My children (14, 12, and 9) and I enjoyed a terrific experience with Lisa. She is with the client every step of the way, from determining preferences for backgrounds, checking out locations, and having options for scheduling. On photo shoot day, my three kids felt relaxed and enjoyed the process. They got to know Lisa 1:1 when she was doing their individual "school portrait" photos, and we had many opportunities to take family photos. After every shot (or almost every shot), Lisa would show us the preview of the photo in her camera. I highly recommend Portola Valley Town Center, which provides so many backdrops to create memorable photos. My follow-up appointment with Lisa was also very fun and client-centered, the the point I felt bad for getting so much attention. She was very dedicated to sharing her favorites and guiding the process. We had a special request for a B&W photo shoot of our 14-month-old to match a composite of images of me at the same age. Lisa did a fabulous job making our toddler comfortable and happy, and managed to get him to match the poses and expressions we wanted incredibly well. Lisa's photo editor was even able to make a draft of the composite image, which was above and beyond what I was expecting (I was prepared to do that part myself). I was picky about stuff like contrast and cropping and they were very accommodating, ultimately providing a Photoshop document for me to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Lisa again. I will add that they routinely airbrush images (which I guess most customers want), but if you want a more natural look be sure to tell them in advance to save them some editing time! read more

We recently set up a photo session with Lisa for both family photo's as well as a couple of corporate head shots. We have had a few photo sessions in the past with other companies and was never really pleased with our photo's. The shots always looked canned and unnatural... needless to say, I was dreading our photo session. Lisa was so relaxing and comfortable to work with. We had Lisa take photos of our staff to use for our website. She made everyone feel very comfortable and relaxed and took some great photos of our group both individually and of the team. Terrible. Complete waste of time and money. Did a family shoot with her a while back and it was such a disappointment. Wasn't a huge fan after seeing her portfolio but thought she was decent and she was available on a short notice so thought we'd give it a shot (we only needed a few good shots anyway). I could have stomached the ridiculously overpriced prints if they were actually worth having, but ALL the photos were bad! From lighting, to cropping, to angles and poses that she chose, everything was TERRIBLE! And absolutely no originality in poses, locations, etc. (if you look at all her photos, she has the exact same photos of different families time and time again). On top of it, she tries to control every part of the process from ordering to printing (you can't even view your photos until you schedule an order date with her) and is a huge hassle to deal with. After all the time and money we put into this, we ended up with one photo that was mediocre at best, and even that she cropped completely off center so it's not even usable in a standard frame. I take better photos all day long on my camera. I'm sure if it wasn't for DayOne next door she would have been out of business years ago. Didn't realize just how bad she was (thought maybe I was being unreasonable picky) until we got a different photographer much later and it was a completely different story. At the end of the day, I can maybe see how older people with no access to a good camera or editing software and who have nothing better to do with their time/money might think she is ok. But for everyone else, STAY AWAY! read more

Lisa was amazing! Both kids came into town for the first time in years and I decided to try and get a family portrait taken and some holiday cards...I knew it was probably hopeless, but I contacted Lisa and she kindly managed to squeeze in a shoot and hustle to get our holiday cards in to the printer. In spite of it being freezing cold, overcast, and intermittent rain, she took amazing photos of all 4 of us and our less than cooperative 15 year-old dog.
