We were in the area dropping our dog off and it was getting late. We originally planned to eat at a popular spot in Manhattan, but since it was getting late (and I was getting hangry, lol), we decided to look for something nearby. The biggest surprise was the lotus leaf steamed rice, it had so much flavor and went perfectly with the beef. The portion was big too. The soup dumplings were juicy, the siu mai were fresh, and the mango green tea was super refreshing. Service was quick, the staff was friendly, and the place was clean and nicely decorated. After a long drive, we were looking for a hearty meal instead of gas station food. We found Lion Dance on a Saturday afternoon, wasn't too busy, interior was clean and simple with cute decorations. The beef, broccoli and rice in lotus was my favorite. That felt like comfort food! The rice and beef had an incredible flavor from the lotus and was in some special sauce and spices. Sometimes you need a quick bite/drink in the middle of the day and Lion Dance is great spot to do so. I ordered the Rose Garden Bubble tea with crystals and it contained the perfect amount of sweetness and rose flavor. I also ordered the BBQ Pork Bao Buns and Steamed Shrimp/Pork Dumplings. The soy sauce was so unique and had such an umami flavor. It very much complimented the steamed Shrimp/Pork Dumplings which were also savory. The BBQ Pork Buns had a very fluffy layer and a delicious inner core but I wish it was slightly more stuffed. Although I split both meals with another person, they were still so satiating and I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu! Lion Dance also has a decent amount of seating (about 5 tables) if you choose to eat inside and was very clean and an overall cute spot. The staff is also super kind and helpful. Nina was very kind, friendly, open, and receptive in our pleasant conversation where we talked about her journey to opening this restaurant. The atmosphere is very comfortable with the seating being spread out enough so diners can eat comfortably should they choose to. Currently they are running a combo special where for 18 dollars you get a noodle soup plus one of their bubble teas. I opted for the pork and shrimp dumpling spicy noodle soup. Although my initial thought was that it felt a bit expensive, it soon became evident why. The soup base is incredibly delicious and takes a lot of time and good quality ingredients to construct! The noodle had a very pleasant bouncy texture to it and paired perfectly with the meaty dumplings, where they use actual plump shrimp instead of the miniature ones that some places use. I believe if the combo was 14-16 dollars instead, it would've been more ideal, but it's hard to put a price tag on high quality! I also got a bunch of dim sum to go, and perhaps because it was to go, they weren't bad, but they also weren't the best. The chive dumplings were good, but the price once again felt a bit steep for 6 dumplings. I'm looking forward to trying their soup dumplings and pan stickers next time, for the other diner there raved about how good it was! The drinks were quite delicious too and Nina told me they use actual milk products to construct them instead of using milk powder like many other bubble tea places, which makes their drink extra creamy and you can definitely tell the difference! Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend eating at the restaurant, for taking out can detract from its freshness and crispiness depending on what you order! The Tiger Ube milk tea with coconut cream on top was superb!! Never had coconut cream before so this was a first and also a great addition to what was already a lovely milk tea. The tea had a soft and silky feel to it, the coconut was not subtle, but at the same time not overpowering at all. From ordering to prep and finish it was about 5 mins! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome and smile from the woman behind the counter! We quickly placed our order and waited about 15 minutes since we chose the fresh dumplings. The restaurant itself is small but there is seating for approximately 12-15 people and very clean! They don't have a public restroom but they do seem to be more of a grab and go type of spot! This isn't just any bubble tea place that serves random fried bites (although i did have the calamari and its delicious) they serve authentic Cantonese dim-sum and noodle soups that are not super salty but very filling and delicious. I ordered for delivery and the dim sum is pretty good! There are not many places on the island that you can get Cantonese-style dim sum. The food menu isn't going to be expansive like a restaurant, but they have staples like har gow and siu mai. For North Shore Staten Island, this is top notch! I tried their house special boba drink and it was a bit too sweet at 100%, however I think asking for 30% sweet next time will make it perfect. When I walked in the atmosphere was very chill. I used the kiosk to order and I did no tip for the kiosk but did dine in. I don't know if that affected the way I was treated or not but, I received my food in 15-20 minutes. There were people also dining in with me and they received a lot more customer service than me. Like how was the food, how it's going, what they liked. Maybe because I was alone. The music in the place is alright. The food was very good and flavorful, the iced tea is too much ice in my opinion. I had about 7-8 sips, but it is $3! Afterwards when I was leaving I was asked how the food was and the owner I'm guessing recognised I was a new customer. It has a very homey feel to it and it seems like you can really have a connection to the people who own it because they're so kind.
