They also do the best lomo saltado I've had outside of Lima, and the chupe de pescado is rich, comforting, and full of depth. This place is a classic for a reason. The place was packed I thought there was no way I'd get a table. To my surprise, they sat me with two ladies who were super friendly and, as they joked, "adopted" me for the night. Turns out there was a soccer game on, and after I finished eating they invited me to stay and watch. I'm glad I did. The entire staff was incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming. By the end of the match we were all laughing, talking, having a couple drinks, and it honestly felt like I had walked into a family gathering instead of a restaurant. And the food? The dining room was very clean and could seat about 24. Our server, Alex(andra), was extremely friendly, talkative, and vivacious. We ordered two lunch specials from the executive menu (Menu Ejecutivo) at $13.99 each. The Pollo Saltado with well-cooked onions and the Chaufa de carne (beef fried rice). Both lunches came with a side, and we each chose the house soup. The soup was chicken with rice and what seemed like some veggies. The flavor was incredibly delicious with a limey taste. The chicken dish was good but needed a bit more cilantro. However my onions were cooked just right producing a nice caramelly texture. Even though it was a smidgen salty, the fried rice was the perfect texture. There also is a daily special from Mondays through Thursdays. Both specials are available from 11:30 am to 3:30 p.m. I think we may be back on Thursday just for the Seco de Pollo (chicken stew). Two lunches, two sodas, tax, and tip was about $42.
