Two different experiences, one a 5 star, one a 3, leads me to average the experience to a 4. The 5 star experience was going for breakfast around 10:45 on a Friday. The waitress was extremely nice while not being too annoyingly chatty. On a 'I'm on vacation' whim, I ordered the biscuits and gravy. Which. Were. Phenomenal. Best gravy I've ever had, with big chunks of sausage in it. YUM. High on this experience, I took my parents back there the same night for dinner. The menu looked yummy, though my amazing $7-10 breakfast prices had been replaced with $24-32 prices I'm used to seeing in Manhattan took me aback here. Everything was very good, but not outstanding, our waiter was kind of gruff (turns out it's the owners son so no surprise there) and Lisa herself came out to say hi, which is usually great, but we felt a little bullied into saying we liked everything since she was kinda pushy. The homemade hash is the best I've ever had and Lisa may be from the north but her biscuit and gravy can rival some of the best from the south. Not to mention she is the sweetest! You will feel right at home. read more

Fresh, fresh, fresh food! Best breakfast I have ever had. We had the chicken and waffles, eggs, toast and grits and bacon and french toast. All of our plates were clean. The flavors of the food were ok and the waitress was fantastic. But we went here for surf and turf because this is supposed to be a steak and seafood restaurant. They did not have lobster or shrimp the owner then said it is because she gets her lobster in Honduras and they have a problem with their lobster now........um ok we are in Florida you can get lobster anywhere so it a bunch of crap watch out for this place she must be going out of business and she uses that as an excuse because she doesn't want to spend money on lobster and have it go bad because no one comes in. Also my filet was completely grey which means it's old and my friends steak was perfect. I will never go back such a shame read more

I love coming here, the food is always great. I've been here for brunch and for dinner. Pork chops are one of my favs as is the grouper oscar. For brunch anything on the menu-hash, eggs Benedict, southern Benedict, biscuits and gravy. All very good choices. The service is occasionally a little off, but the food is def 5 stars! read more

We visited Lisa's Cafe for breakfast. We were greeted by Lisa and she told us about the specials. We all ordered coffee. It was hot and fresh and served in a great sized mug. Our waitress was quite busy but she was attentive and friendly. The food was awesome! I ordered a vegetable omelette...delicious! It was served with a side of cheese grits....great creamy consistency but a little too salty fir my taste. It also came with rye toast. Plenty of delicious food and a great start to our day. I would definitely recommend Lisa's Cafe. Next time I want to try a Bloody Mary. read more

We seated ourselves outside as you need reservations for in doors. So plan ahead as otherwise you will eat car fumes and talk loudly over the traffic. There were 4 of us ..Two adults and two teenagers. We were addressed by a waiter who said someone would be with us shortly...which was like five minutes. Someone finally did greet us it was the owner..Lisa. she told us about the menu and started to walk away. We had to stop her and ask that she get our drinks. The waiter, Ben, then proceeded to wait on another table before us. I don't even think he knew we there. Service was slow and we had to ask for our plates to be cleared. Lisa walked by and didn't help clear nor did the other waiters help each other. I did give this feedback to the waiter when we were paying our bill. He then said they were short staffed as they had a waiter call in. Hello....business 101 ....close some tables or help each other out. We arrived at about 6 and had to ask for our bill at 0730. Came for dinner based on the average 4 star reviews and figured why not. Lisa was very friendly which was nice but the food was extremely underwhelming and over priced. Overcooked veggies and something on one of the plates had a slightly off putting smell. A few of us had sour stomachs later that night and early next morning. Now that I go back and read the reviews I see they are mostly for breakfast, so maybe we will come back and try it in the morning but definitely not dinner. read more

Lisa and her staff make you feel welcomed, she is from Jersey so definitely felt like I was back home. The food also did not disappoint, the crab cakes Benedict were very good, the hollandaise sauce is home made. All her ingredients are fresh not out of a box she claims, and taste was so very good. This place is delicious! My fiancé and I are here for a little getaway and we've been to Lisa cafe every day for breakfast. I had the spinach and feta omelette, and the corned beef hash and eggs. My fiancé had the biscuits and gravy and the cinnamon French toast. Let me just say that everything we had was fresh and homemade! One of the best breakfasts I've ever had! My husband and I live in the area and have been to Lisa ' s numerous times for breakfast and or brunch. The food is fair at best. The, service is slow as well as the kitchen. We have gone to Lisa ' s because it is close to us. But...no more! Lisa is one the most unprofessional owners that I have had the displeasure of meeting. She is rude, loud and obnoxious to her staff as well as her customers. I was embarrassed for the staff. She does not care who hears what she has to say. The, restaurant is not clean...ladies room leaves alot to be desired. We have spent and tipped generously at Lisa's a ND we feel our money would be better spent elsewhere. And lastly, Lisa knows us..so we got off the beach and I asked if I may use the ladies room. She looked me up and down and said no! She said that she would have to clean up the ladies room again and she is not doing that! Really??? I said you know me, I am a regular for breakfast and she said 7/11 is two miles down. Sadly Lisa's Cafe did not meet your expectations. Prices are too high for the mediocre food, mainly because you can tell they skimp on the ingredients. They also nickel and dime you for everything. I ordered a breakfast sandwhich with ham and American cheese. Both were cheap prepackaged slices. Portions were small. I asked for some fresh fruit instead of grits or home fries and I was told I could not do a substitution and fruit would have to be a full charge for an extra side. The grits I ended up getting were too dry and clumpy. The toast was soaked in butter and limp. We also ordered the French toast and asked if we could do half strawberries and half bananas instead of all strawberries. We were again told that was not permitted. Sadly, it would have actually saved the restaurant money as bananas cost so much less than strawberries. Staff was friendly but not focused on customer service. I don't mind paying more for good food but at those expensive prices you should be able to expect high quality, nice portions and the ability to customize your order at least a little. My wife and I enjoyed a nice meal there. She had the Grouper Oscar and I had the Grouper Picatta. The food was very good. The service was excellent and friendly. My main concerns were the price versus the environment. I would expect to pay over $100 in a gourmet 5-star restaurant for the meals, but not in a small "cafe" on Madeira Beach. I may return but only for a special occasion for the food. It is definitely too expensive to bring our children. read more

Worst service ever. While all other places are packed full this place wasn't. Although we were seen by what seems like management we were not greeted or seated, so we sat in a booth. Shortly after we were moved and waited over 15 minutes, until we gave up waiting to be introduced to our server and get drink orders, while a table that came in after us already had drinks. We wish we'd found this place sooner, it's terrific! The service was excellent on both our visits, clean, clean restrooms, and Lisa comes around to greet you. We had dinner once; the cheese ravioli w/ Lisa's marinara was awesome. Kids meals earned "10 million stars" and the burger was as big as the child's head! Lemon chicken was tender and flavorful; and the homemade meatloaf was a hit! For breakfast, kids meals were generous; as were the 2.99 pancake and 3.99 egg/meat/toast specials. Only drawback was the food took a while to prepare, but hey, this is not fast food! If we were locals, we'd be regulars, 'nuf said! read more

We rode our scooters here for brunch one Sunday. I thought it was really delicious and just the right amount! Corned beef hash was great although a bit salty which is typical. When that happens, I mix it with my unsalted eggs and that cuts the saltiness. $1.95 mimosas after 11:00! Lisa comes around to all the tables chatting and asking how the food is. I think that is really smart business savvy and she is funny in a NYC kind of way which I find refreshing. Very comfortable seating inside away from the traffic on Gulf Blvd. I would put the parking out front and the outdoor seating where the parking is but maybe she had no choice in the matter. Had breakfast here today. The website boasted fresh food and personable owners/staff. Well they were right. Very fresh tasty food that came fast. The staff, including Lisa herself were very attentive and cordial. The marble rye toast was delish. I had the corn-beef hash and eggs. It was fluffy and not greasy. I'm allergic to coffee. I know it's TERRIBLE. So I drink hot black tea with milk. They didn't have any. My husband drinks coffee and said it was the only let down. So add some tea to the menu and freshly grind your beans and you'll get a 5 star rating! read more

What a difference a year makes! We were looking forward to eating at a Lisa's again after our great experience last year, but SO disappointed! We've tried it twice within the last 2 weeks (hoping after our first visit this year was an off day), but something has changed - and not in a good way! I don't know if the chef has changed, but obviously the recipes and preparation of the food has. Each dish we tried was markedly worse: corn beef hash, omelette, Benedict and grits!
