Crabcakes Benedict
Beth W.

5 Lisa's Cafe - A Flavorful Beachside Brunch Worth the Splurge! We stopped by Lisa's for brunch, and WOW--every bite was packed with flavor and heart. Yes, it's a bit on the pricier side, but you're paying for top-notch food and genuinely great service right by the beach--totally worth it in my book. Let's talk food: I ordered the Crabcake Benedict (went with the Irish option--served with Lisa's homemade hash), and it was phenomenal. The hollandaise was silky, rich, and seasoned perfectly. The hash had just the right amount of crisp and spice, making it a hearty and satisfying pairing. The only minor letdown? The crabcakes themselves were a bit small for the price, but the flavor made up for it in a big way. We also tried the Biscuits & Sausage Gravy--hello, comfort food heaven. The gravy was creamy with a lovely peppery kick, clearly made with fresh sage, just like the menu promised. And the home fries? Golden, crispy, and beautifully seasoned, with a nice mix of bell peppers tossed in for flavor and color. Even the pineapple garnish was fresh and juicy--a nice tropical touch! The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing. You could tell the staff genuinely cared about the guest experience. Plus, the lace tablecloths and outdoor setup made the whole experience feel cozy and charming. If you're brunching near the beach and want something homemade, flavorful, and memorable--Lisa's is the spot. Just be ready to spend a little extra for that beachside magic!

Adding pics from our second visit. Had to try the eggs Benedict- very good. Service very good too. Really enjoyed both visits this week. Want to try the biscuits and gravy next time!!

Lisa's is the cutest, most delicious brunch place ever! She makes everything from scratch - no mixes or fillers! She grows her own herbs and everything is fresh and beautifully prepared. Servers and Lisa are personable, accommodating and friendly. You'll always see a crowd, but Lisa manages to find you a spot!!

I came here by recommendation of a friend while visiting the area for a few days. I ordered myself an uber from Bilmar on my first morning for breakfast right at 9:00am, I wasn't even sure if they were officially open when I poked my head inside, confirming with the hostess that they were open and she got me set up with a table. The hostess, also my server was pleasant with a bubbly upbeat personality. As a first timer, I attentively listened as she provided an overview of the restaurant and menu. I was surprised by the cinder block walls being painted black, but they had family photos hanging and the tables/chairs were not flashy. The overall atmosphere I would describe as casual. Starting off my vacation, I knew I wanted to treat myself with an alcoholic beverage and decided on the mango bellini, which was pretty good, my meal however was pure perfection!!! I ordered the Irish Benedict and it was out of this world!!! English muffin, corned beef hash, eggs, smothered in hollandes sauce-OMG!!! This meal was exceptional. It was so hard for me not to give 5 stars and the only reason I didn't was because I thought things were a bit overpriced. My food alone was $24 and frankly I think that is waaaaayyyyyy too much. Thank you for a wonderful meal and service, if it was a bit more reasonable priced I would have made a second visit while on my 5 day vacation in the area! Thank you for a memorable meal!

Biscuits and Gravy

Our meal at Lisa's in Madeira Beach was a real standout! Lisa herself was a gem, and the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and was packed with mouthwatering flavor. The Eggs Benedict with Crab Cakes was a decadent treat, and the Biscuits and Gravy, especially paired with their unforgettable Corned Beef Hash, was equally satisfying. Seriously, that Corned Beef Hash was so good I had to order a second helping! The Crab Cakes were also top-notch. The only slight snag in an otherwise perfect meal was the unexpected $5 charge for a side of hollandaise sauce I requested because the cooks wouldn't put it on the food for me. Overall, Lisa's is a fantastic spot in Madeira Beach for incredibly fresh and delicious breakfast, and the friendly service (especially from Lisa!) truly adds to the charm. So...I guess never posted this a year ago Well. Another year, another great experience at Lisa's! Just like our visit, the food was absolutely fantastic - bursting with freshness and flavor. While the prices are a bit higher than I'd prefer, it's clear that you're paying for top-quality, fresh ingredients, and in this case, it's definitely worth the splurge. Our server was also great, providing incredibly friendly and attentive service.

We arrived earlier than our hotel allowed for check in and we desperately needed some food after an early flight. As we drove down the beach, we noticed Lisa's and stopped in. My daughter had opted to catch some zzz's in the car while me and a friend went in to eat. Everything looked good. The menu stated nothing could be modified. As someone with allergies, this always makes me nervous but I was able to find a dish (eggs any way you want). It was good paired with a lemonade basil vodka. A neighboring table convinced us to try. My friend had the biscuits and gravy and really enjoyed it. You can't get to go orders (was hoping for my daughter) but you can order a meal that they will box up for you. Felt it was slightly strange especially since I was eating in, but ok. It all worked out. The reason for 3 stars is because the service was really poor. I noticed this isn't abnormal which is such a shame. When I return, I'll probably opt for other choices in the area that provide better service.

They had a fresh catch of grouper that day, so we decided to try the grouper nuggets. They're market price, but absolutely worth it. Even our friend preferred them over his fried fish. The batter was light, crispy, and delicious. Our kids ordered the bacon cheese fries and loved them. Just a heads-up: they use a nacho cheese sauce rather than shredded cheese, which some people may prefer to know ahead of time. Our friend from Massachusetts ordered the lobster sub (also market price) and said it was worth every penny. My husband and I split the grouper nuggets and the Philly cheesesteak. The bread is brought in from up north, and our server's recommendation did not disappoint. The sandwich was rich, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the onion rings. They use a beer batter, which wasn't our favorite, but that's more of a personal preference than a criticism. Overall, we'd definitely return if we're in the area again. The only downside was parking--$29.99 for two hours is pretty brutal. Thankfully, the food and atmosphere helped make up for it.

Third, I asked a server if it was "seat yourself". She rudely replied that she was a server, there were people waiting, and I had to wait outside until they called me. Well excuse the hell out of me for not knowing how y'all do things. I am a forgiving person. I can forgive a lot of things. But I absolutely will not forgive or tolerate rude behavior from anyone. The story has a happy ending though. I found a better place. Free parking. Mostly locals. And a very friendly bartender. Excellent grouper sandwich too. Dockside Dave's. Alls well that ends well!

The restaurant is located behind the German club on 66th Street, a second business in the German club parking lot! Apparently, the family that has his place is from Maine and they got a lot of success brewing beer. That's success led them to start the restaurant serving seafood from a family business in Maine. We started off with a bowl of New England clam chowder and a dozen oysters. To what are whistles we got a glass of their tap Chardonnay and a beer. My wife's Chardonnay was ridiculously good! But nothing could beat those oysters - sweet with a little bit of brine, and very fresh. For dinner we got a lobster roll - they come hot or cold, with the hot coming with melted butter. We also got the fried haddock roll.... Wow! Both were fantastic! I know we overdid it with dinner.... We even got an order of the whole belly clams. I didn't think anyone in Florida served those down here! Absolutely ridiculous . In short, we had fantastic dinner and terrific beverages. I really recommend you at least try to find the place - we almost didn't go in because of its awkward location and the fact that no cars were outside. We saw the place was open and decided to have a appetizer because the Yelp review was so strong, and I'm glad we did! So nice we had to visit TWICE…read more The coconut crusted mahi mahi was a highlight. It was soft and fully coated with obviously real coconut - not sugared or overly sweet. It was a huge fillet, which makes up for having some smaller sides. I'll let you in on a little secret, I only eat fish when it's locally caught and fresh and this was worth it 100%. The house salad with Pima colada dressing has me imagining how to make this dressing at home. Sweet and creamy and easily coating every leaf. The bread at the start of the meal for a disproportionate amount of attention from my family. It was served hot, with garlic and maybe other seasonings across the top, and generous sides of butter. Our initial server, Kyle, kept the bread flowing for us until the meal came and it was fantastic. We gave the potato skins a try, and they were delicious! My family ironically isn't huge conch / shelled fish eaters so the rest of the appetizers didn't suit us much and this was a lil Midwest taste while on vacation. We returned to try the jalapeño crusted grouper and were again very satisfied. Totally different than the coconut mahi, it's savory and well flavored but leaves you far from begging for water. The fish is thick and flaky and the sauce was similar to a bang bang sauce to pair it all together. The favorite sides were loaded baked potato and garlic smashed potatoes! From the outside, it doesn't immediately stand out. But once you make your way around back, the setting opens up to a waterfront view along the intracoastal that completely changes the experience. Sunset is the time to be here. Between the colors over the water and the occasional dolphin or manatee sighting, it's a setting that feels far more special than the location suggests. There's usually plenty of parking, though the entrance can be easy to miss if you're not paying attention. Look for the break in the divider when coming off the main road, otherwise you might drive right past it. The atmosphere leans lively but relaxed. They typically have live music in the evenings, which adds just the right amount of energy without overwhelming the space. Seating is flexible with both indoor and outdoor options, though on especially hot days, you'll want to be mindful of where you sit. The Florida sun can be intense, so a shaded table with a fan makes a big difference. Drinks are worth exploring here, especially since they tend to rotate specials. It's always a good idea to ask what's currently featured. The menu is rooted in New Orleans-style Creole cooking, and it shows. There's a wide range of seafood-heavy options, from po'boys and shrimp or scallop pastas to fried baskets, chowder, and fish and chips. The dirty rice and beignets round things out nicely if you're looking to branch beyond seafood. Prices run slightly above average, but the quality backs it up. Portions are solid, flavors are on point, and the overall experience makes it feel worth it. This is the kind of place locals keep in their rotation and bring visitors to when they want to show off something a little different. This is the kind of place that feels like it's been around forever, in the best way. Spacious for the area, lively without being chaotic, and backed by attentive service that keeps things moving even when it's busy. The menu is extensive, and then just when you think you've seen it all, there's a specials board tucked away with even more to choose from. If you can time your visit right, Tuesday is the move. They run a buy one pound, get one pound half off deal on snow crab legs, and it's easily one of the best values around. The snow crab legs are fresh and satisfying, and the Dungeness crab holds its own as well. Both pair perfectly with their rich, drawn butter, simple but done right. Portion sizes here are no joke. The shrimp skewers are almost excessive in the best way. Three skewers loaded with roughly eight shrimp each, so you're looking at around two dozen shrimp total, all a solid medium-large size. It's the kind of dish that makes you pause when it hits the table. The shrimp pasta is another standout and clearly a house favorite. It's packed with flavor and easily one of the more memorable dishes on the menu. Good enough that ordering a second one to-go actually makes sense. The clam chowder, though, was the one miss. While it's loaded with plenty of clam meat and has a hearty base, there's a slightly smoky flavor that throws it off. If you're a chowder fan, it might not hit the mark. Probably something to skip next time. As for the crab cakes, they passed a pretty tough test. A Maryland native at the table gave them a strong approval, which says a lot. Pro tip: Get there early, ideally around lunch, if you want to lock in that snow crab deal. It's popular, and you don't want to risk missing out. Overall, this is a reliable, crowd-pleasing seafood spot that leans into big portions, solid execution, and a relaxed coastal vibe.
