This was my first time coming here, however I have had their Garlic Naan several times because DH brings them home to me on occasion. Which was good for me to try and see if the salt in it affects me and it didn't. Needless to say it very delicious and addicting!! We both ordered the same items for lunch, the Naan (of course) and the Vegetable Samosas! They too were delicious and low sodium and vegetarian! The sauce that came with them was amazing! The owner was very helpful because my body also reacts to Hot Pepper spice. This is not only a restaurant, deli like, it's also a store carrying Asian items that aren't found in Central Vermont! Great place for take out. Naan is great, mango lassi, samosas, any Saag dish, all delicious. Typically ready within 15-20 minutes. Small dining area if you do prefer to eat there, I have only gotten To Go. read more

My fiance and I have eaten here before with no complaints and generally good food and good service. We ordered food on a friday for dinner and my partner spent the whole day on saturday throwing up and unable to keep any food down. It was so bad we had to take her to the ER and have her given nausea medicine and IV fluids. I decided I'd call the business on Monday to let management know since it's a rare occurrence but happened anyways. The OWNER said it was my fiancé's fault for "not being able to digest it correctly" or that no one else complained and that it's her fault for having done something differently than everyone else. All I was looking for was a simple "i'm sorry I'll check into that for you" so I know that it would at least be looked into. The owner was abrasive and defensive and we will no longer be patronizing this business. read more

Very disappointed. Food was clearly reheated and stuffed into to-go boxes. Tiny portions at high prices. Quality of food was poor. Worst naan I've ever had. I order the spicy version of the chicken tikka masala. What I received had almost no heat whatsoever. read more

Try this place! I had the Aloo Matar lunch special for $9.99. Larger serving than I expected for a lunch special. Very good quality. I ordered spicy and it was just a tad less spicy than I like. To be expected in VT. I took home about 1/3 and they even gave me an additional serving of basmati rice. I ordered four veg samosas to take home. They were excellent. Their homemade mint sauce is to die for! Not spicy, but still a flavor explosion! I've had better Indian food, but what I had was very good. Value is five star. By far the best Indian food I've had in VT at a reasonable price. Service was good. Ambience is zero. I don't care about either, just food quality. read more

The food is always top-notch, but the customer service is hit or miss depending on the person you get. The ambiance fits well for sunny days as they have a nice patio. I have a big group of kids, so I typically opt for takeout. In my personal opinion, I prefer to eat in the car because of how active my kids are. Great food; my personal favorites are Pakora and Samosa. They're mostly potato. I have been very blessed and spoiled living in California with Samosas filled with curry, peas, and potatoes. I just ordered delivery from this location and most all the food ordered was terrible. The lamb samosa was the only decent item. They messed up garlic naan in that it there was no garlic and it was flat bread - not naan. The bake itself was way off. The butter chicken I don't think had butter and was not sweet at all - too much cinnamon or some similar spice. The briani rice tasted like it was washed with soap as well. Was in Rutland for a show at the Paramount theater, a place I will definitely go back to. The "popular" restaurants were all booked and busy and we wanted to eat shortly before the show. This Indian restaurant had very few, but good, reviews. A little confused arriving. It is a small Indian grocery/convenience store with a counter for Indian food. Wasn't sure it was a sit down restaurant. The counter person/clerk/server did let us know that we could "eat-in" and did seat us and bring menus. The naan, butter chicken, saag paneer...all very good. Excellent flavors, not a lot of the proteins in the sauce, but the entrees were all under $14 i believe. We were the only ones eating on a Friday night at 6:30 until another couple came in shortly after. Suggestions for the restaurant would be to market, probably on social media. Dress up the dining area a little to make it more comfortable. I would definitely eat there again, especially now knowing what to expect. Again, not a restaurant for everyone. I hope they make some changes and get themselves busy because the food was very good! read more

The absolute best Indian south of Middlebury or north of Williamstown. Still a solid 3 stars on a regional basis. Entrees lacked a depth and complexity of spice and flavor. Vindaloo is not Goa inspired. Food is good but not inspired. As an entrepreneur I admire the simplicity of the menu and diversity of revenue stream - and if it supports the business model, the God bless them. Whatever it takes to support Indian food in Rutland. But, the very best Indian food in Rutland should still aspire to be the very best Indian food in Vermont (low bar) and to be a proud regional offering. The food was really not what we expected. The garlic naan and plain naan both are $2.99 we went for garlic naan, which we expected to be same what we get in regular Indian restaurants but what I found is that these are most probably frozen naans which were wrapped individually in the plastic wrap sheet, I quickly asked the lady in the front why are these cold since she made us wait 30 mins for the food we ordered, she said they make all naans at 4pm. Naans are always made fresh in most Indian restaurants. We took Matter Paneer, Chana Masala and Malai Kofta. All the three dishes tasted same, it was only tomato puree with added Green Peas, Cottage Cheese and Chickpeas. After paying $70 you expect good food. I asked the lady if I can get some cut onions and chillies which we usually get at an Indian restaurant to which she told me that they do not have any chillies or onions since they bring frozen onions only . The dishes selected samosas, lamb biryani, chicken vindaloo, dahl, jamoons and especially good garlic naan were very good and the heat level was accurate as ordered. I was disappointed that the only chutney they have is the tamarind which comes with the samosas. They definitely would step up their game with red, green chutneys and a couple yogurt based sauces. Overall the dishes ordered were enough for 5 persons and most fairly priced at around $65. Great value and they have lunch specials every weekday too. read more

I am indian, my boyfriend is white and from rutland and I've been craving Indian food for a while when I saw that this place exists. Just ate it and was so happy by how yummy and delicious it is. Rutland needed not just ethnic food but GOOD ETHNIC food!! Wow wow wow highly recommend everyone give this place a try. The place also has a lot of beer and wine. My only thing for their improvement is the portions could be bigger but that's always my complaint for every Indian restaurant read more

Its okay. We've only had it once and we would try it again. They served the food in cool to go containers which made it easy to eat to go.

The food is really good based on the fact it's the only place to get Indian food within at least a 30 mile radius. But the portions are ridiculously small. I got the chicken tikka Marsala and it had literally 4 small chunks of chicken in it. For $11 I would expect more. I also got the Malai Kofta for $11 as well and I got 3 little one inch logs. The pakora was barely warm and was soggy at best-- again, tasted like they warmed it up in a microwave. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but never again. Gross and rude, I do not recommend. read more
