Years ago, I was able to attend Literary Arts' summer festival programming, where I saw Tom Hanks and Abbi Jacobson on stage. It was so fun to see these actors-turned-authors speak about what drew them to the written word. Fast forward to today, Literary Arts has a new location on SE Grand. After finding free street parking and walking through some stinky streets, their store was a welcome destination. The space is warm and thoughtfully designed. While it's not the biggest bookstore in town, it's well stocked and is a more welcoming space to hang out in to read, work, or have a sip of coffee from their in-house cafe. These days, a lot of my reading is done via the library. But I love that they host events here for folks to meet authors or discuss topics of interest. I hope bookstores continue to stick around and act as multi-faceted community spaces more than one-note commercial operations. I'll try to do my part in supporting their mission and I'll always keep on reading!

The shop was open, bright, and colorful with the lovely pastel textured backdrop. The ice cream scoop menu was super cute and offer dairy-free options as well! Street parking available and the location was great with lots of food options within walking distance. Service was so friendly and helpful and we loved the big windows all around so you can have a fun view no matter where you are sitting. They offered coffee drinks, matcha, of course chocolates and in-house baked goodies. The brownie was SO decadent without being too rich and wow the flavors had so many layers to it - honestly the best brownie I've ever had! The strawberry ice cream was creamy and made with real berries in small batches for maximum quality and flavor. Our friend got the giant macaron which was also the perfect treat without being too sweet. Please come support this amazing local business and we can't wait to come back to try more things!
