I was craving Chinese food and decided to try something different from my usual spot. I found this place on Yelp, read through the reviews, and it seemed like the locals really enjoyed it. They claim it's the best Chinese restaurant in the area, so I thought I'd give it a shot. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted promptly. I ordered the chicken wings and reached for my debit card, but it's cash only. Luckily, there's a bank next door, so I withdrew some money from the ATM. While waiting for my food, I noticed a steady stream of people coming and going. It took about fifteen minutes to get my wings, and I appreciate that they seem to cook their wings fresh. The wings were a good size, with five pieces on the plate. When I took a bite, I noticed the skin was crispy, and the seasoning was spot on. However, when I bit into the chicken, I could see the grease. The meat itself was tasty, but I wasn't a fan of the excess greasiness. The service was friendly, and despite how busy it was, it's clear that people really like the food here. I might pass on the chicken next time, or maybe I'll give them another shot on a different day. read more

We stopped here for takeout after getting our tree from Jones. We are so happy to have finally found a good Chinese spot. We live in Woodbridge, but would gladly make the drive when the want for Chinese takeout hits! We had the general chicken, chicken and broccoli platter, egg drop soup and crab Rangoon. Our on "complaints" were I wish the Rangoon came with sweet and sour dipping sauce and my husband wishes the chunks of his general chicken were smaller. Hit or miss since they left Monroe. Tonight was a big miss. Sweat & Sour Chicken coating was dark brown like dirty oil as I cut the chicken I noticed how slimy it was. It was also soft and mushy as I took it out of the container. That's the last of my money they will take. read more

I decided to try this place as I was shopping at the IGA across the lot. Cash only, unfortunately I had some. I ordered the Pork Lo Mein and the Pepper Steak with Onion lunch specials. Each comes with Pork Fried Rice. The quantity was good for the price, but each dish was remarkably bland, even the fried rice. Take it from someone who's been getting the food here since they were located in Monroe, this is the best Chinese food that you'll have in Connecticut probably. I'll name my favorites for you. The crab rangoons are amazing. I think I could eat three orders by myself and they give you a lot for the price. The chicken and broccoli is also some of the best I've ever had. I love the garlic flavor in their sauce and the chicken always had the perfect thinness to it. The orange chicken and the sweet and sour chicken are also on the must have list. The BEST chinese takeout I've found in CT, I've been a customer of theirs since 1990 when they had a place in Monroe. My favorites are the Moo Shu Pork and the General Tso's Chicken (both excellent, a bit of spice can be found in those dishes, which is often lacking at other Chinese takeout places). I always drop in when going by on route 110, they serve such excellent chinese takeout that I just can't resist. read more

I had the vegetable lo mein with egg drop soup. Soup was fresh and delicious. Sometimes bad egg drop is overly yellow and gooey; Golden China's was light and fresh with lots of egg!!! The lo mein did not disappoint. The small portion is actually quite large. They did not skim on the vegetables. Good price. Nice staff. Clean restaurant. We asked for crispy noodles which were fresh, and mustard. My husband had the cashew chicken combo, came with an egg roll. Very large portion. Great price. He really enjoyed it. Chinatown Kitchen has provided many a delish meal for my family. We usually get pork fried rice, shrimp and vegetable extra spicy and mushroom egg foo yung. It's always very satisfying. I instantly latched onto this Chinese restaurant once I heard it was moving from Monroe to Shelton. Even better - it's located less than 10 minutes from my home! My family and I have never had a bad experience here. Service is very quick and accurate. I have never had a mistake in the three dozen times I have ordered food. There is only one table to eat at if you choose to eat your meal inside. I would guess 99% of people order out like me. Fridge with a basic selection of beverages if you choose to eat inside or pick something up to enjoy with your meal. I am pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food because of food allergies, but everything I have ordered has been pretty good. Wonton soup is always still boiling hot by the time you get it home and super comforting. General tsos chicken is always great but not as spicy as I would like. Egg rolls are pretty basic but still good. Pork fried rice is basic... only pork, onion and bean sprouts. I would personally like more veggies in my fried rice. Fried dumplings from the appetizer section are a meal on their own. For the price and portion size, I always seem to come back here at least once a month. Mostly out of location convenience and when a Chinese craving arises, I always come here. read more

Good Lord what happened to this place?? Just got off phone with mother and the whole conversation was about the chinese food we had last few times from Chinatown and how horrible it has become. Husband had same thought last night while eating the orange chicken. It was hard and chewy!! Not sure what it was but didnt look nor taste like chicken! The roast pork low mein had a dirty greasy oily taste that made me feel sick and noodle was mushy. Ordered the Shrimp and Mixed Vegetable Combination. The shrimp wasn't cooked enough and we nuked it a bit when we got home. For some reason Celery comprised ninety percent of the veggies.
