3-4 stars because it fits the bill in its category: quick, efficient Chinese takeout. And, on this evening looking for a place to fill these desires, this was nearly impossible to find. Everything else local was either fusion or a more formal setting, which is usually my style, but on this night I wanted super low key and simple. There are two tables if you choose to eat there as well as a consciousness about recycling. The woman who helped me, I think the owner or wife, was very pleasant and customized my dish without issue. I had a very pleasant experience all around and enjoyed my tofu with vegetables the next day for breakfast as well. Pleasantly surprised - had a nice portion size for the beef with broccoli lunch special and the ambiance is very cute for a take-out joint. The atmosphere is stylish, clean and well organized. I knocked a star off because my food was a bit bland, needs a trip to Flavortown! However, I must note that I swapped out fried rice for white rice and it was delicious and fluffy. They must have a great system in the kitchen because my food was ready in 5 minutes. This plaza is set in back (you cannot see it from the street) and my GPS sent me on a wild goose chase. Area was nice and quiet definitely a lot of parking space. Inside did have a table to eat/seat at which was great. Food came out fresh and in a timely fashion. It just lacked flavor. It wasn't nasty, it just wasn't great. I got shrimp and broccoli w fried rice (shrimp had tail shell left on them). My hunni got general tso chicken which taste more like sweet and sour chicken. I got a chicken and broccoli this afternoon, and there was no flavor to it. There was no juice and it was just so bland tasting the broccoli actually taste a little funny. We looked up options for Chinese takeout as we were staying at a hotel nearby. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken Combination Dinner and it was decent but the chicken didn't taste like what I have come to expect from General Tso's chicken. The broccoli was fresh though. We ordered the Plain Lo Mein for my 9 year old daughter and my 6 year old son. The kids said they enjoyed it but they did not eat a lot so that was the real sign of how much they enjoyed it. Surprisingly they said they would like some vegetables in it. My wife ordered the Hot & Sour Soup and Chicken Wing Appetizer. The soup was not as spicy as she would hope and she said it could use more flavor. The chicken wings were small but the bones were also small so there ended up being much more meat than expected but it could have had more flavor to it so she had to add loads of hot sauce to it. Well worth the price. She had Singapore Mei Fun which was a generous serving and very good as well. This place is more of a carry out type of place, although there is 2 tables you can sit at and eat, with no server covering the tables. I got my food to go and sat down and ate. I actually think the Chinese food here is better than most places I have found in the area. The quality of the meat and the presentation is good. I got the gluten free general tso's chicken. The meat is quality inside, cooked perfectly, and tastes spicy and sweet. I also got a nice sized container of rice on the side. I put up some pictures of my last 2 experiences here. This has got to be the nasty Chinese food I have ever eaten. I attached a picture of the boneless spare ribs and it's more like boneless chunks of fat. You can see how white it is. The chicken was fine if you like soggy, bland, deep fried food, smothered in sickly sweet goop. The meat in the beef dishes was grisly and had an odd texture. She then began to argue with me for several minutes that the dish comes with tofu, even though she AGREED that I had asked for "no tofu" when I ordered it! (Shows they care about their business and distinguishes them from other takeout establishments) - The food was fresh and delicious. You can tell all the food was made same day, if not made to order. The pork in the pork fried rice was real and not rubbery. The filling in the crab rangoon was light and creamy/ Outer shell light and crispy not dense - only suggestion is to place them in the wax paper bag instead of inside the combination plate container. -Service was great when you walk in. The young lady greeted me with a smile and was very polite when I came to pick up my order. -Prices and portions are set well. Message to the owner: Please Please Please - I know you've been open less than a year but do everything you can NOT to change the polite service lady at the front, cleanliness of your space, price point, and quality of your ingredients and you have a customer for life unless I move. Really yummy fast food Chinese. Vegetables were fresh and crisp, service was good and my son declared "best dumplings ever!" For him that means thick wrappers and not too much green onion. Tofu was crispy and not greasy and they didn't scrimp on the peanuts in Kung Pao. Servings were enough for two and we had lots of left overs. Rice was so sticky and delicious.
