This place is your downtown spot for a good empanada. The dough is flavorful and fresh. The ingredients vary from sweet to savory and everything in-between. They offer this light green cream sauce that adds perfect balance to the empanadas. Clean dining area is nice and wood grain table tops add a nice charm to the place. Friendly staff is super personable and efficient. Highly recommend this place if you are downtown craving an empanada.

    Nice and cozy restaurant

Nice little cafe. The service was excellent and the food? They are the King of Empanadas! So many different ones to choose from. I got 1 beef & potato's, 1 chicken fajita and 1 mushroom & spinach Empanada with their tater tots. We'll be back. Great food and experience! Cons: automated ordering that ask for a tip before service. Bathroom has a keypad. You have to get the code to use it.

We came here on our last trip to Dallas. We were staying near downtown and found this place on Yelp. We really love empanadas so we were looking forward to trying this out. The service was quick. The ambience was nice. The restaurants a bit small I had the beef potato empanada, which was good but could have used a little bit more spice. My wife had a breakfast empanada, which was OK. Overall, would only come back here again if near the area.

We were in town for tea around town and stopped in to eat before going. We had to wait a couple minutes to be waited on even though the girl taking orders made eye contact she turned her back and continued putting things away. It's a small menu so it doesn't take long to decide. We got one spinach and mushroom and one vegie empanada and for dessert we got on Tres leches and one apple empanada. Dessert empanadas would benefit with an added sauce but we're good just the same. It's small interior made for a cozy dining experience.

Look...I want you to try and look up an empanada spot that isn't this one. Literally not one lmao. I can't find ONE. This is the only empanada spot in DFW. So if you ever in your life are just craving the emps, this the spot. Unless you're Hispanic then your abuelita is yelling at you saying she got ts at home

The food was great but the service could have been better. This place was a 25 min drive for me & I came with a group of five, got there around 4:30pm. I've been here before & it seemed like they have new employees now, which may be part of the issue. I'm allergic to cheese so I placed my order with no cheese & was told it was too late to make a custom order. I was considering leaving when the cashier went to the back to speak with the cook & changed her mind & said they could still make my order. In the past I've placed my order with no cheese & had no issues. I'm thinking to my self it's not even closing time yet. Our food comes out & it must have been around 5:15pm, an employee starts sweeping the floor all around us as we're eating. We are getting the impression they want us to leave & also creating dust particles as we're eating. We told the cashier to tell her to not sweep until we are done, it's disrespectful & at this time also turns off the OPEN sign by the window. Mind you their closing time is 6pm & other customers were still coming in as well. We ordered over 100 dollars worth of food, other than those 2 things the food was great.

Was really excited for this place, but the empanadas were definitely a hit or miss. From favorite to least favorite, we got Beef & Chimichurri (added more chimichurri to it and it was absolutely delicious!), Chicken Fajita (added the salsa verde fresh to it and it really improved the flavor), Dulce de Leche (not much filling and tasted like too much breading), and Spinach & Portobello (very wet inside. No sauces helped make it more enjoyable). Cute inside decor, but empanadas themselves were okay. I would 100% come back just for the beef & chimichurri though. Don't know if I would even bother trying others.

Salsa is amazing! Great customer service and great flavor. Way to go Dallas. Sharing and will be back on the next trip. Thank you for the great service.

I went for lunch and there was no line. Register your # at sign in and start earning points. Ordered two savory and one dessert empanada. Space was clean and great Latin vibes. Savory- Buffalo chicken jalapeño with the chimichurri sauce and Spinach & mushroom with Salsa verde. The Buffalo chicken has a nice kick. Neither item needed sauce. Fillings were juicy and tasted fresh. The dessert option stole the show. 12+ living in Miami so the bar was high. The dough was crispy/light. Guava cheesecake filling was tangy and the right amount of sweetness. All in all, delicious. Empanadas weee in the baked and softer side. Definitely recommend for those going for the healthier made. Parking: there are lots and street meters next to Tiff's Treats. Salud!

My company ordered here to cater our Hispanic heritage month luncheon and these are amazing! Def recommend the beef chimichurri! Food was perfect and the service was even better. If you ever need for a large event or a football Sunday I would say this is perfect for that!

I did a Google Search of breakfast spots around my hotel. The Empanada CookHouse was one of the few restaurants that were opened early, and it was perfect since I wanted something light to eat. I stopped by The Empanada CookHouse for breakfast around 9:30am on a Tuesday. Small but cute restaurant. They made ordering really quick and easy. I used the automated kiosk to place my dine-in order and a server looked for me around the restaurant to deliver my empanada. I also appreciated how affordable this place was. A single empanada was less than $4, and you can choose whatever salsa to go with your empanada. The empanada was a good size, and it was just the right amount of food for me. I got a beef and potato empanada with a side of chimichurri sauce. They use ground beef for the empanada, and the potatoes were finely diced. The flavor of the empanada was amazing, and I made a great choice with the chimichurri sauce. The spiciness of the chimichurri sauce is not for the faint of heart, but I loved how spicy it was. My only complaint about the empanada was that it was warmed up all the way through, hence the 4-star instead of 5. When I split the empanada in half, the filling in the center was definitely cold.

    3 Empanada special for lunch.

The Empanadas are the best I ever had. I would definitely recommend this place to any I know.

Very average food. It wasn't anything to write home about. The filing in the empanadas wasn't the greatest.

Their coffee is also tasty. I got cold brew this time, and it turned out to be a cinnamon (maybe PS) cold brew. I love cinnamon in my coffee, so no complaints. Other reviews have some complaints about service. The folks working here aren't the "warm, fuzzy" types, but they are respectful and good at what they do. The ambiance is quiet and laid back. Mostly med students, healthcare workers, and patients hanging out - so being loud is not an option here. The place is tiny, but packed with flavor. I usually park for free a few blocks away and walk in. Since they are located in a Baylor medical center, there are lots of paid garages and nearby meters. But, I firmly do not believe in paying for parking. lol!

I really enjoyed the carne frita and thought it is almost similar to lechon kawali (Filipino dish) but this much leaner part of the pig. It was quite small, just a row of tables straight back from the front. I was looking forward to some good paella, so I ordered the Valencia small size ($20). It was served in a small sizzling skillet, which was harder to manage than a bowl. First of all, the skillet was steaming hot, and was more difficult to eat. It was literally dangerous touching the skillet's rim, which could burn your hand. My first disappointment was that they didn't seem to use yellow Spanish rice, which I consider integral to the dish. I used to make this, and it was a somewhat long process, letting all the ingredients simmer in the pan to ensure the flavor permeated all ingredients. This was served with mussels, shrimp, scallops, and calamari. I opted to have it without the calamari. It was also served without a knife. As some of the mussels were closed, it made them difficult to open without a knife. When I asked for a knife, I was able to wrestle the mussels open, but found that they, along with the shrimp and scallops, had no flavor or taste. Evidently, since it was fast-cooked in the skillet, none of the seasonings flavored the seafood. There was a lime stuck in the middle of the sizzling skillet, which was too hot to squeeze. Also, serving it this way left you to scrape the rice off of the skillet sides. The dish was acceptable, but definitely a far cry from the Spanish or Cuban Paella I love. For that, I will always go to Bulla in Legacy, which is also less expensive. My husband thought he was ordering a Cuban sandwich, and even pointed to it in the menu when ordering. It was the ropa vieja Cuban sandwich. Instead, what he received cost a few dollars more, and was a bowl of hot ropa vieja, along with rice and beans. He said it was good. The dessert of cinnamon sticks in whipped cream atop ice cream was also good, although not outstanding. The single women's restroom was acceptable; although it was unique in being the only eatery anywhere in this area without a purse hook, which made it slightly inconvenient. Although a nice mom and pop small local storefront, we are unlikely to return.
