Absolutely one of the highlights of my birthday month!…read more I came across an Instagram post featuring the trail from Burlington to Lake Champlain, and as someone who LOVES being near large bodies of water and is a serious stickler for a scenic view, I immediately knew I had to experience it for myself. The post mentioned Local Motion, so about a month later, I decided to recreate the adventure, and I'm SO glad I did. Booking ahead was super easy. I really appreciated that the website included photos of the different bikes along with the information you actually need to make a decision. The pricing was phenomenal, so I felt good about booking before I even arrived. Once we got there, the energy was EVERYTHING. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They didn't just hand us bikes and send us on our way. They pulled out a map, walked us through the route, explained where we needed to go, and even gave us an idea of how long the ride would take. That was especially helpful because I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into! And let me tell you...I am NOT an avid or frequent bike rider. But somehow, I managed to ride a minimum of 18 MILES! I was honestly proud of myself. The trail itself is BEAUTIFUL. The signage was on point, the route was easy to follow, and there was so much to see along the way. Being able to ride through such a scenic area and eventually make my way toward Lake Champlain made the whole experience worth it. Now, let me keep it real: after about mile 9, my legs were not having it. So there is a ferry option in the area, although I don't know whether it was running during my visit. If you're considering using the ferry as part of your route, ASK ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU DEPART so you can plan accordingly. Because whew...I definitely could have used that ferry on the way back! One of the things I loved most was that Local Motion is right next to the trail, so everything felt incredibly convenient. No complicated logistics, no figuring out how to get to the starting point, it was just grab the bike and go. And THEN they took the experience up another notch with their recommendation for food afterward. We asked for a recommendation and were directed to Kismet Mediterranean Grill, a Turkish restaurant right across the way. I am generally NOT a big chicken eater, but the chicken I had there was easily a 20/10. I'm still thinking about it! Honestly, I only want chicken prepared that way now. So yes, Local Motion gave us a great bike rental, but they also gave us helpful guidance, a beautiful route, great local recommendations, and an experience that made the whole day memorable. I'm so happy we chose Local Motion for this adventure. If you're visiting Burlington and looking for a fun way to explore the area, get outside, see some beautiful scenery, and maybe challenge yourself a little, this is absolutely worth doing. And if you're like me and love a good scenic view, being near the water, and turning a regular day into an EXPERIENCE...book the bike. Local Motion, you helped make my birthday month pretty special. Thank you!

Fantastic experience renting conventional bikes here (3 hr for $27) when visiting in mid October…read morew/o a reservation. All day rentals for conventional bikes $40/day. E-bikes, kids bikes, trailer/tagalongs available as well. Staff was very friendly and patient with making sure bikes, helmets were correct size. Very convenient they are right by the bike/walking path. Rode to the Causeway and back, which took about 2.5 hours at a leisurely to moderate pace. Causeway was pretty windy, so we didn't spend much time at the end. Bike ferry was not running, as it was mid October. Views are great! Water refill at the store. Highly recommend renting from here.
