My friend and I came here with a Groupon for two beer flights and two 32 Oz. Crowlers. There was a wide selection of different types of beer. The server that we ordered from was really friendly. We did a flight of the summer colors (watermelon ale), sunrise summer ale, killer queen (amber ale with honey, vanilla, and cinnamon), and pineapple invasion. Our favorite was the pineapple invasion and since it comes in cans, we got 2 cans to go which was included in our Groupon. We sat at the picnic tables at the patio outside and it was so nice since it was only just us. There is a huge parking lot in the back, so you don't have to worry about parking. Also, you can use the QR code to access the menus of Chiddy's Cheesestakes and Dark Horse Tavern. We ordered some food from Dark Horse Tavern and it came to our picnic table. She was really knowledgeable and let us try tastes of the different beers so we could find our favorite. A very cool brewery in downtown Farmingdale. This nanobrewery is on a small size with a bar in front and a patio in the back. Lithology Brewing is an awesome joint to hang out in. We stopped by on a Friday afternoon around 3pm, and luckily they were open early on Fridays cuz they usually open at 5pm on any other weekdays. I had a flight of 4 which included Local Gold (West Coast IPA), Loyal to the Soil (Sessions IPA), Hoptonic Drift (NEDIPA) and Sunrise Summer Ale. They were totally drinkable except Local Gold (72.5 IBU) which was super bitter IMO -- I didn't finish the sample. My favorite one is Hoptonic Drift which was a super juicy New England Double IPA. I also purchased a pack of 4 one-pint cans for $16. During this visit, we also got to try their newly brewed Pineapple Wheat beer which was very refreshing. I can't wait to stop by to fill a growler. From the outside, it looks tight with a smaller section in the front and a narrow hallway next to the bar. There's a back section with huge fermentation tanks in the back but also additional seating. My real rating is a 4.5 because my friends and I tasted all 12 of their beers and we didn't like half of them - but it's not the place's fault but it is also their own beer - but I'd come back in a second! My friends and I normally go to Cork and Kerry across the street from Lithology for some drinks and good conversation. The three of us were going to c&k where we spend about $14 a drink + tax and tip and I actually was craving a beer - so were my two friends. So instead we ended up here and it was amazing. We had this barrel as our table which worked well for us and we decided to split a 12-beer-tasting-flight. We were actually pleasantly surprised with the service and presentation. We actually got lucky because we were originally really overwhelmed with the menu and had no idea what to order - a customer who is a regular there (to the point where she goes behind the bar) approached us because she saw how confused we looked. Always a fan of new craft breweries on the island and was happy to see Lithology move into Farmingdale! Walking distance from the train, this place is a win win! Although their beers are a little hit or miss for me, I've thoroughly enjoyed every time I've been here. The place is on the smaller side but it is beautiful. The décor is spot on for a cool little spot to chill and sip on a brew while you people watch Main St. They did a great job making this space their own which used to be the Taste of LI store. The prices are reasonable and the staff is chill af, helping you decide whatever beer you want depending on your preference. They do have quite a selection so you should be able to find something in your wheelhouse. Pints and flights are served in plastic cups but I mean, you're at a brewery, not a restaurant. It's hard not to love all the craft breweries popping up on Long Island. They represent local, creative brews, small business and independence from the "corporate man" of beers (I'm looking at you InBev). Each long Island Brewery has their own unique vibe. Lithology, with their crafty raw wood, potted plants, homey Pinterest-like decor, friendly staff and cute doggos abundant in the place is a without a doubt, a crowd pleaser. The space is small but it's never too stuffy in here. It's no suprise why this spot has been embraced by the farmingdale main street regulars (and bar hoppers)! I don't love all the beers, and would be hard-pressed to decide what to bring home in a growler. However what I admire about Lithology is their spirit, and willingness to try all sorts of combinations in small batches. The brewers behind the door in the 'labratory' really embrace the variety and spice of life and are not afraid to try things like sage and rosemary in their beer. While certainly not everyone's cup of 'beer', the variety of brews adds to the tasting experience. The past few times I've visited lith, I've tried the aforementioned herbal beer-- which is was called the bee's knees, the summer ale, the coconut porter, (which was deserty and reminiscent of barrage brewery's tribal cow + yada yada yada, yummy!) and a few others. The standouts so far were the porter and the cask ale they threw together with jalapeño and cocca. Different indeed. The occasional guest taps are a nice touch as well. I will definitely be making more return trips because I see it becoming a standout in Farmingdale/Main Street. The beer selection constantly changes, so I look forward to see what else they come up with this summer. read more

Lithology Brewing is a relatively small but fun and enjoyable brewery in Downtown Farmingdale. It is a very nice place to unwind after work. You can go there alone or in a group. Their beer is very high quality and brewed on the small scale. I liked how they were made with the most local ingredients as possible. Don't be turned off that they do not serve food because they are located right in walkable downtown area. There are plenty of food options within feet of there. The atmosphere is all tastefully done. I really liked how the staff were friendly and welcoming. They took me on a tour of the back, too, and I didn't feel as if I had been burdening them. First time I don't have much feedback. I stopped here after enjoy some yummy Vietnamese food at spring roll. It was pretty empty to my surprise as Farmingdale was really jammed packed. We were able to snag a seat at the bar. The bartender was really nice and gave us plenty of samples. Always a plus for me! Very clean establishment. They do not have food but have plenty of assorted snack for purchase which were all only a dollar! Unfortunately it didn't leave a lasting impression on me. I purchased a Groupon of one flight and a growler. I'm not into breweries but my boyfriend is and I thought this would be a fun addition to our day after hitting the movies. I'm not sure what he got, I think it was 3 IPAS and the last one was a cider for myself.. We got there around 3:30 pm and there wasn't a lot of people. The decor is nice but the wooden bar seats are extremely uncomfortable. The cider was very bitter so my boyfriend drank it after my 2 sips. The bartender was very detached and didn't interact with anyone, it didn't feel welcoming at all. I could understand if it was busy but it wasn't. She just looked like she didn't want to be there. On a positive note, they filled the growler for free which is rare. I probably won't be back. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with boyfriend. We had a groupon for 2 flights, a 64oz empty growler and a $5 merch credit. The place is really clean, but super small. We sat at a little bar attached to a wall towards the back but we didn't mind. They have like, 10 beers on tap, all different kinds, and even some guest brewers! The bartender was super sweet, and offered to fill up a 32oz with whichever beer in replace of the empty growler and our credit. Of course we said yes. The cooler part of it, though, was the fact that she told us we could go back and get it later on that evening because we mentioned we were going to another bar and then meeting up with 2 friends for dinner. We wound up getting back there around 7ish and she stayed true to her word. That was really awesome of her. Definitely a cool little brewery with super chill people checking it out. I'm visiting Long Island from Upstate- far upstate- where the farm brewing act has elevated the craft beer and spirits scene exponentially, so I'll admit I'm a bit spoiled. We noticed Lithology and stopped in for a flight. I'll review this one pro and con style, because it had some of each. The pros: the decor was on point. The bar had a clean, modern feel with a wall of succulents that I loved. Their graphic design on their merch is great too. I also really liked the bartender who took the time to explain each of the beers to us despite the fact the bar had a bunch of other people in it. The cons: there are two main ones for me. First- I couldn't find a beer I liked, and we tried 8 of 10 drafts. The flavor profile was flat across the board with the only strong flavors being malt, even where it didn't fit. The sour also had a slightly different flavor profile, and although I'm not a sour fan, it wasn't a standout sour flavor wise either. The second con- and this is big for me- the only way to get a beer in anything other than a cheap plastic cup was to buy a pint glass with the beer- for $12. If you care about your beer you don't want to drink it out of a disposable plastic cup. They appear to have a canning system, and had I found a beer I liked I would have had it canned to drink. I didn't go with the pint glass option because I'm traveling and $12 is crazy for one beer. Judging by other new breweries (although I think I heard they had been there two years) they will drastically improve over time. I'll check them out again in a few years. read more

This is a nice little brewery located in Farmingdale. The atmosphere is very traditional with lots of farmhouse elements, very soothing to drink beer in. The inside itself is tiny, but they are relatively new so hopefully once they gain popularity they can expand. We did a tasting, which included 4 samples for $8. The samples were standard size, and there were I believe 12 beers on tap, possibly a few more. A very wide selection to choose from. It consisted of IPA's, a couple of stouts, red ale, brown ale, APA. Really a good variety for all types of beer drinkers. The staff is very friendly and helpful when choosing a flight. Overall a nice place to try some good local beer. read more

The last time I came to this location, it was "A Taste of Long Island", a tiny shop housing some locally made goods and of course, locally made beer from breweries still looking to get themselves going. Lithology was one of these breweries, and though ATOLI was a cool concept, I thought Lithology's take over would be for the better. After visiting here Saturday with some friends, I'm sure of it. Right along Main St, Lithology may not be large, but stands out with its awesome, cream colored logo (and a little blue thrown in on the awning). Enter and it's completely revamped from what used to lie here. If a miner and a brewer had a baby, then you might be able to describe Lithology. The walls are scattered with a combination of earthy, botanical pics and plants along with some brew-based images mixed in. The bar is cleverly set up with wooden crates lining the wall behind it each filled with Lithology gear, and the beer choices are displayed to the side hanging on clipboards. Speaking of beer, eleven brews hung on that side wall, including a couple of guest taps from LI nano-brewieries (Shout out to Flying Belgian and Tweaking Frog). The bartender was knowledgeable about what was on tap and everyone decided on a flight (four tastes for $8). I went with the limited release Mint Chocolate Brown Ale (brewed for LI restaurant: Brewology), The White, Magia Nera Stout, and U-Pick Pumpkin Porter. The Mint was interesting to say the least, with a refreshing bite on the palate followed by a slightly sour finish (if possible I'd get it again). The White was the best of the four and arguably one of the better beers of sampled over the last month. It was crisp and full-flavored with notes of sweetness from the orange zest. Magis Nera had all the great qualities of a good stout with a nice underlying espresso flavor. Can't say I loved the U-Pick, but I've had so many pumpkin beers as of late that I might be a little burnt on them. Overall, Lithology has come into its own right in the heart of Farmingdale, giving us another new, and superb craft brewery. Their pint glass has been added to my collection as I'm sure that not before too long, I'll be back to sample more great brews (and maybe a pint or two!). read more

I visited this place the first time last weekend. This was the first restaurant I visited since March. I asked the bartender for a recommendation, and the beer I got was really nice (summer ale). I was a bit nervous about reopening, but I appreciate that he followed rules such as wearing mask and changing gloves when serving drinks. Pleasant service and outdoor seatings are other pluses. Let me start this by saying that my husband is from Nassau county... and I'm from south Alabama. I found this place while visiting his family for the holidays! The atmosphere was so comfortable and really get a sense of community here! I struggled with a star rating for this place as it's unique and I didn't feel an impact or had an impression. Place is cozy and the barkeeps are friendly. They have a decent amount of beer. The layout is modern and they have free pretzels. It's on the Main Street strip in Farmingdale so lots of choices for places to hang and grab a beer. I would suggest to stop in on the days they're open, which is Thursday to Sunday and try a craft beer. read more
