I have heard so many great things about this place. Take my opinion lightly because I know several people who love to eat here. I got the chicken fried steak smothered in green chili. My guest got the same with their country gravy. My green chili was so bland. It was like flavorless. My guest said the same thing about her country gravy. It was odd. Probably one of the worst green chili dishes I have ever had. Los Dos, Los Arcos, Great Scott's, the Platte Bar and Grill is green chili I am used to. Village inn in all seriousness even has better green chili than this place. Sorry for being so negative. Like I said it was packed inside and I know people love their food. We both got the biscuits and gravy, I got the A breakfast. Do note that they don't do lunch until after 11, if you aren't very notable like me I completely missed it. One side of the menu is breakfast only! The gravy was thick, an uncomfortable uncooked thick. I wouldn't personally recommend anything with the gravy, though the biscuit and the sausage were great. You could definitely tell the gravy was either reheated, or uncooked just because of how thick it was. My boyfriend ended up actually getting food poisoning from it, I bake consistently and eat a lot of uncooked flour/ rue so it didn't do a lot to me, but definitely did make me sick. End result, really wouldn't recommend. Haven't tried anything else but the two biscuits and gravies, so that's where the hope comes with the first star. Hopefully everything else is good. The service was great though, the lady was patient with me and our food came quickly (but that's where my possibly reheated gravy theory comes in) was it was too soon because it was reheated, and everything else was quickly made? Basic, down home cooking at its finest. We came at 9am on a Saturday, and it was busy but not slammed. The server gave us an option of two tables, and we got started. I was hoping for some Asian flair based on some of the decor, but no such luck on the menu. However, everything we had was very good. I got the spuds burrito, which was basically hashbrowns in a tortilla with cheese, Swiss cheese on top and green chile smothered. The green chile half and half was spicy- I might go mild next time. It was good, but my husbands biscuits and gravy were significantly better. The biscuit was yeasty and tasted homemade, the white gravy was flavorful, with sausage patties underneath. I would order that again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend, and we will absolutely be back now that we have found another good local place for breakfast. read more

Lisa's is a hole in the wall place, which usually means great food. I tried it to mix up my breakfast routine (usually go to Red Rooster). When i arrived, staff was friendly. Ordered my usual chicken fried steak, eggs over easy. CFS was good, eggs well prepared, good potatoes. But the gravy was lacking. I had to add salt to it, which I seldom use. It was as like they just made a rue with milk instead of gravy. It was flavorless. I couldn't believe it. Good gravy is so easy to make. I ate it since I paid for it, but was so disappointed. I wanted it to be good so much. Even considered a second trip, but if the other reviews say this issue has been happening before I went there. It's such an easy problem to fix. read more

My boyfriend brought me back lunch from here today. I ordered the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and hash browns. It also came with toasted buttered bread and prepackaged strawberry jam. The corned beef hash was really well seasoned! I enjoyed it a lot. The eggs and hash browns were average, nothing special but no complaints. Was in Colorado for my brother's funeral. Boyfriend wanted American for breakfast so we decided to come here after the place we originally wanted to go to was closed. While we love trying out new places and small mom and pop shops, this place while it has high reviews was a bit disappointing when it came to customer service. When we walked in we saw that they were some what busy how ever there were a few tables opened. After the waitress asked us how many was in our party, we didn't hear from her again. Not a single, "the wait for your party size will be xyz, or were waiting for a few tables to clear up if you're ok waiting".. we just stood there and they just kept walking by us. At one point we were going to leave but since we had already been waiting for close to 30 minutes now we figured we'd wait just a little more. My younger sister finally gave up, went to ask and came back unhappy. She left. About another 15 minutes went by and we were finally seated. By this time our eagerness to eat and try a new place already passed by. Nothing special about the food. The service was disappointing and subpar. The build is small and cozy gives you a real at home feeling. The service was very friendly, welcoming and efficient. When I walked in there was servers who knew customers on first name basis and greeting openly. Which is always a good sign having regulars that come by so often. This place can suck it. Went today Saturday at 11:45 am. Sign out front say closes around 1ish. Walked in and place was packed. Woman says we're closing in 15 minutes and we have a full dining room. I have never felt more at home then having breakfast here. Service was a 11/10. The food literally left me speechless. So amazing. I had the chicken fried steak and let me tell you I have had a lot in my day and let me tell you it was off the charts perfection. My only complaint about this place is that every time we come here, we usually get brain damage from the parking lot. It is very small and poorly designed. Once we're inside however, everything is well. We are always treated nicely and the service is always spot on. Well not sure what has happened to this place ...it used to be good. Had a breakfast burrito and the potatoes had no seasoning at all, the green chili wasn't their norm, didn't even finish it . My partner has the same thing and we complained and they did nothing just sat a salt shaker on the table. Best breakfast around, the lunches are so so, we went a few days ago and I had the mexican burger, asked for medium green chili and pretty sure I got the hot, also the burger was very bland and luke warm, hubby got a grilled bacon and cheese and the cheese wasn't even melted. Been in Denver for 2 months now, recent move from Albuquerque, and I've found the BEST place for breakfast!! Not only is the food amazing but the service is top notch. I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak came out exactly as I ordered it, the eggs were perfect and the hash browns had a good crisp on the outside. The wait staff was super friendly and very attentive to my needs. Throughout my time at the table, my water was never empty or anywhere near it. They were able to manage the "hectic" rushes of people that came in for Labor Day very well. Only waited 5 minutes to be seated. I will definitely be back!! The table next to me was also so friendly; they mentioned they've been coming here (old location also) for 25 years!
