Small diner-type place. I was skeptical at first, but I wasn't paying, so I enjoyed my time. . . lol I could not decide on what to get. When you are hungry, everything looks good. I decided to stay with the Mexican food theme. I had a taco, an enchilada, and a chile relleno. Everything was good! I haven't had a good chile relleon in a long time, and this one was good. The sauce was good on the enchilada. Everything was good. I had a tickle in my throat, and the chile was a bit spicy and made me cough, but it was good. I enjoyed the food and the company. Been dieing for a shower, and pulled up my rig to this One9 Truck Stop that I've never bothered to stop by. Felt like I was shot back in time to the 90s on route 66. The restrooms were retro, very 90s, run down but clean, and if I was running from the Sinaloa Cartel...I could picture myself hiding in a place like this. Almost like a mix between the films Memento and Breaking Bad. But yes, Lisa's Grill. I had to stop in at this Southwestern Flare Diner! It's situated inside the truck stop, with a very 70s & 80s atomic age diners vibe like that one scene in the Kingsmen movie. Loved the ceiling, bold colored red, glossy, with silver...makes Johnny Rockets look artificial. So I had to try their top picks on the menu. The Red Rooster -- country fried steak with red hot sauce, and their hatch chilli burgers. The food was ok, Id probably rate a 3.5/5. Menu is heavily influenced by Spanish cuisine. If your looking for a quick breakfast along route 66 in Central New Mexico, this is a good spot to take a break. Overall service, environment food I'd give it a 4/5. Going to be honest. I wasn't sure how to rate this place. I walked in and immediately wanted to turn around and walk out because the smell from the septic was overpowering. My sister however was starving and just kept walking in and seated herself. The waitstaff was friendly. They will chat you up if you are willing. Wasn't busy but it wasn't dead either. I got the Christmas Style Chicken Enchiladas. They were pretty tasty. Rice was under seasoned. I didn't try the beans. I would say if they cleaned up the septic and the smell this place would be 3 or 4 stars. But the smell had my stomach turning for a few hours. read more

After striking out at three previous spots (two in Albuquerque had min 45 to 60 minute wait; one in Who Knows Where, NM was closed on Mondays), we found Lisa's Diner. Right on rte 66, connected to the back of a truck stop. Our server, Kaitlyn, very helpful and efficient. I ordered a three egg omelet w jalapenos and mushrooms, hash browns, and sour dough toast. My best friend, The Scrubba, ordered an Albuquerque Turkey on wheat w coleslaw. Another benefit was that we are in Moriariry NM, the surname of a great friend, Ken the Kid. My omelet was eggggcellent, w just the right amount of heat. Scrubba also rated his sandwich a 4. I took two pics of the food, but they seemed to have disappeared into area 51. read more

50's diner vibe. Clean. Seat yourself. Waitress was nice, but a bit slow. The restaurant was not what I would call busy. It wasn't dead, but not busy. Food was diner food. Ordered a club sandwich and a patty melt. They were out of coleslaw - the only non-fried side. And no chips. So we settled for fries. She offered info about the other sides available for additional cost. None are non-fried. It was pretty good. The patty melt meat patty could've used salt & pepper during cooking. The fries were not piping hot but pretty good. Not greasy. As a side note, she took our order and told us she'd take the order from the next table and then put our order in. Loved this place - not what I expected at all from a restaurant in a truck stop. The restaurant was clean and charming, with a timeline of the history of Moriarty from 1100BC to 1970, when the I-40 was finished. Service was fast, professional and friendly. I had the Chiles Rellenos, and they were the best I've had in soooooo long! Crispy and obviously fried to order with fresh Chiles hit the spot after a long day on the I-40. I'm not sure you can get better in ABQ - handmade food made from tried and true New Mexican recipes awaits you here. Don't let the truck stop location put you off. ***** TRUCK STOP DINERS ... are not my preferred dining option :) ...and this Truck Stop did not look great from the outside either ... ... but I had a couple hours to kill, while my wife was occupied with a volunteer Medical conference, at the local High school .... Clean friendly convenient truck stop with a loyal following Food was terrific and the service from Joe was even better. I'm missing the Chicken fried steak, and will visit again if I'm ever in town. I get my food I start eating and then he walks out through the dining room. He looked like he'd been changing oil and filters on semi trucks all day. For a diner in a truck stop the food is fairly good and the prices are reasonable. Especially for the serving portion size. My last visit i wasn't very happy with the service. The waitress only seemed to be attentive when she figured I was almost done and ready to go. Also I did not get the chips and salsa that's suppose to come with the Mexican entrees cause they wanted to close early. Which I was not informed of at time of order and only told when I asked after waiting on them. Not a big deal but I should've been told in advance in my opinion. Quaint cafe/diner nestled in the back of this truck stop. Offers great service and a variety of options with the full menu available all day. Portion sizes are big and you'll leave full. We stayed the night here in Moriarty, NM for the night and found this place in the truck stop right across the street from our motel. Wow Wow wow. Found was exceptional and the restaurant is clean and updated. Definitely recommend the steak patty meal. The patty was larger than my xl hand and it was charcoal grilled, covered in cream gravy with mashed taters and corn. Just what I needed after eating Mexican and burgers for a week. This place is super random but it's New Mexico it's all super random and that's what's fun about it. Don't take yourself so seriously and enjoy yourself. The food portions are huge from the sweet tea to the burritos. The wait staff are all super nice. I was shocked to see a Thai woman working there (I'm Thai). The town is like a couple thousand folks but has a decent amount of food places and things to shop and do. It's a stop on Route 66 and Lisa's is a truck stop for gas and food. So you see a lot of truckers coming alone and chatting up other truckers. It was kinda cool to see. It's designed really cute like part truck stop and part 40s diner. Lots of TVs to watch the games. They don't try to rush you out either. It was a very pleasant place to visit and I enjoyed the food. I'd definitely be back. read more

So I order frequently from Lisa's and lately it's a hit or miss I've had meals replaced etc and still the same thing for instance I ordered a burger I asked for it median is cone so crisp that the cheese bits and ends of meat shatter. The fries are usually piping hot but more recently they I'm guessing are dropping them early and they come ice cold so I'm assuming a new cook but rumor has it that it's under new ownership. We didn't actually eat at the grill. We were filling up at the truck area when a woman walked in with breakfast burritos fresh from the grill. Hot and so good! We took two to enjoy with bacon, egg, cheese, potatoes and green chili. They were really, really tasty!! If we go back through we will make the stop just for the food. read more

I usually don't do these and had to make an account just for the occasion. I have been coming to Lisa's for years on my route. The staff has always been wonderful to me along with their amazing food. But the other day has changed where I'm wanting to spend my money. I had gone in during a usual busy hour at the restaurant only to find who I can assume is the owner yelling and screaming at the already stressed and short handed staff about wait time. I watched the waitresses scrambling to make sure everyone was kept happy and was served as quickly as possible but I refuse to support a man who thinks it's okay to treat his staff like that. Those poor girls were left crying while he walked away like it was just another day. I can't imagine how often this happens. That crew deserves better. read more

My family got sick after eating here. We heard good reviews on it and chose to try it. Never again. The food was bland and didn't taste good at all. The instant mashed potatoes were horrible and our food wasn't the best. We ended up shitting our pants once we got to the pumpkin patch and had to leave early cuz we weren't feeling good.
