tamales, rich but well balanced Mole sauce, and some of the most tender meat I've had. But the icing on the cake was the complimentary fried plantains they brought my family after the meal. Wow, not only did this show me the incredible hearts of the people who work here, but these, like many other things I had here, were some of the best I've ever had!! I have been looking for more authentic Mexican options and this is the only one I've found in Dallas other than taco places. (It was already my 4th time eating there) there is normally a guy at the front desk and he always helps me order something different, but this time it was a lady at the front and omg she was Soo RUDE. I almost cancelled my entire order. Literally disgusted by her attitude. The food was great but the customer service yesterday was awful. She should be trained on her customer service skills if you are going to be in the front taking orders as u are the face of the establishment at that moment. When I saw that this restaurant had 30 reviews all rating this restaurant as 5 Stars (at the time of this posting) I was skeptical of whether the reviews were legitimate or not, but I can confirm the reviews are correct. I live in Miami where we have some great Mexican restaurants and Limon's is the real deal. Family owned everything is made from scratch and our group had a sampler platter of tostadas, gorditas, empanadas and garnachas along with some tacos and pozole de puerco and everything was great. But my cousin and I were craving sopes so we found this place nearby and decided to try it- we'll be back!! We got the gorditas and enmoladas which were both great! The mole was a bit spicier than were used to (we like sweeter mole), but it was still good. And the gorditas were very flavorful and toppings all fresh. The environment was very clean and tidy. There are televisions on all corners and the volume was a little Loud so we moved to the middle tables away from the sound. Still a great place to eat at any time Of the day!
