Took my heavy leather jacket in to have three patches sewn on sleeve, just below the shoulder. Two other places in Fairfield couldn't do it; too difficult. Ling joked about how difficult it was going to be, but it was clear she was up to the challenge. You could see the gears going in this petite Taiwanese dynamo's head on how she was going to get it done. Dropped the jacket off Wednesday afternoon and picked up Friday afternoon. Ling is Fantastic! She is very personable, her prices are reasonable and she has never disappointed me. I no longer live in the area but I will travel all the way to Fairfield to have Ling do my alterations. She's the best! I love Juicy Couture's Velour Tracksuits. Unfortunately I am short and they design their suits for tall women. Other tailors wont touch anything that is made out of velour fearing that they will ruin it. She was able to get the dress done within a few days but because I couldn't come back on a Saturday, I came in the following week. Will definitely come back here for future altering/hemming needs. I hung my new North Face Jacket at a coat rack, left to run an errand. I came home found the hood ripped off where the zipper area was stitched. Basically my dog pull my jacket down and caused my hood to rip apart. I was upset at what happened to my jacket. I heard about this place from yelp, I took it to Lings a couple of days later and showed her the damage on my jacket. Less than 5 minutes she restore it back to new, with some extra reinforcement on the stitching part of the zipper. In fact it looked even better than new. In other words, the jacket looked like nothing ever happened. I paid a small price to have my problems fixed. I didn't expect her to make my jacket look new again, but Ling exceeded my expectations. Wonderful service! My husband's zipper on his wheelchair cushion cover busted and we needed to get it fixed FAST (without the cover, the cushion doesn't work the way it's designed). Awful experience. She wasn't friendly. Didn't even greet me. She refused to help fix a jacket that I was in need of fixing because it was a gift. The fabric I had did have tears in it & she looked at it in disgust. I asked if it can just be sewed together & she replied with "no, it'll be ugly. It's already damaged." Since there was some dried hot glue on the fabric, that ultimately made her turn me away because she said that "when glue dries, it's like a rock. Needles can't go through rocks. So needle breaks." Not friendly, not accommodating. Will NEVER come back. read more

Fantastic! She is so friendly and does her job very well! I had a few pairs of jeans to bring in the waist..what I thought is probably not the easiest job with denim. They fit perfect and you can't even visually tell they were altered. I didn't ask for a specific time to get them back, but she was done in 3 days. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I gave her my daughter's Easter dress for hemming, told her it was an Easter dress and that I'd need it Sunday. They're closed Sunday, she said she'd have it by Saturday. I expected a call (I presume that's why they take your number.) Tried calling a few times close to closing, no one picked up. Now the dress is essentially useless, since there's nothing else for her to wear it for. It also seemed like a ridiculous price for a hemming, since I've had pants done for eight bucks....She was nice, though. read more

I can just give one rate for attitude. I needed scarves for a memorial service and I do not have a machine to sew. I brought 12 scarves already cut to be sewn in a straight line and explained to Ling what it was for. She quoted me $15.00 to sew a piece of scarf and due to be picked up in 2 weeks. Because of the urgency of time that I needed the scarves for, I agreed for $15.00. Next day I realized $15.00 to sew a straight line scarf was overly prized. I went to another Tailor Shop and sure enough she charged me $7.00 for a scarf. I took the rest of the scarves to this next shop. When I went to pick up the Scarves from Ling, I tried to explain that since it was very highly prized if she could just sew a straight line to close the bottom of the scarf to hold napkins or tissues during the memorial. She refused because "it would be additional prize for a new transaction on the same materials. so she was going to add more prize to the $15.00 perhaps up to $18.00 a scarf. This Ling has no Customer Relations but only money. A good business-sense is to preserve relationships and NOT TOTALLY MONEY & VERY UNFRIENDLY. Definitely would NOT recommend to anyone. read more

This lady was very rude! My mother and I brought my prom dress in and it needed to be let out very simple could be let out with a couple panels and instead of just adding panels she wanted to add a corset in the side and only ONE side we were polite and asked if we could just put corsets on both sides so it would look right. Immediately she rose her voice and said, "No, I'm not going to put my name on that!" Then stopped talking to us her husband or whatever chimed in and decided to act as an interpreter and told us that she isn't going to to it and that we can find another shop. So we left and found Kwon's tailors and they brainstormed and found a solution to the problem! All they did is take some fabric from the bottom and beaded the dress again! DONT GO TO LING'S the only reason she has good reviews is because she only does simple projects because she's an amateur and can't handle a challenge .Absolutely disgusted . GO TO KWON'S!! read more

I brought my suit in to get altered for my upcoming wedding. Jacket was good but when I tried on my pants they seemed short. Ling said it was the trending style to be short. She also said to get it pressed and it'll be fine. I got the pants pressed and they still seemed short. My fiancée saw them and lost her mind! She looked at the hem on the pants and said Ling's equipment was horrible. She said had she known it would have been this much of a hassle she would've done it herself. Ling claims to be a professional. If you're a guy and need some alterations, go somewhere where you won't have to take your clothes to get pressed after. I'm definitely not coming back. My slacks were not sewed at the right length , I took them back and was told that they would go to the correct length after each wash...wrong they are too long no matter what I do they drag on the floor right out of the dryer ...they were just measured wrong....won't be back , I don't mind a mistake it's not taking responsibly for it that I mind. read more

I too brought in a prom dress to have the hem corrected. It was longer on one side and it had three layers. Ling was very helpful and explained what she was going to do and why it would take a week. She already knew when our prom was and told us not to worry we would have the dress in time. When I picked it up the following week it was perfect. I would recommend her services to anyone. I had the worst experience with this place. I brought two expensive suits in for alterations. They insisted in being paid before any work would be done. When I returned the following week to claim my altered suits they were not fit to wear , They had been cut wrong and would not fit me. when I complained she said too bad it was the best she could do. She would not return my money and I had to donate the two expensive suits and go and purchase 2 new ones. I strongly recommend not to go to this store. The service was great, but the product was not impressive. I was quoted a price which I thought was fair. When I asked for the product a few days earlier, which would give her 8 days instead of 12, she charged me extra. She was finished 2 hours later. She put extra fabric on a dress to make it bigger, but the dress was shapeless. I took the dress home, pinned it so the dress would look and fit better, but when I asked if she could stitch the sides down, she said I would have to pay more for tailoring. I would think if someone pays good money to have a dress alteration, pinning/tailoring should be part of that. read more

Brides, Steer clear. I recently went to get my wedding dress altered at Ling's. My mother went with me and was suggesting what we wanted done. Ling kept on cutting my mother off and stating that it was not possible the end when i picked up my dress, and Ling did what she wanted to do to the dress making my arm holes to small, my sash was rippling, my bustle had a hug button placed on my behind and my dress was pulled up so high it showed my under slip. We paid nearly 180.00 to have this altered and it was a disaster. We had to get it re done by someone else who did it for a quarter of the price , got it done much faster and the dress turned our beautiful. Ling is nice enough, however if your vision is not her vision do not expect to get what you want. read more

Ling's is probably the only alterations place that pops up with 5 starts on Yelp, and probably one of few alterations places in Fairfield. Will I return? Not after what had happened. She's a friendly, but feisty person. She has ruined two of my dresses. I had her bring in the sides of one dress because it was too wide for my frame. When I got the dress, it looked as if she pressed/ironed my dress to the point where it ruined the fabric and it's extremely noticeable. On my second dress, she shortened the dress to fit my height, but failed to measure all the way around the dress. When I got the dress, it was longer on one side. I asked her to fix it, but she says that she is trying to save me money from getting it re-hemmed. Excuse me?!? Save me MONEY? As a business owner, she should've admitted that she did a sloppy job and should've fixed it after seeing that it was longer on one side. I would not return to her store again. I have since found a new one in the Bay Area closer to my work. read more

I went in because I was told she charges less than most to put on badges. I was told she charged 3$ but I was charged 5$. Which I didn't want to complain about... Maybe she raised the price!? But she asked me if I wanted to wait while she did the stitches. I asked her how long? As my daughter is 20 months old and gets unruly when waiting around. She didn't give me a time just said "okay I'll stitch now". My daughter ended up crying and trying to get away because she wanted to explore and check out the back of the shop and I wouldn't let her. The seamstress then asks me if I'm the only one who cares for my daughter? I wasn't sure where she was going with it but I responded and said for the most part. She asked "so no body else?" I said no thinking maybe she was trying to sympathize with motherhood. But then she just ended with a hmmmm and a judgey look on her face. I don't know what she was trying to imply and I was trying not to get offended or jump to conclusions but it came off very rude! The stitches were fine but I don't think I'll be back. read more
