I was introduced to Ravens Manor by another very cool immersive location, Wyrd Leatherworks and Meadery. I was visiting from out of town, and it was t far from our hotel, so we took a chance and dropped in for dinner. The ambiance was outstanding! Our server, Raven, was incredible, so big bonus for service. Very attentive and went above and beyond. The pictures speak for themselves, however the food exceeded my expectations. We had the mushroom risotto and steak tips, as well as the arachnicini, basically very creative Mac and cheese balls, and cocktails. While the menu is very limited, it was all outstanding. The craft cocktails alone are worth a trip to the bar (but don't actually trip - it's REALLY dark in there!). The risotto and steak were also both cooked beautifully. Altogether, this place is a MUST for horror fans and anyone who just likes the bizarre. Definitely walk around - there's lots of hidden gems in this place. Went on a Saturday night, got lucky, got seated at the bar immediately. Hostess and bartender were super nice. And like. Actually nice not the "I'm getting paid to smile right now" nice. Got a Daemon Ritus and Dr. Raven's Reserve. Daemon Ritus was like a creamy Mai Tai or tiki drink. One of the best cocktails I've ever had. Sweet but it didn't taste like absolute pure syrup. Dr. Raven's was good, pretty refreshing actually. Very lime forward but it didn't make my mouth pucker like a rear end. All other bartenders seemed super helpful. I wish I remembered my bartenders name but honestly they're all crushing it anyway. Decorations and vibe is killer. I'm giving the place five stars but with a note. The ambience here is unique and fun! My friends were jealous when I started sending them photos. The drink menu is fun to explore! Our service was super friendly and fun. We will definitely come again the next time we're in town. Now the note. There is some confusion about bar seating. Ive seen a few negative reviews from people who were told there would be a wait when there were empty seats at the bar. This happened to us our first time too. Like other people, we were confused why we couldn't sit there. In our case we were told it was a 45 min wait. This time we had reservations and were shown to our seat right away. If Ravens Manor would just clear this up for people it would help eliminate some of those negative reviews. OH! Let me revise, as my previous review was removed. After plenty of research, I wanted to visit Raven's Manor, visiting from CA. We stopped by on a Monday night at 8pm and when we entered, the hostess advised that the wait was 1.5 hours. It was surprising for a Monday night, and I was a little confused as we saw plenty of seating available. We were a party of 2, and we could see many empty seats available with small groups spread out everywhere. We were also advised it's a $10 cover fee per person. I think drink minimums per person would be reasonable, but cover at a bar and not a club is strange to me. We hesitated a bit, trying to decide if we wanted to put our name down or not as it would be 1.5hr wait outside at night in this area, cover per person, and drinks on top of it. Also, the hostess was very short and snappy with us, so she also impacted my first impression of this establishment. While we could overlook cover since we came from out of town, we decided that if we were going to be treated rudely at the door, it would be likely that the rest of our service would be poor as well, reflected by the hostess. She seemed annoyed that we took a few minutes to discuss putting out name down. It's not like there was anyone behind us. I found this place by looking for weird restaurants in Portland (might as well, right?) when I went there a few months ago. Boy, did this live up. The vibe is "haunted Speakeasy" and the decor and menu reflect that. I had a few drinks. One was their specialty: a glowing, bubbling concoction called Dr. Raven's Reserve. The other was a very old-fashioned absinthe tower. For my food I ordered a Wendigo Burger (bleu, of course), branded with a pentagram. LOL. Nice touch. Raven's Manor has been such a fun addition to the Portland bar scene over the last few years and the spooky charm grows on me more each year~ I first swung by this place when it had just opened and thankfully there were not crazy lines or over charges for events (will say this has been a downside more recently). I love the spooky drinks, the activities you can sign up for, and the mild fright that is pervasive throughout. I have been by a couple times to get their syringe filled jello shots, smoking cocktails, and eerie bites. The whole place has a spooky, haunted vibe that fits October without feeling gimmicky--dark Victorian decor, eerie lighting, and a fun, immersive atmosphere that makes you feel like you're stepping into a themed story. No dedicated fryer, but I got a side salad with my burger and the dressing was amazing, didn't even feel like I was missing out. We booked the Elixir Experience for a party of 4 on a Saturday evening at 9pm. We shared the experience with another party of 3. The experience was so fun much! Lady Red was hilarious, charismatic and made the whole first part of our time a blast. The "doctor" was fantastic and gave each party equal attention and made sure we were being safe and having a great time the entire time we were concocting our elixirs. There was a consistent spooky theme and the kindest staff members. With each table being candlelit, it added to the spooky mood. I loved being able to walk around and admire the decor and artwork. They had a fun add on for their ice cream and they were out of that too. We got in there right before the spooky decor was gone, I'm glad we did, it was so fun! The Elixir Experience could not have exceeded my expectations more than it did. I was expecting a group experience, at a family style table, with a bartender who was ready to go home, telling us how to mix a few drinks. What I was not expecting was interactive dinner theater. I don't know how else to explain it. We encountered Elizabeth, Dr. Raven's daughter who took us on an escape room~esque adventure in order to get us to drink the first dose of an Elixir that would prime us for some experiments. I was not expecting an actual DUNGEON in a BASEMENT that you access by secret stairs! I won't spoil the rest of the experience but if you haven't already you need to put this on your must do list because if you don't you're missing out the the coolest thing to do in the area. Stopped by the weekend of Veterans Day and got there right when they opened because we didn't have an appointment. We waited in line for maybe 10mins tops and the hostess was VERY nice and accommodating. We sat at the bar and one of the bartenders (a Latina) was super chill, chatted with us while she made amazing drinks. Shared with us what she was making etc. The decor here is pretty amazing. We were told they change it up every few seasons so this one was still Halloween themed but the next one was Krampus, which yassss!! I'd return here if I lived here. The hallway going to the restrooms were especially creepy, the picture frames jumping out at you loudly and the creepy voices in the bathroom- at least in the female one. Most excellent creativity!! I definitely recommend this restaurant as it's a very unique and fun dining experience. It's a mix between romantic (dim lit) & festive (spooky Halloween). I recommend making a reservation and/or expect a long wait when you arrive - it's typical to have a line outside the restaurant as it is constantly busy. IMO, it's best to arrive at the time they open. We arrived 20 minutes before they opened and there was a line already forming outside the entrance, but we got in quickly as soon as they opened. We came here for dinner and drinks and it was such a fun experience. The ambience is filled with thoughtful, spooky decorations at every part of the restaurant including the table settings, decor, lighting, menu names/items, & food/drink presentations. Even the staff were dressed in costumes and acted/spoke in a haunted & eery way which fit right in with the theme. The food was delicious. The 3 drinks we ordered (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Crystal Ball, & Sanderson's Life Potion) were all delicious, well made, & arrived with fun presentation. The food we ordered (app: Killer Shrimp & entrees: Grilled Cheese of Darkness, Parasitic Mind Risotto) were all delicious and full of flavor. The only complaint I can say is the risotto came with shrimp that still had the shell/tail which made it quite difficult and messy to eat. I would've preferred they unshelled the shrimp considering it was a $30 dish and it required a lot of work (& mess) to eat under such a dim lit setting.
