The bakery also has thumbprints, russian tea cakes, and gluten free options!!!! Definitely a favorite to stop by for a one bite snack or indulge in my monthly allowance of cupcake. The added treat is, its a stone's throw from the Mystic Drawbridge, so its the perfect layover for a stroll through town. Super cute bake shop in Mystic. It's a little pricey for the size of the pastries but it's absolutely delicious. Seating is scarce but it doesn't seem like many people come to stick around. The inside is cramped but all that means is that you're smelling all the wonderful pastries and it's hard for you to pinpoint what you want to buy. It's a little hidden but has a nice seating area outside and is hidden away from the more main streets in Mystic. read more

This has been our most favorite bakery for years - every birthday, holiday - disappointed for the first time today. Called early in the morning to reserve pastries for pick up later (have done this many times in past). Arrived to learn that the counter person decided not to reserve all of them because she thought they would have enough on-hand. Which they did not. No offer to rectify it, nor did she seem to care. That's the worst part. After choosing substitutions, I got home to find the size of the cinnamon rolls has decreased by about 50%. It's hard to split a 3-bite pastry between 2 people. This has happened with other pastries as well. So disappointed for so many reasons. And the price has not changed in relation to the size of these products. You'll find Li's Bake Shop tucked into a corner directly across from the Engine Room and right next door to Hana Floral. Locals flock for lemon blueberry crumble bars, peanut butter cheesecake, Li's famous whoopie pies, cupcakes, and lots of other freshly baked treats. I have a two pronged review. I love, love, love their Pistachio cupcakes, and the staff are nice as can be most of the time. Epic Fail on the wedding cake front though. The cake actually ended up looking good after a few false starts over decorating problems. But the biggest problem was they handed us a two tiered cake, no box! "here's your cake" Really? Uh no, very bad form! Cake did not make it safely to it's destination got bride off to a very bad start. Stick to what you know, people. read more

I stopped there this morning as I am working in Mystic and trying out some new places. Baked goods are excellent. Tried a blueberry/almond cobbler and a quiche. Both were worthy of 5 stars. Nice to go a place that's not on main st. Everyone was friendly and pleasant,and that's a breath of fresh air to walk into a place and be treated like you are welcome. Get your coffee (really good too-from Mystic Coffee Roasters) and bakery and greet the morning sitting on the dock and swinging your legs over the water :). I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a scone, and the breakfast sandwich came with a flat bagel and the egg was like the egg substitute that fast food restaurants like Dunkin uses. The scone did not have the correct texture. If you want a real bakery, go to Sift. read more

The 5-star ratings for this place are no joke. Stopped by on a Friday afternoon and had a 'dark chocolate' cupcake with vanilla frosting. I was expecting an overly dense cupcake, but what I got was a moist, balanced, not-too-sweet cupcake. One word: delicious They had a bunch of other tasty looking deserts, but unfortunately I didn't try any of them. I wouldn't recommend this place for a group as there is very limited seating inside. I have been in here a few times and never have left disappointed. Nothing can compare. These are traditionally made pastries with the best flaky crust. In addition the cupcakes are sweet but not overly sweet. My favorite thing to order are the bagels. They are the perfect platform for their breakfast sandwiches. Yum! Starbucks was out of breakfast sandwiches so my family and I had to go off the beaten path for our morning meal. We first popped into Mystic Market but left because the breakfast fare seemed limited. I read about Li's pastrami breakfast sandwich and decided to give it a try. So glad! The pastrami breakfast sandwich on jalapeno bagel was outstanding. But I think the chorizo on bagel was my favorite. Try the Mexican brownie infused with espresso and cinnamon. My son was also impressed with the lemon squares. Other than clams at Sea Swirl, this breakfast was the best food we had in Mystic. The ladies working there was also very nice! read more

They even came out and took a picture of my puppy while we were waiting for our (amazing as always) breakfast sandwiches. When we decided to take a quick Mystic vacation, this place was number one on my list of places to visit, and it did not disappoint at all. Located right on the water, it was an adorable place to stop for a hot coffee and some pastries on our last morning in town. Everything we had was delicious. The coffee was great, but the cinnamon rolls and lemon blueberry cupcakes were outrageous. Definitely one of the best cupcakes i've ever had, and I wish i'd brought home abou a dozen cinnamon rolls. The place was itty bitty, but very quaint, and the owner and all of the employees were very friendly. In the time that we were there it seemed that every person that came in was a regular and had a great relationship with the staff. A really nice, family place. "Though she be little, she is fierce!" This bake shop is small but the food is goooooood. Sift may have more notoriety but it is expensive and very high end. Some of the items I got there were "meh" for the price. However, at Lis' bake shop, everything is so good! I've gotten a few cupcakes (deep dark chocolate and tangerine) and both were amazing. Just spent MDW in Mystic and my girlfriend and i fell in love with Lis Bake Shop! We walked into the cozy little shop just to check it out and everything looked so delicious we had to sample a few treats. Pumpkin coffee cake, sticky buns, LEMON BARS -- all delicious! We even stopped in again before our drive home to pick up more lemon bars, but couldn't stop there. We also tried the homemade devil dogs and an "orange brownie" -- mysterious, but utterly amazing. Adorable shop right near the drawbridge in Mystic. Very quaint, welcoming and the aromas are very intoxicating! When I entered the shop I was warmly welcomed by three sweet ladies! I wanted to bring some treats to a friend as a hostess gift, so I asked what to get. They were very quick to point out some of their favorites...lemon bars (unbelievable), homemade devil dogs, pistachio cupcakes, peanut butter cheesecake cupcake with chocolate ganache...scones, all tied up neatly in a box with a ribbon. I went to this bakery specifically looking to get some cannoli. Unfortunately, they didn't have any the day I went and was told they do not make them often. Instead, I purchased 4 cupcakes: lemon blueberry, red velvet, vanilla confetti and Devils food with peanut butter frosting, as well as a raspberry almond bar (which was gluten free). The icing on the lemon blueberry was so good. So. Good. Like I love diabetes good. However, the cupcake itself had an odd consistency as it was dense and a little spongy. The other 3 cupcakes did not suffer the same fate as they were perfectly moist and well textured, and none were too sweet like some cupcakes tend to be. The lemon blueberry and confetti didn't skimp on ingredients as they were packed with blueberries and confetti, respectively. The raspberry almond bar was delicious, great balance of raspberry and almond flavors and just enough crunch from the slivered almonds on top. The texture would likely have been better if not made gluten free but it tastes just as good slightly crumbly as it would if it were firmer. This would be a 5 star if they had cannoli so maybe next time as I see myself returning in the future. read more

Mystic is always an easy on/easy off place so I came to YELP to get recommendations and found this little place. I am SO glad we stopped and we will be coming back.
