The food was not cooked as requested. 3 of us asked for eggs over medium and one over medium well. They all came back like unhooked eggs, disgusting, unless you like raw eggs. The potatoes were like frozen potatoes already cut in cubes and also tasteless. The chicken sausage was tasteless and not eat able. It took a very long time to get served. Classic diner with plenty of vegan options! The first time I went they had a whole separate vegan menu- this time it was paired down to options on the regular menu. But no matter- still plenty of choices from sweet and savory breakfast, salads, sandwiches. Vegan hot chocolate was rich and perfect for a cold day. Used to love this diner but slowly going downhill. Went here tonight 4/8 and waited 20 minutes before someone even came to give us water. They have one server doing the entire floor with 1 busser. I was also very dissatisfied with the bill at the end. We went with another family but sat at the same table and we each got a big one her one burger special (two separate checks) NOT Family. When it was time to pay the credited the family we were with their buy one get one but not us. We thought it was an oversight but when we questioned it they said "one per table"... how do the decide which family gets the discount? Very strange and the waiter should have told us that when we said we want the big one get one burgers. Came back to try the updated vegan menu and feel about the same. The menu itself was extensive and looked AMAZING! Love the effort being put forth and really appreciate the care taken. We got the broccoli potato skins to start and they were pretty good. It's potato halves with broccoli florets and cheese sauce with a side of ranch. The ranch was the best part - tasted very rich and homemade. It was a little weird that there were full florets of broccoli on top and made it a little awkward to cut. Taste was okay, cheese sauce tastes like Daiya. I'd say 3/5 stars. For an entree I got the Vegan Chick'n Triple Decker (I think that's the name) and was pretty disappointed. It was suuuper dry and plain. The Chick'n was breaded nicely but still super spongey. It was cut into quarters and I only ate one of them and then filled up on fries. 2/5 for that one. Bf got the Mac N Cheese Burger and it was okay but for TWENTY dollars (!!) was not worth it. The burger itself was good (it's an impossible burger so that's to be expected) but the Mac N Cheese was bland and overall the dish was underwhelming. And on top of that to still charge $3 for fries? $23 for a burger with bland Mac + fries? Kinda ridiculous. 2/5 stars. After that we got two sweet soul desserts which were awesome as usual!! Will keep trying and supporting this place bc it's a local business and I appreciate the effort so much; unfortunately my two visits haven't left me satisfied though. Long Island is the land of diners. They range in quality from the awful to the fantastic. The Lindy excels at being a member of the latter. It's always clean, bordering on immaculate. Even when it's packed with hungry customers, it's a relatively quiet, almost placid environment. The wait staff is always friendly and accommodating and the owners usually work the front counter. If you haven't figured out yet, I love this place. I'd put their burgers on par with some of the best I've ever had. Personally, I'm partial to the French onion burger, but you can't go wrong with any of them. What sets this place apart is their specials that run from 5pm(?) to 830pm. In particular, the mixed grill is a sight to behold. You are given a plate with a marinated chicken breast, marinated skirt steak, and a full, bone-in pork chop. With this, you get soup (pay the extra $2 for the French onion), an enormous salad, two generous sides (the tater tots could be dish all its own), and anything out of the dessert case. ...and let me stress that I'd cut off one of my fingers for a piece of their rainbow cookie cake. I've also had the meatloaf...not something I'd ever order anywhere normally...and it blew my socks off. In short, we've been going there for the last three years and there hasn't been one time that we've been remotely disappointed. This is truly a hidden gem in Lindenhurst. read more

Nothing but good food, good memories, and good vibes! A few years ago, I visited with my loving grandma, and we had an amazing meal and took the cutest photos. Today, four years since her passing, I visited again and sat in the same booth, with warm memories of her. My family even visited years ago. This diner has an extensive menu, breakfast all day, and a separate, beautiful vegan menu. Everything is delicious and quality, cooked to perfection with an eye for detail. Even so, everything is fairly priced and most come with sides, such as soup or fries! The Chicken Cutlet Sandwich was simple but delicious and super filling! It came with fries, coleslaw, and a pickle. The shakes are only $9 and very stacked and beautifully presented! Amazingly delicious, of course. They will make almost anything you want or customize menu items to your liking! You can also get 15% via text alerts, which is generous. The staff is kind and welcoming. The food here is so good. Sooo many options. The service, however, is a different story. Unwelcoming, unfriendly. Didn't even get an offer to refill my water. And it was not crowded. How can I properly describe it... imagine getting the tallest ladder you can find, climbing up into heaven, cutting out a piece of actual heaven, and taking a bite? I haven't tried a lot of items on the menu but the grilled cheese is one of the best I've had on the island!! Staff is always friendly.

Can't speak to the service as we've only done takeout but food has been quite good. Great burgers & sandwiches and excellently prepared breakfast fare here. My only complaint would be that the non creamy soups tend to be rather oily, french onion for example is borderline shiny. That to one end the food has been consistent which is rare for a diner these days and we will definitely continue ordering from them. read more

I was so excited to eat here. Unfortunately, there were not many gluten free options for me. The vegan options looked delicious, I thought I would have more options. We came for the vegan menu for me. I read a few reviews good about gluten free options. There definitely was not. When it comes to food allergies it is frightening to have a server who doesn't know the menu or understands food allergies. Unfortunately, we won't come back due to the limited options and not feeling completely safe eating here. Went to lindenhurst diner today for lunch and got the impossible nacho, cheesy fries and the fried chicken sandwich on a pita (didn't know the sandwich came with fries already...) I actually really liked the sandwich but the other two weren't that great. The nachos were terrible. Needs a better cheese and more flavor. And the cheesy fries needs a different cheddar cheese brand but they said they'll be changing it soon which is great to hear. Other than that if you want to go out with family to the diner you got options now. I recommend that chicken sandwich Total for everything was $40? I think which is fine because it was a lot of food actually. Overall rating for the meal was a 7/10. Can't wait till they make more adjustments to the menu and fix recipes and maybe make something homemade instead of store bought packaged products. The host was friendly but the wait staff not so much. Regardless , I ordered a French Onion soup - which we all know is a pricey soup to begin with by comparison with other soups--but the size that came (?) The picture may not really capture how small the bowl was but it was about the size of a small coffee cup! I thought I ordered from the kids menu. Lol. Did soup bowls shrink here? The prices certainly didn't. I also ordered a BLT with an egg on a roll not toasted. The waiter kept repeating "With an egg?", "With an egg"? Yes, that's what I said. When the food came, my sandwich was on toasted white bread. He should have repeated my roll request:-- "On a roll"? On a roll"? I don't like sending food back for small issues so I just ate it. A few minutes after being seated and ordering construction started in one of the bathrooms with loud grinding and hammering which continued all throughout our breakfast. When I spoke to the manager when I went to pay about being seated there by the host his excuse was "he's just a kid" and "you should have said something". My co worker and I ordered here via doordash for lunch. We were in dire need of a good place for fried chicken and tacos. After reading some of the reviews we decide to go ahead and order. Our waitress Dawn was awesome! She is very knowledgeable,efficient , and prompt! Excellent service. I had the Italian panini ( I asked for a fried cutlet instead of grilled ) came with red roasted peppers and mozzarella cheese.( it was poor quality cheese did not melt) however the panini was hot and delicious, only could eat 1/2. It came with a ton of French fries that were long and temperature hot, delicious, coleslaw and a pickle. My husband had the Brooklyn special sandwich, unbelievably piled with corn beef, pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, on toasted marble rye bread , nice n temperature hot, also a ton of French fries, cole slaw and a pickle. There was so much on the plate that it left you no room for anything but to enjoy your meal! We both had iced tea n was great! We were not rushed through our meal! The diner is spacious, the hanging lights are kept very clean and sparkly ( who wants dust falling on their food) . We went on a Thursday evening little past 7pm and was told we had a bit of wait which was only 5 minutes! Can't beat that! It was a wonderful experience, much better than a few others locally whom now are all closing around 3 pm leaving customers to go else where! You will not be disappointed. Fast, friendly service, really cute decor, and a plant-based menu that is to die for! As a vegan, there are very few options in the area that aren't just French fries and side salads, so I was really impressed with the offerings here. Voted one of the best Diners on LI and deserves to be so , many diners have gone downhill , but not Lindenhurst everything is fresh and huge portions . Visit Date: June 23, 2019 I wanted to visit this diner for awhile but most of the time we go to a diner my hubby wants to go to Terrace that's his favorite. Well I got my chance with my toddler to visit this diner at 1 AM. My backstory to this review is that most of the time my son is home with my MIL and hubby they let him nap late and than I am stuck up with him for at least half the night. I freaked out because I came home from work at 7 and he was napping since 5 PM. So I took a shower and told my husband I had to get some sleep and I slept from 8 to 11. Hubby woke me up at 11 because he wanted to go to bed, thankfully he gave our son a bath at least. So it was around 12 or 12:30 of course our son wasn't going to sleep because he napped late and he was trying to play with daddy while daddy tried to sleep so I asked him if he wanted to go out to get ice cream and he said yes. First we ended up at 711, he got a slurpee than he said he wanted to go to the diner for ice cream so we drove across the street and went to the diner. I was nervous because a lot of times my son doesn't sit in restaurants hopefully that will change. What do you know at 1 AM he was pretty much an angel at the diner with me. I thought I was going to have to box up my food but I was able to eat it. My son got chocolate ice cream with whipped cream and sprinkles, I wanted to eat something I could eat on WW that was 0 points so I opted for an omelette with no cheese and veggies. I got fries in case my son would eat the french fries and toast in case he'd eat the toast. My son got his ice cream first and ate what he wanted of it, than my meal came and he sat right in the booth with me and had the toast while I had the omelette. The omelette was pretty good, I had to add seasoning, I was skipping ketchup because that's one point on WW and it didn't seem they had hot sauce although if I asked maybe they would have bought it. Our waiter was pretty nice he seemed to get a kick out of our son and if he had any judgement as to why I had a child out at 1 AM he kept it to himself. Been coming here since we moved to Lindenhurst. Food has always been good. Tonight we placed a pick up order of a few appetizers to pick on since we didn't want to have to cook tonight. We are a family of 2 adults a 4 year old and a 2 year old. They don't really eat much so we were not worried. When my husband came home with the food we both were actually stunned to see that the portions were horribly small. The cost of an order of mozzarella sticks was $14.00 and we got 4 mozzarella sticks. 4.. every other diner I have ever been to always gives 6-8. 4 sticks for 14.00 is quite ridiculous when you break it down to how much they are charging each. You could literally buy 4 packs of 10 of string cheese for the price they are charging. We also got mozzarella fries and the container was not even full with fries and that was another 10.00+ item. Such a shame we will unfortunately not be going back and will travel the distance back to the embassy diner to actually get our moneys worth and not be ripped off. Especially in times that we are in now, when we go out we expect to get a decent portion when we are paying what this place is charging. read more

I've been to this Diner many times. What impressed me this last time is they follow cdc guidelines. Hand sanitizer at every table in cool mason jars. Staff all wear masks properly and use hand sanitizer. They use disinfectant wipes to wipe down menus and door handles. It was impressive how they took precautions to insure the safety of customers. My nephew looked up the best rated diners on Long Island and this came up as one of the top 5. I don't know how??? There were four of us and no one thought there was anything special about the food. I ordered what was supposed to be steak tips on garlic bread with melted mozzarella, I don't eat the bread or the fries so I asked for a side salad instead and no bread. They brought me the dish and all that was on there was a few little pieces of meat with some melted cheese and a little lettuce with raw white onion on it and they charged me $20.50!!! My sisters, our kids and I went here this morning and had the pleasure of having James B. as our server. It was busy!! But we had such a great experience! James never made us wait for anything. Immediately took the kids order and bought their food out right away which was AWESOME!! Our drinks were always filled and never really had to even ask for anything. Even though he was super busy, he didnt show it, which always makes for a great dining experience for the guests. All the servers are fantastic here. We come here every so often from about 30 minutes away for there incredible vegan options. It's my favorite vegan menu on long island! I get the vegan chikn caesar wrap! So delicious! We typically order apps, we just weren't so hungry this time. My sister got the bfast quesadilla (not vegan) and my other sister got the vegan sausage egg and cheese. I've been dying to try this place out because they have a full vegan menu. I wasn't too hungry so honestly just got a salad which was pretty good, just not sure it was worth $20. the salad included mixed greens, caramelized walnuts, cucumbers and tomatoes with a vinaigrette type of dressing. The "chicken" was pretty good but it really was just a regular mock chicken patty that I could probably buy at stop and shop. So I do believe if the portion size was a little bigger, it would justify the extremely expensive price. I ordered a Chicken Cobb Salad to-go. The description said "Avocado, cherry tomato, cheddar, bacon, hard boiled egg. Honey balsamic dressing". My salad came with green bell pepper, cucumber and also no hard boiled egg. I am mildly allergic to bell peppers and wasn't able to eat the salad at all. I'm very disappointed. Probably my new favorite diner. As a vegetarian, despite most diners having mile long menus, there usually isn't that many good options to order. This place is the exception. Their extensive vegan menu made me feel like a little kid on christmas. Their vegan buffalo cheese fries?? AMAZING. Seriously, their in house vegan cheese sauce was so good i almost thought it might be real cheese. My boyfriend who has zero dietary restrictions liked it as well! He got a burger and i got the vegan LD chick'n wrap. Portions were big, just like most diners. We left full and satisfied with plans to come back soon! Service was good as well, our server looked like one of the only ones there and i saw him walking all over the restaurant and as someone who also works in the restaurant business i know how hectic that feels. He did a great job considering how many tables he must've had. I'd also like to mention that their outdoor seating is underneath a large tent, but it isn't enclosed like other diners. I've been wary to eat outside post quarantine at other diners because their tents defeat the purpose of eating outside by having an enclosed tent. This was not the case here!
