Hubby and I went to Lisa's Place for breakfast last weekend. It has a very small-town diner feel to it. It's a very small place and the tables are so close together you can hear every word of every conversation at every table. PROS: * Friendly service * Food came out fast and was pretty good. Not great food by any means, but good. * The waitress took great care to make sure my eggs were cooked to my liking. * Inexpensive CONS: * I felt a little uncomfortable for two reasons (which will likely keep us from returning): 1. Several obviously regular customers and a woman we learned was Lisa were gossiping about someone (an employee I think) who suffered a stroke. It was just a little too much to handle. 2. There were only 2 non-Caucasian people in the place. * Small, cramped space * The place reeked of cigarette smoke due to an employee taking a smoke break by the back door. read more

I don't like giving negative reviews because I think about how it will affect the business but Lisa's simply lacks in many areas. The biscuits and gravy have no taste, they are runny and cold. I ordered a side of biscuits and gravy, one pancake and scrambled eggs and bacon. The server brings out the eggs and bacon and yells loud enough for everyone to hear "round one of your huge order". I wanted to get up and leave right then and there. I was so embarrassed. The food was not worth the embarrassment. read more

The reviews of this place are all right on. The staff was very welcoming and seemed to know a lot of the people in the restaurant. The food was very good - I had a blueberry pancake that turned into 2 meals because it was huge, and hashbrowns smothered in green chile. Their green chile is sooooo good, and pretty hot! My husband had biscuits and gravy and also had some green chile, eggs and bacon - he loved it! Large portions, low prices, very quick service and great staff. read more

Ugh....my husband and I debated where to go for breakfast. He wanted Denny's, I wanted to try something new. Should of gone to Denny's if that tells you anything. Biscuits and gravy had a strange, sweet taste too them. Very bland and lots of clumps of flour to pick out. Omelet was chewy and over-cooked and covered with processed cheese slices. Not good when that is the house special! The bacon was good but pricey at $3.75 for 3 pieces. The best thing by far was the Dr. Pepper and to have a to go cup cost an extra $.25. My boyfriend & I went for dinner because this restaurant got such great reviews and we were extremely disappointed. I picked through the mediocre burritos & we overheard the cook say, "You can't please everyone," when the waitress reported that my boyfriend didn't like the carnitas. I had breakfast here and I have to say that I loved it. This is definitely a "diner" type breakfast place. Very affordable. Great service. Free wifi...what more can you ask for? My over easy eggs were cooked perfectly (that is rarer than you would think...) and great has browns. If I lived closer I would probably be back more regularly. read more

We love this place for breakfast! Staff are amazingly friendly which is customer service I think that you seldom see in a larger city. The food is spot on consistent each time. This is a great American type eatery. Comfort food in a comfortable setting. And there is some sort of strange magic in their ice. My kids love their ice because it's like hospital ice, almost snow cone consistency. They made renovations to the restaurant, improving decor and appealing to younger customer base. read more

I had high hopes for this place after the reviews but unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. I had the steak and eggs with a side of the hot green chili. The steak was good, eggs as well, but the green chili was awful. Way too much garlic. The hash browns were okay. My wife had the house omelet also with a side of green chili what was mild. The omelet was dry, and the same issue with the green chili as before, way too much garlic. The customer service was friendly and good. The prices were not bad at all. This place is a gem! It was busy for 11:20 in the morning there was a line for seating but our wait was just a few short minuets enjoyed by looking at the truly homey decor. The steak and eggs breakfast was cooked perfectly and hit the table just as requested. My counter part had the biscuits and gravy and noted "the sweet biscuits pair well with the salty gravy" as she reminisced about her childhood. The service was fast and we were in and out in under 30 min. Granted we both eat fairly fast. We will be back! read more

Food was very good. Be warned that the portions are quite large. The service was good, but quite typical of a local joint with lots of regulars. Limited seating, so there may be a wait.. Lisa circulates through the crowd, and also serves tables. We will return at some point to see if this was a one off, or the norm. Will post again after I find out. read more

Nice little hole in the wall. Place is very small but our food came out pretty quickly. Husband got his usual chicken fried steak and I tried French toast. The French toast is sprinkled with cinnamon sugar on top which made it delicious. Hubby's chicken fried steak had some sweetness in the batter which was a welcome surprise! Server forgot our drinks, and was very misplaced about our table versus other tables. We got wrong food. And then didn't get all of our food that we ordered. Green chill was not what we expected. I would certainly debate the "best green chili in Denver" review. All of the other reviews are dead on. Small, cramped, dirty, great service. The host wiped down our table and it took 10 minutes to dry. She wiped down the table beside me and I felt sorry for the people she sat there, it was sopping wet. The box fan propping the back door open was bringing the cigarette smoke in, confirming a fellow Yelpers post. The food wasn't bad. Ordered standard breakfast, eggs were runny (ordered over easy) the sausage dry & wrinkly. Hash browns so so. If you enjoy independent greasy spoon truck stop diner atmosphere, this is your place. You may enjoy the cotton cutoff sweat pant and tee shirt uniforms. You will definitely love the service! The food is okay. read more

I'm kind of shocked by all these good reviews. I will say this it was awesome bacon. Thick, and crispy. You get like 4 pieces. The eggs were cooked just the way I like. Cooked over medium. They were perfect. Almost all restaurants don't get it right. However, I am a big fan of potatoes in general. My meal came with hash browns. They tasted like microwave burnt tater tots. They weren't even warm. The toast was spongey and weird also. While I was uber impressed with the bacon and eggs I gave a 2 star because I felt really uncomfortable in the place also. It was like children of the corn patrons and super super small!! Like imagine a long narrow walk in closet from the 1970's. read more

Not from Colorado and my friend wanted to try something new. We decided to hit up Lisa's place. Our group got a wide variety of foods from our very friendly, although be it confused waitress, Mona. She took our order and promptly returned with questions. "Did you want coffee?" She had to re ask every individual of our party. Our order was brought to us and looked delicious. It wasn't.... Biscuits and gravy tasted like flour. Hash brown tasted like burnt card board, the eggs and bacon were done well. Although the meal itself left something to be desired, the atmosphere was right on.
