My husband went to this office because he was experiencing some mild soreness and just needed a quick check. Instead, he was told he had multiple major dental issues and was presented with a treatment plan involving a tooth extractions, crowns, and several other procedures totaling thousands of dollars out-of-pocket -- even after insurance. The whole experience felt rushed and very high-pressure. Before agreeing to anything, we decided to get a second opinion later that same day. The other dentist told us that his teeth were nowhere near as bad as described. He did not need any extractions or crowns -- just a deep cleaning and possibly one or two small fillings. Our total with insurance at the second office was $10, not thousands. After reading through Yelp reviews later, we noticed a lot of people mentioning that this place seems extremely profit-driven -- and that absolutely matched our experience. We understand that treatment opinions can vary, but the drastic difference here was alarming. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to anything at this office. This is hands-down the friendliest, most helpful dentistry. Dr Moreira literally has the hands of an angel, and is the first dentist that I've seen who made numbing painless and not scary. The business had all the makings to a normal dental office. I have to mention how polite everyone was. What and how I needed done, they did not want to do. Just tell me that. Don't go and make statements about the teeth, making me feel stupid. I thought I would share this lack of empathy with you. I have been with the doctor for 10+ years and I finally decided to walk away. To be honest, the doctor's professional experience and skills are good. But, I have to say that their business practices is very much "$" driven and sometime, unethical. One example: One of my molars cracked and needs a crawn. During the installation, the fitting grinding down too much which penetrated the ceramic and exposed the cement. I would assume that the doctor should had clearly observed this "accident" and told me the truth. However, he did not say anything. This already damaged crown soon failed and fall off within only several months because the acidic saliva reacted and weakened the cement quickly. I went back and the doctor "casually and easily" told me he will replace it "free" as warranty coverage without any sense of apology considering my painful experience and very much inconvenience! This bad story keeps going on. After the replacement crown installed, during the next cleaning appointment, the doctor told me that he "found" the crown ceramic contains a small void caused by resin bubble at the crown manufacturer, which is about 1/32" diameter and must had been exposed and visible during the installation. Again, this doctor did not tell me! The void is so small and have technically no impact to the function of this crown. But, he and his office ladies tried again and again to convince me to use my insurance coverage to replace it without considering what the hell of benefit for me? read more

The doctor himself is nice enough. The problem is that he's being very poorly served by his staff and that is a shame. When i 1st went there it seemed like a very str8 forward practice but upon return visits they turned VERY nickel-and-dime despite REPEATED assurances that they don't pull that kind of bull. I would caution anyone coming to this facility. I called and spoke to a lady named Cynthia to inquire about the FREE emergency/limited dental exam for a 2nd opinion especially since I have been waiting to see and Endodontist due to the long wait with being schedule so far out with a problem visit (Scheduled in Jan 2025..but got appt moved to Nov. 2024) from initial emergency exam 6 months prior with a different dental practice. I was advised to see the endo to re-pack my tooth I had a root canal and crown placed on back in 2009 but had an infection underneath. Fast forward to this initial consult..when I arrived here the office is was clean and nice. the staff members were okay including the hygienist. Esther was really nice and I confirmed with her before she started doing my X-rays that this visit was indeed a free emergency limited dental visit just like when I called initially and confirmed with Cynthia due to me only having an insurance that doesn't cover dental they both stated yes. However, Esther took several X-rays and even said the hygienist will be in to check your teeth to determine what type of cleaning you need. Again, I asked Esther if this was the free exam because I actually work for a dental office and since I had just had one back in May 2024 I wanted to make sure so I won't be charged as I knew something was off with all the X-rays and hygienist coming in to "determine" the type of cleaning that this was not a free limited exam and I felt they tried to scam me. The dentist Seraphim told me I had an infection but did not want to give me antibiotics until I had completed some of the treatments plan he was suggesting and telling me to just have it extracted and that i had some bone loss which was not stated several months before and saying to do a dental implants and all of this treatment for other teeth. The tooth was and is in good shape from when I had dental insurance and previous dentist stated to just have it repacked due to nothing being wrong with tooth. Fast forward I had just finished antibiotics for a sinus infection and then he stated that he wasn't going to give me one since I have many allergies to medications and I just finished one...which is nonsense and i even asked why he wouldn't be willing when I have an active infection and then he stated once I did the treatment of extracting the tooth then he would give antibiotics after that which is not proper protocol. Then when they led me to check out to go over this treatment plan and said that my visit today was going to be $49 and I said confused that this was suppose to be a free limited exam then she told me but you had a full exam and I said but when I made my appointment I made sure to asked and make sure it was in my notes and confirmed again with Esther would you like to go get her to confirm that..She then said no with an attitude whic was the 2nd red flag. When I even brought this medication situation up Cynthia tried to tell me the Dentist did not say he wouldn't give me an antibiotic when she was not sitting back there and if he wasn't opposed then he should have went ahead and wrote the script not trying to withhold a rx until treatment. Cynthia then tried to sweeten it up saying well it's because if you have an antibiotic it will kill off the good bacteria and all of this foolery in which he did not write a rx. Even emergency and urgent care send rx for abscess or tooth infection it's common sense. Then as I was sitting there with this treatment plan she was like do you want to go ahead and sign up for this financing they have to see if I was approved right there and I said no because of how they tried to deceive me with deceptive practices. I later called back about the rx and let her know I work for a dental office which I do and that this isnt proper protocol and to see if they would send my x-rays then at that point she said they can see if they can call in an rx and asked which ones I could take and then stated she would email my X-rays. They finally sent rx over to pharmacy. I didn't receive the x-rays through email and reached out second day very politely requesting them and no welcoming tone just a message stating please let us know once received no hello. I have seen these same type of deceptive practices of trying to lure you in with free stuff and then trying to charge you for other stuff and quote a whole bunch of dental work then try to even "see what type of cleaning you need" is a dentist who tries to profit off his customers so I am sharing this to not be fooled by there reviews and clean practices and maybe they treated me this way thinking I was dumb but surely how things changed letting them know I work for a dentist office and I wouldn't even go to where I work because of same type of practice. my first initial exam at a cheaper place and cost was straight to the point didn't try to deceive me and I would not go here for treatment. read more

We started going to Dr Moreira at Litchfield Smiles about 25 years ago. We moved out of state and still returned to him every six months for our dental services as did our two children (now adults). He is a perfectionist and has always made sure we are happy with the work he has done. We have now sold our home in Arizona, so it will no longer be possible for us to go to Litchfield Smiles, sad day. His office staff, hygienists, and dental assistants are truly the best. It will be difficult to find a dental office in our new city that we feel as comfortable in. If you are looking for a great dentist in the West Valley look no further. I can't believe I found the best dentist around. Dr. Moreira and staff are absolutely wonderful. He and his staff are professional, compassionate and experienced. Trish, his hygienist is absolutely wonderful. I had my first deep scaling and cleaning done. It sounds awful but she did a great job and I had no discomfort when the numbness wore off. They were able to get my daughter in same day to get wisdom tooth extracted - twice. In November we paid $200 less than today's visit for the same procedure. When I was asked why, I was told this tooth had more soft tissue and last time we got a discount for being a first time customer. I'm not a dentist so I don't know if there was more soft tissue or not. I definitely feel duped after today's visit. read more

They are awesome! Reception are all so sweet and organized- and they are knowledgeable about insurance! Cynthia just adjusted my bill because she was able to look into my insurance and was able to have them cover something that I was billed for- wow! The hygienists are better than some dentists I've had- and also so sweet. They're also amazing with my kids. So I may be a bit biased, but I do believe the bias is completely warranted. I've been going to Dr. Moreira for 20 years (I'm 25) and I've driven 300+ miles 2x a year (when I lived FOREVER away) for my cleaning and check up. This guy is Brazilian, adorable, and gives THE BEST shots ever. I know why people hate going to the dentist, but I thankfully look forward to my semi-annual visit. The front desk: the gals are truly lovely. Barb and Susan are cheerful and incredibly helpful. Hygienists - they're all very gentle and proficient. AND they offer payment plans for all your services - though I have found I don't need to utilize it because even as a college student, I can afford the prices. if you're looking for a better dentist, Dr. M is well worth the drive. Everyone here, from the ladies in the front, to the assistants, to the dentists, are all extremely caring, loving and friendly people. This facility has a wonderful team of people and Dr. Moreira's work is phenominal/flawless/perfect! He is very passionate about what he does. It's been 20+ years since I've been to the dentist so I still have a lot of work that needs to be done, but I have my smile back and I couldn't be happier with the results thus far! I have seen Dr. Moreira since I was a child. Nearly 15 years later and many moves to different states and even countries and he is the only dentist I fully trust. I have tried twice to use a different dentist when living out of state due to convenience and they really messed my teeth up and I had to have Dr Moreira fix it. He is a very gifted and talented Dr who is more skilled than just general dentistry. He did a root canal for me 10 years ago and last year I went to an endo to get a root canal done while living out of state -- the endo could not believe that my first root canal was done by a dentist because is was so perfect!! Just recently I had an 8 week old crown crack from an out of state dentist who "installed" it incorrectly in my mouth. I went to Dr Moreira to fix everything and he even spoke to the dentist on my behalf to help get the dentist to make the situation "right" by paying for my new crown. Dr. Moreira is an amazing dentist, he's funny, compassionate and his staff is a pleasure to always be around. They will always fit you in with a dental emergency. I am moving again and plan to fly back to Arizona for all future dental work. He's the only dentist I completely trust! read more

I first came here because my front teeth were in absolute shambles. I had consulted a Dentistry closer to home but there was a lack of communication and the prices extremely high. Dr Moreira sat down and carefully explained exactly what I needed. I had to have all four of my front teeth "capped". Obviously this isn't cheap but his prices were fair. He did an amazing job! Absolutely pain free and my teeth match the rest so you can't even tell they're caps. I was so relieved! Most recently I needed a tooth pulled..zero pain, couldn't even feel the Novocain shot. Staff is knowledgable and friendly. I was seen promptly at the time of my appointment each time I've gone which is nice..One thing I need to say is that Dr Moreira is a very cool guy. Warm, attentive, good bedside manner and funny. Most other Dentist's I've seen are a bunch of dorks with no personality. So glad I came here and will continue to do so. This an outstanding dental practice....my wife, I, and other family members have been in Dr. Moreira's care since he arrived in Litchfield Park years ago. The doctor is really something -- kind, gentle, comforting -- has a great sense of humor, and just happens to be incredibly gifted at his craft.
