    Pork Noodles 8.50
    Christopher S.

KATY, TX / CHINESE, DUMPLINGS / 02-09-22 / TAKEOUT LUNCH +The pork dumplings (9.00) were really good. +My two toddlers crushed the chicken dumplings (9.00). +Clean and tidy restaurant with plenty of seating. +Super friendly front-of-the-house staff. +Loyalty rewards program. -The pork noodle soup (8.50) was packed into a single to-go container bowl. By the time I got home (12-minute drive), the noodles were soggy and almost inedible. I voiced my concern to the cashier and she said the noodles would be okay for 20 minutes. It was almost a 4-star experience, but the noodle soup was ruined by the time I got home to eat it. Hopefully, the management/owner sees this and updates their takeout packaging.

Ling Long is a place that's quite affordable yet tastes... imperial. That's the best word I could come up with for it. It's one of those specialized-menu places that only have one or two real dishes, but do what it does quite well. These kinds of restaurants are very popular in Asia, yet for some reasons everywhere in the States seem to go the opposite direction, with as many items in the menu as possible. In any case, Ling Long's food is very simple, yet warm and filling. I usually grab a bite of each dish first, so I have some reviewing material, before finishing the dishes that don't store well for my dinner, and then refrigerate the rest after I'm full. But the chicken noodles broth was so good, it just kept me chowing down the bowl and forgetting this strategy. It's very warm and light, yet has a surprising depth of flavor. Exceptionally creamy, yet not sweet. And the amount of chili oil used is just enough to give it nice floral notes without becoming pungent. I normally am not a broth person, I care more about the toppings and the chicken does its job very well, but in this case it's truly the broth that's the star of the dish. The egg-tomato soup is similarly warm, light and aromatic, yet thick. It clearly uses a lot of sesame oil, yet never to the point where it overpowers the tomato flavor. If anything, it felt like I'm eating a traditional Saigon crab soup but instead of crab it's tomatoes instead. Together with the chicken noodles, these two dishes made me feel I'm inside a palace. Better yet, I'm inside a CHINESE palace. Good stuff. I actually didn't feel either way about the pork dumplings. On one hand the meat filling is pretty flavorful, on the other hand it's too doughy for me. If only the skin was thinner... The tea egg is also good, goes well with the leftover broth and I can see why tea egg noodles is a menu choice. Not sure how to describe it, though. It tastes like any other hard-boiled egg, but the tea mellowed out the harsh taste of the yolk and gave the whites some earthy flavor to balance it, I suppose. The egg tarts are egg tarts. Not gonna say too much about them. All in all, Ling Long is a solid A tier. The menu is limited, but sh- if you are looking for some soup then you'll get QUITE some soup. Actually GOOD restaurants are surprisingly hard to find in Houston, so I'm glad to have found something that's not only great but is close to my home too!

First time trying their food. Walking in around 6, no one eating in but a brisk takeout service. We ordered 10 pork dumplings, chicken noodle soup, wonton soup, spring roll, Edamame and fried rice. Overall the food is very fresh, homemade and cooked to perfection. Advertised as homemade and nothing in the food would suggest otherwise. The pork dumplings were a good size, large portion of pork and crispy fried bottoms. I would have like a larger portion of soy sauce though. Both soups had the same base, two large broccoli piece and two carrots. The noodles were cooked perfection. There were six wontons and a large portion of chicken (very tender). Spring was a tad over fried, and a bit on the small side, but tasty. Fried rice was not overly salty and not overly greasy - nice side. In all a good meal, quick and we will return...

Small menu consisting of dumplings, pork buns, and 3 different noodle soups with a few side options. There are two combo options, 1 with 10 dumplings and a side and the other with a noodle soup and a side. I've got 10 pan fried chicken dumplings with an egg tomato soup and a half order of pan fried pork bun. Nothing special about the dumplings or pork buns. The best thing about this place is the price for the food.

The food is uncommonly fresh, not oily, and not salty. This is a newish cafe restaurant and the decor shows it. Given what I've just noted, I'd expect prices to be higher but they aren't. This would be a great lunch spot for people new to Taiwanese food or really anyone. Strong five stars for me.

I can not believe that I've been in Houston for so long and just discovered this place. 19383920/10 would recommend. Food is amazing, owner is amazing, and when I say the buns taste like/better what my mom makes (mom please don't see this ) that's one of the highest compliments. Picture doesn't do it justice.

The dumplings were real doughy. Maybe I was expecting more of a dim sum type of dumpling. The sauce to dip needed more flavoring too. Boba tea was more milk than tea. On a positive note the restaurant was very clean and inviting.

Omg their name is something hahaha. Anyways, solid dumplings and baos! Wished the dumpling wrappers were a bit thinner though

Finally got the opportunity to check this place out today! I didn't have any dinner for breakfast so I had a huge lunch today. I decided I was going to try Linglong out! I've driven past this place before at night after they closed and finally I had the opportunity to try them out. This place is a very cute little restaurant with a very quiet atmosphere. It's very relaxing here. The cashier who took my order was very kind. I called ahead and asked if they accept Apple Pay because I didn't bring my wallet with me and I was already far from home. When I came in she greeted me and told me she'd be right back to take my order. I ordered the Tea Egg noodles & the combo 1 pork dumplings. Let me start with the Tea Egg noodles. The broth was rather tasty savory broth. The eggs themself were flavorful and the yolks were done, but not over done! The only thing I had is that the tea eggs didn't really taste like tea eggs if you get me ? Usually you get savory & sweet. You can taste the star anise and a bit of bite from the Sichuan pepper corns. I had to call my mom to ask how my Ah Ma how she makes them, because they didn't taste like Tea Eggs to me lol. Overall they were still delicious! The next item was the pork dumplings. I grade them on taste, appearance, and meat to wrapper ratio. Appearance they looked good Taste they were a bit bland for my taste, but the ginger sauce they came with was delicious! Meat to wrapper ratio these were packed with meat! A lot of places use cabbage as a filler to put less meat. These were stuff and it was pretty lean pork at that. The wrappers tasted homemade. Chewy but not overly chewy. Just enough to hold that pork in place. They have a small menu here, but if you are driving by give them a try!

The dumplings were great but the noodles were just okay. I had the pork dumplings but I plan to try the chicken and veggie ones later. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was nice.

The mapo tofu is one of the best we've had outside of Bellaire with spicy, savory, numbing, and warmth that you expect from a good mapo tofu. Crispy popcorn chicken is a classic that's spicy, lightly fried, and crisp. It has an authenticity that other places around can't replicate and makes you keep craving more. The portions are also appropriate for their price. Service is incredibly quick, and you can order as you go and receive your dish within 10-15 minutes, regardless of how busy they are. As for the ambiance, it's loud, it's hectic, and it's simple... maybe a stretch, but makes me feel like I'm eating at a mom and pop shop in the heart of China. This place is definitely a go to if I'm convincing a friend of Houston's great food scene! Rating: 4.5/5

On my most recent visit we ordered mapo tofu with pork intestines off the specials menu - a hybrid of two of my favorite Sichuan-style dishes. The blend of bouncy, savory morsels amidst tender, saucy tofu was at once revolutionary and so obvious; why hadn't I yet seen this at any other restaurant? And sure, innards may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's important for you to know that none of my past orders from the 50+ item menu have ever failed me, whether enjoyed in the restaurant or at home. Maybe you'd prefer the aromatic, classic, perfectly balanced three-cup chicken? Or the sweet-skinned duck, glazed so delicately that specks of sugar crystal threaten to jump off onto the plate as you pick up a juicy slice with your chopsticks? And if you're vegetarian, might you consider the punchy garlic eggplant or the wok-kissed string beans? I could go on. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself, though I'd recommend parallel parking on the neighborhood streets behind the restaurant rather than the rocky parking lot, to save you some trouble. Bring friends and chow down family style - you'll need help covering as much of the menu as you can, but you'll definitely have to come back to try everything.

And their other menu items are fire as well! We went on a Sunday late evening. We had a 9 pm airport pickup at IAH so it was a perfect opportunity to grab a spectacular dinner and make the 30+ minute drive out to IAH totally worth it. Parking lot wasn't too full so that wasn't an issue. While the neighborhood ain't River Oaks luxury, it ain't too scary either. We kept it simple - ordered a whole duck and Bamboo House Special Noodle with Beef. This place ain't cheap but the food is worth every penny. It was very busy that evening so it's not a well-kept secret but also proves that eventually, Houstonians will figure out where the good food is. The duck was near perfect. They serve the duck with the pancakes (as opposed to the buns like at Arco) which is my preference. The soup that comes with it was also extremely flavorful. And the house special noodles with beef - oh my. I swear it's just one really long noodle so you may be frustrated trying to divvy up the family style bowl, but the labor is worth it. So good... Can't wait for my next airport run so I can sneak in a lunch or dinner at this place. So many other menu items I want to try!

I had previously visited the now closed Bamboo House on Westheimer and I remember being impressed by the food. I had to make an airport run and decided that it would be perfect timing to stop by this location. I highly recommend ordering the duck ahead of time, but we were lucky enough to snag one of the last ducks when we arrived around 7 pm on a Sunday evening. The waitress was super friendly and upbeat and the restaurant is older but well maintained. You can see where the food is being prepared/cooked and you can see ducks being cooked/warmed behind a glass window. The duck was absolutely spectacular with the perfect seasoned and tender meat accompanied by well rendered crispy skin. I love how the pancakes are paper thin and pair well with the scrumptious duck and other toppings. They also provide sugar and plum sauce as additional toppings which I thought was interesting but not my cup of tea. The duck soup was extremely flavorful and full bodied and went well with the duck. The noodles were also amazing with likely hand pulled noodles served with an abundance of tender beef and vegetables with a little Sichuan kick. I was intrigued by a strawberry chicken dish that I saw on the menu and I plan to try it the time. My diagnosis: hands down the best Peking duck in the greater Houston area!

The staff were nice and hard working. I was excited when they first opened bc they had chow fun on the menu and being HK Cantonese, I love that dish but when I ordered it the 1st and 2nd time eight years ago instead of bean sprouts they had cabbage and that alters rhe flavor tremendously. Dandan noodles 2/5- This was my first time trying this dish anywhere and I did not really enjoy it at all. The sesame flavor was really strong and it wasn't really salted at all. Very strange flavor. I will not order this again, however I do believe that the execution on this dish is great. There was a lot of sauce and the noodles were cooked well. I just really wish I liked the flavor of this dish and that's a personal problem. This dish also made my mouth numb but the flavor did not make it worth it.
