I had just sold my old car at CarMax located down the road and my dad requested that we stop by Total Wine & More before I took him home. I decided to go inside with him because I was curious what they had here. He had his eye on a specific type of white wine and thanks to someone here that helped him out, he ended up clearing out all of its' inventory, buying at least six bottles of this specific brand. It was a Riesling white wine but I don't remember the full name of it. He and my mom now have plenty of wine to go through over the next couple of months lol. Here, I thought to myself, I should buy myself a bottle of wine as well. At my dad's suggestion and since I'm a big fan of Chardonnay and other types of white wine, I picked up a Nobilis white wine straight out of Portugal. When I traveled to Europe a couple of years ago, I did a lot of white wine tastings and this is pretty much how my white wine palate peaked. I've yet to visit Portugal, though. I haven't opened this bottle yet, but I already know that I'll like it. Although I don't really frequent Total Wine & More, they have a wide variety of wine and alcohol choices to choose from.

At checkout, the employee couldn't figure out how the gift bag opened and was struggling with it. When my girlfriend was placing the bottle into the bag, the bottle suddenly fell through and shattered all over the floor. What bothered me most was how the situation was handled afterward. I personally picked up broken glass from the floor while staff stood by and did nothing to assist. No manager was called over. No apology was offered. No effort was made to make the situation right. Despite the accident occurring immediately after the employee had been handling and even damaging the gift bag, I ended up purchasing another bottle for approximately $90 out of pocket. There was no discount, no replacement, no gesture of goodwill, and not even a sincere "we're sorry." Accidents happen, and I understand that. What customers remember is how a business responds when they do. Unfortunately, the lack of customer service, accountability, and basic courtesy left a very negative impression. While shopping around I ran into another employee who I had small talk with then I had asked him to use the bathroom. He had to go back to that area with me due to their policy & when I walked in I saw no toilet paper. He actually went into the bathroom & grabbed a roll that was in there & put it on the dispenser. They carry my drink of choice, Redd's (which is more than I can say for MANY other places) and even when it's been temporarily out due to vendor shortages -- not on them -- the service is still top-tier. Checkout is always smooth, the vibes are great, and I consistently leave happier than when I walked in, which feels like a very underrated skill.
