Delicious food, prompt service and a beautiful outdoor dining room... we hadn't been in this area for two years but I wanted to come back to Yama. I had the Thai peanut salad again, yum, with the chicken Bao bun. No photos of the Bao hun because we ate them that quickly! My family also had the coco curry Raman and the traditional Tonkotdu. Yama Ramen in Killington, Vermont is a decent ramen spot (probably only) if you're craving ramen. Presentation was great, but that was it. The broth was not that flavorful, the noodles were pretty generic, and the soft boiled egg, was just a soft boiled egg. Not marinated. The slice of chashu belly was spot on. Honestly, other than the chashu and it's about a step up from the packaged ramen at a grocery store and or cup of noodles from college. The demographic of the area suits the people they attract, which made sense as the menu was more like a "Asian restaurant" that just happen to serve Ramen. The place had an identity crisis as menu had all other countries like Vietnamese Sandwiches, Chinese Bao, and Thai inspired appetizers... but again, the people there wouldn't know the difference, so the location is perfect. The seating can get pretty cramped, as traditional ramen seating: people would eat, finish, and leave. I observed a lot of people still sitting and chatting after finishing their meal. Unfortunately we had to sit in another room just to enjoy the meal right by the entrance and even after we finished, the table was still fully occupied. You would think from a business standpoint, the restaurant would be more efficient so they can bring in more customers. read more

The ramen is delicious and bone-warming, exactly what we needed after a cold day on the mountain. We split an order of bao buns before our ramen and they were delicious and just the right size for four of us to share as an appetizer. The restaurant is small, and most seating is counter seating around the perimeter of the room. There is a large high top in the middle of the room that seats about 8, either in use by a single large group or communally. My kids would have preferred a table for four, but this place is very in-and-out dining so the seating arrangements were fine. read more

We love it here! We are local for a good part of the year and also have traveled / eaten our way throughout the US... this is really good ramen. You can customize your options with pork broth + tofu; there are also purely vegan / vegetarian options to choose from also. Service is great - you place your order at the register and then get your number and bring it to one of the ~20+ or so seats they have for dine in. Edamame is fresh and well seasoned. Not only is the ramen delicious, the edamame is too. We had both spicy and regular tonkatsu- both were amazing. When there was a small issue with our pick up order- they went out of their way to fix it. Our new fave place for our ski trips! We love it! read more

I absolutely love ramen. Now that that's out of the way let me start by saying Yama Ramen is fantastic! As a travel nurse I'm blessed to get to explore the country and indulge in all varieties of amazing food but good ramen is and always will be my favorite. When coming to Vermont didn't expect to find a great ramen spot. The staff is awesome and always super friendly. I usually start out with the gang gang shrimp and an order of their bao buns. The shrimp is super crunchy with the perfect amount of spice. I normally learn towards pork bao buns but holy crap the chicken is the way to go. Perfectly seasoned super crunchy prince of fried chicken with cucumber and a some spicy sauce. Perfection. The Tonkonsu ramen is my go to here. Delicious broth with roasted corn, wood ear mushrooms egg and a hearty piece of pork. Delicious. I recommend getting an additional order of ramen noodles because with the shrimp and boa you'll definitely have enough for a left over meal. Thanks for all the great food. read more

The food at Yama ramen is excellent! Went with 4 other people and everyone really enjoyed their food, however, the queue was a big mess. I get it, it's so close to Killington and who doesn't want ramen after a long day on the mountain but I do think there could be improvements such as offering menus outside of the main dining area so people could be prepared to order their food and thereby reduce the overall wait. I also feel that the seating arrangement was kind of a mess. It's counter service so you just have to hope and pray there's a spot for you to sit and eat. I noticed so many patrons were just sitting on their phones for long periods of time after finishing their food- something kind of unfair where there were literally so many people waiting for tables. And to be honest- ramen REALLY needs to be eaten at a table. I think with some thoughtful redesign of the space to accommodate more patrons (who are there because the food rocks!) it would be a place I'd visit again. But I wouldn't recommend it just because of the headache to find a seat, unless you have a good back up plan to take your food to go. read more

What a killington hidden gem! So happy they recently opened here. Very chill vibe. There are no formal tables. It's tables against the walls, one high top to seat 6 or 8, and then a couch area to seat a bunch. We got: Gang gang shrimp Chicken bao Mushroom bao Thai peanut salad Furikake Fries special Tonkotsu ramen Everything was delicious!! Ramen was so comforting and warm on a winter vt day. Thai peanut salad was heavy on the dressing but loved it. We also got a fiddlehead beer and a glass of Cabernet. For $6, it was a really good glass of cab in my opinion. Food was incredibly tasty. Been coming to Killington for years, and have just about tried every place on the access road. Ramen Yamen is the best new addition town with top notch ramen. We are snobby nyc foodies and are very critical. Please take this review serious and eat at Rama Yamen. It's casual but that should not be confused with low quality. It's of the highest quality!!! A ramen place at the base of Killington Ski Area. Lol. Who knew?! And why not?! Yama Ramen is located in what appears to be a lodge or small wooden apartment complex. The building is rather old, funky, and weather beaten... but has a certain charm. Everything does not have to be new! There is an outside patio area that overlooks the valley. I can only imagine that years ago this was a Swiss Fondue restaurant of some kind and skiers enjoyed their melted cheese and wine overlooking Killington and Sugarbush. Now hikers, leaf peepers, and skiers can enjoy their spring rolls and ramen...and SAKE! while viewing the mountain scene. The food is very good. Besides ramen there are some Vietnamese and Thai menu items...though ramen is the main thing here. The spring rolls that I had were big and fresh. The Ramen was tasty. The service - mostly a to go and seat yourself kind of place - was friendly and fast. read more

I think I just found my Happy Place at Killington!!! As a ramen addict, I approve this place! It's casual dinning where you order at the window, receive a table stand, and server come out and deliver the food to you. Definitely setup for quick meal. Complementary water and tea stations in the restaurant, they also offer bottled sake, wine, and beer. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the steep price. $20+ for a bowl of ramen, $10+ for 2 small bao buns makes this place a bit dangerous. With that said, I'll be coming back here for sure! We had a quick dinner here last night and ordered miso ramen, tonkotsu ramen (pork broth), and cashew pork bao (hubby claimed it was the BEST thing he has eaten on this entire trip). Everything was delicious and I wish the portions were bigger! I could probably eat 2 bowls myself. Awesome addition to the already nice restaurants in Killington area. Another must try! Quick trivia, 'Yama' means 'mountain' in Japanese, so "mountain ramen" is appropriately named for this place. read more

Cafeteria style joint, the ramen was actually pretty good. More expensive than other places at home, but to be expected so close to the mountain. Definitely hits the spot after a day of skiing and would recommend when you want a hot meal. Honestly, just taking off a star because one of the guys there made a rude comment to my friend while we were paying. After we started to eat we overheard another rude comment made to the customer after us. Just unexpected, didn't impact the food and I don't think it was intentional (I think he was trying to be funny) just kind of left a weird first impression on me. read more

Our waiter was super attentive and even though it took some time for the food to come out, I think given the quality of everything we ate, it was worth it. I got the raspberry mint mojito cocktail which was delicious and I pinched a sip or two of kid's lemonade made from fresh lemons, perfect level of sweetness. We tried the sweet potato pakoras and lumpia and the trio of house made dips (we liked the green mint-e one best). Everything was tasty, including the sauces that came up with them. Our kids shared the ramen which they split into two large bowls that didn't even look like a split dish given how much it was. My wife got the spare ribs which melted off the bones and had great flavor. The scallop dish I ordered came with six scallops that were a good size and also came with some gnocci, a delicious and unique sauce, and an unusual lobster with veggie type of ceviche salad accoutrement. I have the sense that the menu changes regularly here. The chef/owner came out and greeted us after the meal to ask how everything was and we could honestly respond that it was our best meal of the week. Subsequently we tried to sample many items from their desert menu and again Bastard did not disappoint. Surprisingly the "S'Mores," a more adult take on the kid's classic, was one of our favorites. Given the unique take on a variety of globally inspired dishes and great attention to detail, I would love to try Bastard again the next time I'm in the area.

I recently had the chance to try a new ramen restaurant in Vermont called "Yama Ramen." To be honest, I wasn't expecting much since Vermont isn't exactly known for its Asian cuisine. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the ramen at Yama Ramen. The broth was rich and flavorful, with a depth of taste that I haven't often found in other ramen restaurants. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the toppings - including perfectly seasoned pork and a perfectly cooked egg - were all top-notch. In addition to the delicious food, the atmosphere at Yama Ramen was also great. It's a small, intimate restaurant with a cozy and welcoming vibe. The service was also excellent - the staff were friendly and attentive, and made sure that we had everything we needed. Overall, I was extremely impressed by the quality of the ramen at Yama Ramen.
