Hey we've been here a few times since my previous review. This is still hitting on four stars with five potential. We stopped in for brunch this week and I had my go to biscuit and gravy. This is great. Also had some good eggs and sausage on the side. Megan had a biscuit with black eyed pea gravy that was on the specials. Neither of us liked it much, it was dry and could have used some more flavor. Little City is a little out of the way but it is good, they appear to actual cook here and not just reheat some stuff, and the people are cool. I definitely will hit this every once every 6-8 weeks when in the area. I just wish they would do a better job promoting the specials, then I might come here more often! read more

Nice casual restaurant with country vibe. Breakfast with friends and everyone seemed happy with their choices. The special omelet of the day with asparagus, bacon and cheese was tasty. Their biscuits are large and the grits are good. Fruit cup was fresh. Coffee is good. Also has a pastry case for take out or eat in. Daily specials on a blackboard. Service was pleasant, courteous, and food was delivered surprisingly quick for a group. Order and pay at the counter -food is brought out to you and then table service. Location -just 5 miles outside Athens in Winterville. Easy drive. Facility : intentionally slightly rustic Single room, with some outside tables also (uncovered, in the sun and facing the road) Plenty of room between tables inside and outside. Forgot to 'Turn Off' Doordash Ordered pickup through Doordash. Arrove to find another individual waiting and we stood for a minute until a man came out. At first, he (store owner) apologized kindly as the store was closed. When we stood there a moment, both just processing 'what now?', he very quickly became upset and essentially ran us out of the store. It was a though we were stray dogs that'd wandered inside. We were told to go, shooed towards the door, and followed out. Outside the door, I could hear the call he immediately made, cursing and yelling at someone to get rid of Doordash. I'm appaled at the storeowner's treatment of us as a nuisance, regardless of any understandable frustration with the Doordash mistake. During or after hours... this is bad business. My business will go elsewhere. read more

They food here is nothing special but great if you want just your breakfast basics. You order at the counter and the staff is friendly. They have an outdoor seating area that is nice and the inside is cozy country style decor. I really like their cookies and baked goods definitely give them a try if you visit. read more

I always think it is a good idea to have employees greet customers when they walk into a business or at least walk over to the bakery case and acknowledge your existence. As this was our first time here since the pandemic, we were curious as to the protocol. Everyone has bad days but the cashier needs some training on customer service. Gravy and biscuits were satisfying. Quiche was dry unfortunately. This location beats going into Athens and there seemed to be a decent crowd for a Saturday morning. What an amazing find. The quiche was great, fresh and filling. Grilled cheese on house made bread with tomato chutney was supreme. Outdoor dining under the trees with a breeze to made this an idyllic meal. Anyone driving around east of Athens should plan to make the Little City Diner a stop. We will be back. read more

I came on a Saturday for brunch. There were plenty of parking spaces, which was nice. It was busy, but we managed to get seats as people eat pretty quick. The place is small yet cozy. We ordered at the counter and got our own drinks as it is a self-serve restaurant. I ordered the 2 egg plate with sourdough toast and fruit cup. It took us 20 minutes to get our food, which is understandable since they were busy. Regarding the food, the scrambled eggs were too overcooked and it was nothing special. The sourdough toast was very mild and not toasted enough. My friend ordered the scrambler with meats. It was also over cooked, but it did have a generous amount of meat. Overall, I had higher expectation for this place because of its high ratings. It seems that their biscuit and gravy and side of fried potatoes are their most popular dishes, so I recommend trying those out if you do plan on eating here. read more

I stepped into Little City Diner today not knowing what I might be able to enjoy due to allergies (no vegetable and seed oils, no gluten and no added sugar). It is difficult for me to find a safe meal anywhere, but when I approached the counter, the staff did everything they could to put my mind at ease, and I got a personal one on one consultation with Chef Marlena, where we reviewed the menu and she personally let me know my options and creatively made a meal safe for me to eat. It was incredibly good, and I was so fortunate that she was there that day. I appreciated the time and the care the entire staff took to make sure I had what I needed. Bombdiggity Breakfast I am very picky when it comes to my breakfast scramble because I like my vegetables crisp but not raw and I like the flavors to meld before the eggs and cheese are added. Weird? Maybe... However, this place knocked it out of the park. I chose the Smokehouse scramble which is a perfect blend of ham, bacon, peppers, onions, cheese, and eggs. It is served with your choice of herbed potatoes or red mule grits. I chose the grits. Now, I am from the north and grits are tricky for me but these were amazing. I've had a burger as well and the meat had no flavor whatsoever. It's about the only thing in Winterville so I think it gets more praise than it actually deserves for that reason. This really is my favorite restaurant, hands down. I've eaten there many times and every time has been amazing. I've had multiple sandwiches and breakfasts and have zero complaints. Their specials are always on point and their baked goods and desserts tasty. Their house blend of coffee is my favorite around, and I've bought their beans from them from time to time as well. Everyone that works here have been amazing people. It's the ONLY restaurant around that I actually set my notifications to alert me when they post on Instagram or Facebook. Go now! I loved this sweet little addition to my tiny hometown! Winterville is so small but this precious diner adds SO much personality to it! The food was not that bad but for the price tag it was definitely not worth it, who ever they have answering the phones always sounds like they have the worst attitude and should definitely not be doing the phones. In my opinion there are a lot better sandwich shops in Athens for the price tag. You pay $9 for a sandwich with no side or drink. Sadly if you do decide to get a side and drink you are looking at a $16 very basic lunch sandwich. read more

My family's favorite breakfast place. We come here almost every Saturday. The biscuits are great. Load them up with egg and sausage and you'll get hooked. Chocolate chip pancakes are one of a kind. The Little City Diner is brought to you by the folks who brought the Big City Bread Cafe to Athens. Big City Bread has been around for years and is highly regarded in Athens as a breakfast/brunch and lunch spot. But even though I'm an Athens native, I've never been there. So I came to Little City Diner with few preconceptions other than its parent's big reputation. Little City's ambitions seem quite little: It's basically a small-town, down-home diner that seeks to differentiate itself by using all-fresh ingredients and charging somewhat high prices accordingly (an omelette plate plus coffee will set you back 11 or 12 dollars). Only a couple of items on the menu, like "soysage," suggest the presence of a big state U a few miles away. Was the food special? Not really. It was pretty good, and it was very competently cooked, and it was indeed fresher tasting than what you'd get at a typical greasy spoon. But it lacked pop. Decor is more or less shabby chic. And you have to go to the counter to order and pick up your drink, although a server will bring your food out. My overall impression is that the Little City Diner is a very nice addition to little Winterville. But I'm not sure it's worth the six-or-eight-mile "road trip" from big Athens. read more

I had a pretty good fried eggplant sandwich and a cup of a locally roasted coffee. If you have multiples on your party, just be prepared for your dishes to come out a different times. read more

We love this place! It's a great little breakfast spot. The omlettes and scrambles are delicious! The biscuits are toasted and melt in your mouth. Their home fries are crispy and incredible! Their ingredients are local and very fresh. The service is always great. I was, however, extremely disappointed that they stopped serving pancakes on the weekend - wtw?!? The apple wood smoke bacon pancake is why we come there so often. I still don't understand why you would only serve pancakes during the week - we work during the week. Pancake days are Saturdays and Sundays... when we don't work... because that's how pancakes work. Think about it. read more
