It's fast food and I had a great quick experience here. They were having a customer appreciation day and had sent a coupon so I went specifically for that. Hubby ended up getting a combo in addition. The roast beef was hot and delicious, the tangy bbq is the BEST, the fries were crispy and delicious. I treated myself to a mini dipped cone and it was an amazing end to my quick meal. Tables were all clean, service was quick and they were prepared with a laminated coupon they were able to scan for the promo. That helped keeping the line moving quickly! The last couple times that I visited this location, the quality of my food continued to go down as the prices continue to go up! I remember spending $18 on a combo with a specialty side and getting an ice cream cone, . The only things that were good were my white cheddar macaroni and my ice cream cone. The soda was flat and the roast beef was cold with a stale bun, not toasted. Today I spent over $16 on one large combo and again the roast beef was cold., poorly seasoned, terrible bun and the cheese which costs extra was thrown on there, not melted. Any person who orders a sandwich or burger with cheese on it wants it melted! I could slap a piece of cheese on it at home. Just now I opened my chili cheese fries that we're supposed to also have onions and sour cream and there is no sour cream. I ordered on the mobile app and when I got there, no one was in front of me and when I pulled up to the drive-through window there were 3 people (that I could see) and they still didn't get my order right This is probably why I forgot I was a rewards member and tried to re-sign up. I guess my $18 meal experience was so bad because I had given up on the Lion for a while until a couple recent trips to the Ballwin location were great ! I think I'm at an all around basic for this restaurant. It reminded me of Arbys water down to basics. Flying in late and was hungry, so stopped by what seemed to catch my attention at the Ian's was close to the hotel. I received my meal in more than a reasonable drive thru time., once I was ready to eat, I noticed I was not given any napkins in my bag. Since I didn't grow up in St. Louis I had no idea what Lion's Choice was when I moved into the area. I was familiar with Arby's though and it became clear pretty immediately that Lion's Choice is in that vein. I've only gone to Lion's Choice a couple times and I will admit that it is almost never for the roast beef. Instead our family goes for the mini cones. Man, what a treat. For 0.50 to 0.75 you can get a mini cone plain or dipped in chocolate. It is a perfect when you need a treat. My son loves it. I really love the Roast Beef at Lion's Choice. The flavor isn't just the meat but the seasoning they use on it as well as adding the Horsey sauce and BBQ sauce. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The employees are super friendly and they love hearing that we have driven all the way from Central Florida just to eat there. However, the fries were VERY undercooked and the so called large roast beef had less meat than my wife's regular size sandwich. We've never had these issues before so we were surprised. I've never ever had a problem with Lions choice but tonight when I got home I opened my sandwich and it was extra extra rare. It wasn't even warm and it looked as red as a flaming hot Cheeto lol. This Review is to the District Manager : We have been going to this restaurant for many years and over that time we keep noticing this one employee by the name of Jerry, he is always there at lunch time, at the Sunset Hills restaurant. This guy is the most hard working person around, he never stops. If the crowd slows down he will find something to do, maybe clean tables or the floor, maybe go around and pick up the trash when the customer is finished with their meal. He is so friendly with all the customers, you would think he owns the place the way he is with his work and customers. If you own a restaurant and want a hard working guy you need to stop in here one day watch him working and steal him away. This location seems to always be busy. It's also quick, fresh, and clean. The employees all seem happy to be there and know what they're doing. The parking lot is a bit weird to navigate. I just wish it wasn't so freakin' expensive! My son and I each had a large combo (large roast beef, large fries, large drink) and it cost just over $20, for lunch. Great roast beef sandwiches! Moving to California I unfortunately discovered no equivalent. Arby's, with its processed, pressed beef, is a sad substitute. I definitely appreciate how Lion's Choice beef melts in your mouth when soaked with au jus. Their fries are crispy and extra flavorful when dipped in the BBQ sauce. Their menu selection have grown over the years to include more than beef sandwiches. You can special order; with or without seasoning or have my preference of rare meat. Children are popular visitors since many desserts are offered including twenty-nice cent chocolate dipped ice cream cones. (even less without the chocolate). Oh Lion's Choice, how I've missed thee! A few years ago, I moved away from St. Louis. Now that I'm moving back, I have realized that LC is one of the foods I missed the most while I lived elsewhere (along with White Castle and provel cheese). Unfortunately this used to be a great place. It was our go to restaurant for Friday nights after a long week. This past Friday we had very slow service, fountain sodas that were low on syrup or completely out, cold fries and the Chipotle ranch that they put in the to go cups were only filled a quarter of the way. Headed here with my family after spending the morning at the Magic House. Since we were planning to have a big dinner, we just wanted a quick bite. I just had a turkey sandwich, my husband had ham and my son had grilled cheese. Needless to say, everyone was happy! I loved the number of options attached to the kids meal, including the tiny custard cone (a nice surprise for our son!) Walked into lions choice in sunset hills today at 11:15 (1/12/19) to a foul smell almost like raw sewage. Got my food sat down to eat and noticed a gentleman sitting/sleeping in the corner. The closer I got the the gentleman the worse the smell was. The gentleman seemed to be unclean and probably trying to stay warm however while sitting at the opposite end of the lions Choice the smell was overwhelming and caused me to throw my food away and leave. I will never go back inside this restaurant as long as they do not take the welfare of other customers first and foremost over those who seem to come into the restaurant to stay warm all day long. read more
