What an amazing find. The quiche was great, fresh and filling. Grilled cheese on house made bread with tomato chutney was supreme. Outdoor dining under the trees with a breeze to made this an idyllic meal. Anyone driving around east of Athens should plan to make the Little City Diner a stop. We will be back.

2 egg plate with sourdough toast and fruit cup

I came on a Saturday for brunch. There were plenty of parking spaces, which was nice. It was busy, but we managed to get seats as people eat pretty quick. The place is small yet cozy. We ordered at the counter and got our own drinks as it is a self-serve restaurant. I ordered the 2 egg plate with sourdough toast and fruit cup. It took us 20 minutes to get our food, which is understandable since they were busy. Regarding the food, the scrambled eggs were too overcooked and it was nothing special. The sourdough toast was very mild and not toasted enough. My friend ordered the scrambler with meats. It was also over cooked, but it did have a generous amount of meat. Overall, I had higher expectation for this place because of its high ratings. It seems that their biscuit and gravy and side of fried potatoes are their most popular dishes, so I recommend trying those out if you do plan on eating here.

The best Eggs Benedict on the planet. If you're near here between 8am and 11am Wednesday thru Friday, you owe it to yourself to experience the food. Highly re

Amazing Omelette: Brussels sprouts, tomatoes, spinach and gruyere cheese. The BEST herb potatoes you'll ever eat, and delicious biscuit.

This really is my favorite restaurant, hands down. I've eaten there many times and every time has been amazing. I've had multiple sandwiches and breakfasts and have zero complaints. Their specials are always on point and their baked goods and desserts tasty. Their house blend of coffee is my favorite around, and I've bought their beans from them from time to time as well. Everyone that works here have been amazing people. It's the ONLY restaurant around that I actually set my notifications to alert me when they post on Instagram or Facebook. Go now! You will not regret it!

We've eaten here enough times that it feels less like a restaurant visit and more like part of the tradition. Tonight I ordered the Blue Plate Special with hamburger steak smothered in grilled onions, collard greens, green beans, cornbread, and a big bowl of Brunswick stew. My unsweet tea stayed filled thanks to Rhonda, who was serving tables while also managing the restaurant. We learned that Hot Rod's started the evening with three servers scheduled. Business was slow, so one server was sent home. Naturally, that's when things picked up. Even so, Rhonda and the remaining server kept everything moving smoothly, and we never felt neglected during our visit. The Brunswick stew was excellent and gave us an unexpected opportunity for comparison. Earlier in the day we had Brunswick stew at Fresh Air Bar-B-Que. Hot Rod's version was chunkier, with larger pieces of meat, more noticeable vegetables, and a slight kick of spice. The Fresh Air version was smoother and more finely blended. Both were excellent, but they were definitely different styles. The hamburger steak was flavorful, the green beans and collard greens tasted like proper Southern vegetables, and when the Texas Pete hit the table there was only one thing to say: "My man, Texas Pete goes on the collards." Then came the surprise ending. We learned that peach cobbler was half price today. Unfortunately, they were out. Or so we thought. A fresh cobbler was still in the oven. For the next several minutes, the suspense reached maximum peach. Finally, the cobbler emerged from the kitchen and was served à la mode. The French gave it a classy name. The South perfected the application. Warm peaches, a buttery cobbler topping, and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream that immediately melted with a purpose made for the perfect ending to the meal. It was absolutely worth the wait. Hot Rod's continues to be one of our favorite stops in Social Circle, and after another great meal, I have no doubt we'll be back again the next time we're in town. That said, fight the traffic and construction weirdness and get your butt in here. I had the georgia peach French toast plate with eggs and bacon. Definitely the best French toast I've had in a long time. One (albeit minor) issue - they said they do "soft scrambled" eggs, but they came out pretty much regular. This is a common issue with pretty much every breakfast restaurant I go to, so no removal of a star. But I'd recommend you tell waitstaff that you don't do soft scrambled if you really don't. This place is inviting and warm, and the service was great.

They got a table ready for a party of 6 pretty quickly which was great! They have two dining areas inside and outside seating available. I ordered the peach french toast with potatoes, another person ordered the cinnamon roll to start and the a biscuit with gravy. My husband ordered the pulled pork bowl on grits and a side of fried chicken . The kids had french toast with fruit. My potatoes I can tell were from a bag and not fresh cut potatoes. They were tiny and probably what you can purchase at the grocery store, so they were crunch and hard to eat. The french toast didn't have the best taste, and the peaches seemed canned. Presentation was nice but I wouldn't order that again. My husband did not enjoy his pulled pork bowl either, he said it lacked a bit of flavor. The cinnamon roll was a little hard like it had been sitting for a bit. Now for the good, the fried chicken was some of the best chicken I had tasted so whatever is being done there keep it up! The biscuits with the jam available on the table were amazing! The kids enjoyed their kids meal as well. If in Athens again we would definitely get the chicken and biscuit but skip the other items we previously ordered.
