First time trying this little place. I had not noticed it before. I came here because my go to place does not open until 11am. But I needed a breakfast taco! So glad I came here I ended having the breakfast burrito with chorizo & egg, refried beans and potato . They also add lettuces tomato and avocado if you like. This with their taco green sauce, hit the spot! I will definitely be back again. Only 5 tables in the dining area! My kinda place!!

In a rapidly gentrifying area, El Padrino is a gift. Located in an unassuming modular shack on Jefferson, this place has been turning out affordable, delicious tacos and tortas forever! When you walk in, you need to know that you may need to carry out because the place is tiny with maybe five four tops that are normally full. From the menu, I recommend ALLLL the breakfast tacos, my favorite being the chorizo & egg, my date loved the deluxe breakfast burrito with ham, and egg- which is what we indulged in last weekend. Their sauces are always plentiful, mix them up like Christmas. Finally, the service here is always warm and fast. My Spanish is bad, but my small attempts always seemed appreciated even if they were comical.

The best Tex-Mex for your buck. They used to be in front of Glorias in Bishop's Arts District and were suddenly relocated, but the food speaks for itself and they keep making yummy truly Mexican tacos and other "antojitos". Their Diet Torta (an ironic name, I'm sure, since they add EVERYTHING they've to offer, which creates a truly mind-blowing delicious dish), pairs perfectly with a traditional Agua Fresca or the by now cliché Mexican Coke, and you're set for an awesome meal, at the lowest price you'll ever pay for food this amazing. Gentle and always smiling servers in an old tiny building that might get a little too hot for some; you can always get it to go.

This place has been a hidden gem for years in Oak Cliff! Some of the best tortas and tacos on Jefferson! So glad that they're still in business! Staff is always friendly and greets you with a smile. It's a small establishment but their food packs a punch with flavor! Stop bye and say hi! Worth the time to check out!

Now this is some good Mexican food, only drawback is that it's so small inside and the restroom is a small walk around back

I came in mainly to watch the game and have a few beers, but the service was so good you'd think I had ordered the entire menu instead of just casually committing crimes against the free chips and salsa. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made me feel very welcome. Honestly, if they treat a guy this well for drinking beer and demolishing complimentary chips, I can only imagine what happens if you actually order food. Definitely made me want to come back hungry. The restaurant seemed warm and inviting with all the natural light, but as the meal progressed, there were quite a few misses that degraded the overall experience here. First, they didn't really have much in the way of non-alcoholic drinks except for sodas, which I typically don't drink. I wanted a flavored lemonade or an agua fresca. The waiter said they had lemonade and they could add some mango flavoring, but when I go the drink, it was terrible. It was like a Countrytime or something to that effect. I couldn't taste the mango flavoring. The waiter was kind enough to offer to remake the drink when he realized I didn't like it, but it was the same again, so I gave up. It just tasted so artificial and gross. For my entree, I ordered an enchilada plate with scrambled eggs and potatoes. The first time it came out wrong. It was beef enchiladas and not the cheese that was listed on the menu. Then they brought out my plate again and it was now covered in queso. According to the menu, it was a cheese enchilada with chili con carne, but I didn't want to raise the issue. I was really hungry at this point and just accepted it. The food was okay...2 1/2 or 3 star territory. The restaurant itself was pretty cool. I like the location and the abundance of natural light, but the miscommunications with the kitchen and the generic lemonade drink exposed some real opportunities here.

Rather than ordering à la carte, I chose the Elegante Experience, a four-course chef-curated tasting menu that concludes with dessert for $99 per person. The menu evolves with the seasons, allowing the kitchen to showcase its freshest ingredients and current specialties, so every visit has the potential to be a little different. For the quality of the ingredients, creativity, and execution, I thought it was an outstanding value. Every course was beautifully prepared and packed with flavor. Not a single dish felt like an afterthought. The house-made masa program and wood-fired cooking really shine throughout the meal, and it's easy to see why this restaurant has earned such a strong reputation. The service was prompt, attentive, and genuinely courteous without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere strikes a rare balance, it feels refined while still being warm, familial, and incredibly inviting. If you're ordering a cocktail, I highly recommend the El Dragón. It paired perfectly with the meal and is worth trying. I've uploaded several photos with this review be sure to flip through them to get an idea of just how beautiful the presentation is. El Carlos Elegante is one of those restaurants that reminds you a tasting menu doesn't have to be intimidating or overpriced. It simply delivers outstanding food, excellent hospitality, and an experience that feels well worth the price. I'll definitely be back.
