Wanting to try out a local coffee shop in Greenville led me to Liquid Highway. They have 2 locations in the Greenville area. I wasn't expecting a small kiosk-like set up with a drive thru, but service was quick and efficient. There is no interior space to sit, but there are a few picnic tables adjacent to the shop. The mocha that I ordered was decent, but nothing out of the ordinary, and a little bit more expensive than going to Starbucks (wound up being over $7). Overall, Liquid Highway was a pretty average coffee experience for me. read more

I absolutely cannot drive by Liquid Highway without stopping for my favorite Mocha Freeze. If you haven't had one, what are you waiting for!? I am almost always sipping on a piping hot coffee or latte, even when it's summer in the south. However, my only exception is this icy, smooth, chocolate-y drink! If you have a palette for beautifully made espresso, and an appreciation for supporting a local coffee shop, this is the place. I am a coffee/espresso 'snob'. No shame in admitting it. Trust me, it's miles better than 'the place w/ the green sign', and even better than the other 4-5 local cafés I've been to in the downtown area. It pains me to write this review because I love supporting local businesses, but I wish someone else had and I had read it before going and wasting money there-my latte with oat milk was burned to the point that I couldn't drink it. We were on a long drive and I didn't try it until we had pulled away, or I would have let the barista know. We had to throw it away. I recommend trying this business but taking a sip before driving away so that you can make sure your beverage is done right, and so they can improve. I loved seeing a local business so close to a large chain and was glad to give them my money to support local-but I want to be able to enjoy the outcome, darn it! read more

Listen up y'all. When you want your coffee, you don't want to wait in no 2 mile line at Starbucks during rush hour. Liquid Highway is a local gem that's been around for years, and their line always has their loyal customers and it's rarely backed up when I get there. I decided to try the Liberty Bridge made with 2 chocolates and raspberry. I did mine sugar free version with coconut milk. Boom. We had gotten the frozen Main St Traffic Stop and the frozen Reedy River Slide and they were both delicious! Not overly sweet like Starbucks and can still taste the coffee. I can't believe I didn't try them out sooner. read more

Coffee is good, the alternative to Sbux is always nice, but they need a better seasonal menu or creative drink suggestions. Their menu is in all fairness completely open-ended but not everyone knows how to build something complex or fun like what they might get elsewhere. And a regular rotation of suggestions would help with a novelty-based uptick in traffic. Also better/more food offerings wouldn't hurt. I'm not aware if they have a loyalty program but if not, that would be nice. read more

My advice to the owner of Liquid Highway, is to your servers to barista school. If you are paying $5 for a cup of coffee, it should be prepared by a trained barista. I ordered a cappuccino and it was loaded with burnt milk. The next day I talked to the servers and they acted unaffected. Two different selections; still the same. They don't know how to steam milk and create cremma. If you are wanting a soda-fountain whip-creamy drink this may be the place. I work in the (very competitive) coffee industry. Quality and customer satisfaction is important. In the meantime, Quick-trip med-roast house blend will have to suffice. read more

This is my quick go to for coffee before work, although I wish the order could be placed prior to getting to the window which I think would cut down on wait time I'm always greeted with a friendly face and kindness in the morning. The lattes are my favorite both hot and iced, I tried a specialty drink the Paris Mountain before and just wasn't wow-ed enough to make that my regular order. Liquid Highway is hands down one of my absolute favorite local coffee shops in Greenville, and especially my favorite coffee shop in Taylors. I usually go to their miniature drive through stores and have found that everything I've ordered there is high quality. Every coffee-drink I've had there, I enjoyed immensely! The other Liquid Highways are equally incredible, but this is the one that I stop at the most for convenience's sake. Every single employee I have met is very personable, friendly, and professional! (They drew a cream-leaf in my coffee drink. For fun. They drew it for fun). There was even one instance where, when I saw they had Peter Pan Peanutbutter in their kitchen, they offered to put some of it in my frozen mocha coffeedrink, and it was delicious. Also, there was one time where I wanted to try one of their coffee-drinks, but without the raspberry flavoring in the drink. Expecting the barista to fall into an utterly confused and disoriented existential meltdown that some McDonald's employees experience when I ask for a Hamburger without cheese, I asked hesitantly: "can you do customized orders?" The barista said yes and, after hearing how barebones minimal my "custom order" was, I realized (through conversation while they made my frozen mocha), that they were used to (and expecting) a much more complicated custom order. In short, a very competent staff that are great conversationalists while they make your drink; a very important fact since the Liquid Highway I usually stop at is a drive through, meaning that they can serve only one customer at a time, so you actually can talk to the barista (usually just one barista on duty at a time in their Checker's-style, drive through-only stores) while you wait on them to make your drink. The prices are pretty good, too, especially considering what you get for your money. Is the service fast? Not really. Do you pull out of the drive-thru feeling happier than when you pulled in? Decided to try this local place instead of getting the usual Starbucks one day. Honestly, it was just okay. I got a Butter Pecan Marshmallow Mocha and I wasn't really impressed. When I visited the Starbucks next door to Liquid Highway, I always saw the banner that said jump he fence for better coffee. At first I was kind of skeptical because I had grown accustomed to Starbucks. However, after a few friends recommended it to me and then I found out about the happy hour I finally tried Liquid Highway. I got a large Main St. Topper and I was not disappointed. I got it for about $3 during the happy hour. When I say it's a large it's about twice as big as Starbucks venti size and you don't get the slush you do with Starbucks when you get toward the end of the drink. I will definitely be visiting liquid highway again. read more

I will always choose any alternative to Starbucks, and locally owned is even better. Been going here for over 2 years whenever I'm in Greenville and the last 3-4 times have been a disappointment, sadly. I'm writing a review in hopes that the owners will remedy the deficiencies so I can come back and get a decent coffee drink. So my complaint the last few visits is twofold: 1. the "on the rocks" drinks NEVER have enough ice. You end up with a tall coffee drink and about 5 ice cubes floating in it which never makes it cold enough. Always been a problem. 2. the espresso in their drinks is really weak. read more

I love this place. I only get pre-ground bagged coffee, so I cannot comment on the drinks themselves. For bagged coffee, price is good, taste is very good, grind is just what I ask for, and the staff are very pleasant. I like supporting a local business too. Went to the one off roper, first time. What a waste of $5. I got an iced mocha, and there's no one behind me. I watched her use old shots to make my drink (I gave the benefit of the doubt they were from the car in front of me but no they tasted bad too) and then the lid doesn't snap fully onto the lip of the cup, so as I tilt the cup to sip from the straw, it dumps cold coffee down my chest. Luckily wearing black but had I been wearing anything else, going back to work would have been impossible. Never again. For $5 a pop use fresh shots and invest in some decent cups. read more

Had the greatest experience at the drive thru of this coffee shop! Got a rather big iced coffee with shot of espresso and sugar free vanilla syrup for me and a diet coke for my son all for $4!! The guy behind the counter proceeded to give my dog a doggy biscuit! I wish I knew his name, and I should've asked, but he was so friendly! This is a great place to stop! It's always nice to have an alternative to Starbucks, but bear in mind this isn't really a serious coffee place of Methodical (or even Starbucks) quality. They have all the usual espresso drinks and do them well enough but focus on sweet shake-like coffee drinks loaded with flavored syrups. Not that there's anything wrong with that - they're quite tasty, as are their smoothies and baked goods. Plus the baristas have great energy, way more than you'd expect from a tiny drive-through shack on the highway. To be honest, this place isn't really my cup of (sweet, syrup-blended) tea, but it's got an independent enough spirit that I'll always choose it over the big green mermaid. read more

I've been going to Liquid Highway since I was in elementary school (for the hot chocolate, now I upgraded to coffee.) I wouldn't go to any other place to have an awesome cup of coffee on the go. I can't count how many times they have given me free coffee just for being a repeating customer. A huge plus is that the staff is always friendly, talkative, and knows exactly what they're doing.
