This place is a fantastic dive! It's the right kind of dirty, yet has the best kind of atmosphere. What I mean about the right kind of dirty is the ladies room was clean. The bartenders were so cool. I really enjoyed chatting with them over a beer, and we met some great people too boot! Major down side was the $15 cover. Highway robbery in my opinion. I live in a major city and the clubs downtown that are HOT have an inflated cover. I get that they had multiple bands, but that amount was ridiculous. We're here till Friday, I hope to go back there, because it was really awesome, but I hope the cover isn't as pricy during the week. read more

My son said we needed to stay in Evergreen because it had an authentic saloon. Well, this place is the antithesis of a sterile chain eatery. Music, dollar bills taped everywhere, names carved into wooden tables...you name it. The shirts say "Colorado's Rowdiest Mountain Bar" and the aura agrees (think of the country bar in Blues Brothers only darker and with a history. Alas, due to limited staff we had to place our order at the bar but it was brought to our table. The food ranged from meh (sausage sandwich) to decent (burgers). A guitarist covered a variety of hits from yesteryear while we took in the thousands of bits of eye candy, including music posters, license plates from around the world, and dollar bills with messages written on them. Upstairs was empty but sported long benches arranged for easy copious drinking and a view of the stage. Definitely unique; if you like authentic divey, search no farther. But then you check out the bras hanging from the ceiling above the stage and all the carvings in the wood. History: this was an old church converted into a bar. My husband and I stopped in for a beer and to listen to some live music. The server got us a drink right away but never checked back in until we flagged her down to pay. They serve beer in disposable, plastic cups. We got a pitcher of Blue Moon for $9.75 so reasonable pricing. I would have probably giving it another star due to the atmosphere if the server had ever come back to ask if we wanted another drink. Guess if you want something going to the bartender is the way to get it. The atmosphere here is really neat. There is a melting pot of patrons, bikers, hikers, and everything in between. The bar is wood and seems like every surface is written on or carved into. There are bras hanging from the ceiling around the stage. There are license plates all over and for some reason one dollar bills stapled to the walls, which I was going to ask our server about but since she never came back opted out. It was about 3 in the afternoon so the band that was playing was not a headliner so there was no cover to get in. I would classify this as a dive bar with live music. I wouldn't necessarily eat here as the tables are dirty as is pretty much every other surface you look at. Luckily we had just eaten at the winery/deli across the street so we were not hungry and therefore I cannot comment on the food. If I was in the area again I would stop in to listen to the bands and have a beer but wouldn't go out of my way to return here. read more

There's a lot of decorations hung, stapled, and otherwise adhered to the walls and ceilings. If I had to give a style to it, I'd say "sophisticated hobo" but in a good sense. There's live music which is a plus. The buffalo burger was very flavorful and I'd recommend it to anyone. Make sure to order it medium rare or medium (at the most). Anymore though, the staff are not very friendly, the mixed drinks taste like jet fuel, it's dirty, smells like urine....And be careful if you have any fun, they may just flat out refuse to serve you! First of all, the town of Evergreen is fun to visit. It is a small, quaint little place tucked into the mountains just outside of Denver. It is a beautiful drive through Morrison or on the 70, so when you drive into the town you are already in good spirits. It would not have taken much to satisfy me food and entertainment wise, but the food, service, and live music that The Little Bear offered was exceptional. I had the cheeseburger, and it was amazing. The homemade chips were a tad burnt, but still had good flavor. The atmosphere was friendly, the service excellent, and the prices were decent. Also, the live music was awesome. Jack Yoder and the Two Piece Suit were playing, and they served up some delicious bluesy tunes. I'll definitely go back here the next time I visit Evergreen. read more

At first glance, one might assume this old bar room has "atmosphere" but don't be fooled into thinking that this signifies an enjoyable eating and drinking experience. What this place, and its staff, has is "attitude" . . . and a bad one. Food is only "OK" and the very, very, very poor (boardering on indifferent) service makes this a 1-star at best. I had a similar bad experience last Sunday afternoon as other reviewers have discussed. The waitress was frazzled trying to handle too many tables in a busier than normal day. Took about 20 mins before she acknowledged our group. There was a man sitting at the bar that would sort of bus the tables. Could not tell if he actually worked there. Totally useless if he did work there. We received our food in a timely manner but a pizza had a hair in it. A salad also had a hair in it. The salad greens were brown. I am always disappointed in a restaurant relying on its past successes (I used to like this place) and on unsuspecting tourists. I'll avoid this restaurant on my next visit to Evergreen. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to stop here after a long day of hiking and bouldering. It looked like a neat place, the window read, "Home made pizza and burgers," can't go wrong.... or can you? We walked in, a band was playing..so far, so good. The place had a good feel to it, great music and ambience. We decided to share nachos with guacamole and a 14" supreme pizza. When the nachos came, it didn't matter what the band sounded like or what the place looked like anymore. first off, the server forgot our guacamole. the nachos were just burnt chips with melted, hardened cheese. The most flavorful part was the sour cream. We decided to not complain and waited for the pizza. The toppings looked fresh, the pizza looked doughy, all white, no crisp crust. After my first bite, I was done. NO FLAVOR AT ALL. If you like to pay 18 bucks for cardboard, this place is for you. 7 dollars for chips and cheese wasted. maybe they should close kitchen and just focus on getting a better beer variety. we will never be back. read more

Pretty bad experience here last night. Myself and some friends were famished and stopped by on a recommendation from a colleague. It was about 9:30pm but we were told they were still serving food and the kitchen was open. So we put an order in for some starters and some burgers. We got the starters but after about 20 minutes or so the server told us the kitchen guy didn't want to do any more cooking! We asked what their hours were. She says it changes but usually as long as the band is playing. Well the band was still playing and they took our order. So he couldn't be bothered cooking for us? Really bad service! Got there about lunch time on a Saturday. We walked in and there were only a few tables in what seemed to be the main dining area. They were taken, so we went near the stage where live music was being played. It was mellow; just a guy with his guitar. The problem is, nobody ever came to bring menus, take a drink order, nothing. 10 minutes, we figured maybe they just don't serve that area. Went back to the main dining area and found a table had opened up. Then things started moving. Got a menu, drinks, and then placed our order. The food took a little longer than average, but not so long as to be considered unreasonable. After we were brought our food, our waitress never checked on us again. Not to offer a second drink, not to check if everything was ok, not even to bring the check! We had to request our check 4 times! Our baskets were cleared and still no check. When I asked for our check on the 4th time our waitress asked if we knew who our server was! They are disorganized, inattentive, slow, and disrespectful of people's time. The food was ok. Although, I should point out that when ordering "fish and chips", the "chips" should be what we call french fries, instead of something that is more like kettle chips. read more

I had a great time there this past Saturday night. You can't go wrong when you walk in the door and the stamp they put on your wrist says, "Think Happy. Be Happy." We were off to a great start. We went to watch the band, Arena Rock All-Stars. What a fun band! I loved the layout of the saloon. It made it easy to not only see but hear the band on the stage. The bartender was great, too. He knew how to make a decent vodka/soda. The pool tables upstairs are a little worse for wear but we weren't really there to play pool. The restrooms were clean so that was a huge plus. The establishment built in 1865 is a great historical reference in this area, the environment seemed ok. But the food was not exceptional, the pizza had a foul taste to it and when I selected something else after the issue, I guess the owner said it was fine to take it off the bill (thank you) but the burger was squeezed together and they placed it on the lettuce and tomatoes a hot burger. As a frequent traveler and eating in many places I never seen hot food on fresh vegetables. Again the environment is good for beer only not for food. I was blatantly ignored by the girl the last time and even though she saw me standing there for 5 minutes, she helped another lady who walked up well after me. They weren't busy either. The husband and I stopped in at the Little Bear today after a hike on Three Sisters trail. I was hoping to see the bra I left there 30 years ago. The bra is not there but the Little Bear is still bringing them in. I think my bloody Mary was one of the best I have ever had; there was no fancy buffet on a pick, no fancy vodka, no fancy glass but it kicked my butt with great flavor and lots of vodka, it went well with my classic Little Bear burger. The husband had a green chili strip on his burger; his fries were really good and my Cole slaw was OK. Service was fine and if we would have hung for a few more hours, we could have stayed for the 5:00 happy hour live band. Used to be a great local place. Management has reduced it to a tourist trap. Cover charges every night for bands. Went in for Sunday football, a former Lil' Bear tradition, and was greeted by three TVs all playing f'ing TENNIS! No joke, tennis. Waitress said mgmt couldn't figure out the TVs. Yeah because that would be their job, which they clearly aren't doing. They're just coasting on the rep and historic structure of a once great bar. Sad to see. read more
