This was my first time here there and it made a great first impression! We were seated pretty fast, and order the dinner for two which was the perfect amount for two hungry people. All the staff were super nice, and the food came relatively quick. The veggie pakora was super crispy on the outside and it came was a sauce that complimented it perfectly. Shortly after we finished that, everything else came. The chicken tikka was moist and flavourful and the chickpea curry was great but my fav was the butter chicken. The sauce was so good which paired so well with everything, especially the rice and naan. Since it was our first, the owner (I think) offered a dessert on the house but we were so full that we had to decline. I'll definitely be coming back. Went here with a friend to try the lunch special. We both got the non veg combo 2 which had 1 vegetarian app, 1 vegetarian dish, 1 chicken dish, rice, naan and dessert. I really enjoyed the variety of the food given the price where you can try 2 mains but in smaller portions. We both found our chicken dishes good, I was a fan of the dal makhani. The sweet sauce on top of the samosa was tasty as well. Service was good too, they were busy during lunch but still welcomed everyone coming in. Decor was very cozy! read more

No buttery flavor, barely any spices, and just super off overall. The palak paneer wasn't much better; just a few tiny cubes of paneer in a thin, overly puréed spinach. And the portions? Mostly naan, barely any curry. I've had free gurdwara meals that gave me more food and way better flavor. This cost me $21 before tip. Not worth it at all. Everyone who works there is so kind and attentive- food is made quickly and always packed nicely for takeout. Little India is home to the best butter chicken in Toronto. You are able to customize the spice level ranging from no spice to VERY spicy. Came here with my best friend and had the opportunity to try their vegetarian thali and it did not disappoint! It came with a small salad, palak paneer (spinach and cottage cheese), bhartha (eggplant), raita (yogurt), mango achar (mango pickle), naan and their rice. I cannot explain how amazing every dish was. It was so flavourful and all so delicious. My favourites were chana masala and the palek paneer. We got the naan instead of the roti which was a good choice. The naan and rice was still so warm and good. I enjoyed scooping the curries with the naan and dipping it into the raita. Everything was so balanced and heart warming. The dessert was gulab jamun and it tasted like a delicious warm, soft and fluffy timbit in this very sweet rose flavoured simple syrup. The vibes were dark and cozy. The servers were also really nice and accommodating. Honestly, Little India exceeded my expectations. This is the second time I've come here, and both times I've gotten the non-veg combo for two (shared with my boyfriend). If I recall correctly the menu items for this combo used to be different, but right now they include onion bhaji, a tikka platter with chicken and paneer, channa masala, butter chicken, rice and naan. For $45 the value is quite good as it is a LOT of food, possibly even enough for 3 people. The onion bhaji was freshly fried and crisp, and it came with tamarind sauce which was a good pairing to cut through any greasiness. The tikka platter came out searing, and the pieces of chicken and paneer were very generous. I actually preferred the paneer over the chicken as it was really rich and paired nicely when I mixed it with some of the curry. The channa masala (chickpea curry) was spiced really nicely and was quite delicious. The butter chicken was just okay, a little too sweet for my preference. The combo was a ton of food and we left feeling very satisfied. I see they have a lot of great lunch discounts, which I would love to try if I ever stop by during the day. After sitting in our seats for a while, we found that all the other customers were Indian. I thought the flavour should be authentic. We wandered in because of the brag in the window about a 'best butter chicken in Toronto' prize. And of course we had to have the butter chicken, which really was one of the best we've ever had anywhere! Congratulations Toronto. But that wasn't all by far, the lamb rogosh was equally delicious, the fresh nan was positively dripping in real butter, everything about this meal was just great. This review is for a takeout order at Little India. We ordered a few curries, biryani, rice and naan. The curries were intensely flavourful and heavy with herbs and spices, and they provide a generous portion at this price point. I would definitely recommend the eggplant curry especially if you are adhering to any dietary restrictions. The shrimp biryani was good too but pales in comparison with the curries. The dish had quite a bit of spices, but the shrimps did not feel adequately incorporated into the biryani - it wasn't a shrimp biryani but more of a biryani with shrimp tossed in. I would also note that while the flavour was good, the food was definitely spicier than expected even though we ordered mild. read more

I had take-out. The food was outstanding as this is the best Bhindi Masala I have had in the city. They have Baigan Bharta on the menu but the wait staff recommended the Bhindi. Outstanding!!! Let me be the first to say that Little India did not disappoint at all. For starters the associate that I spoke with over the phone was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. I was able to get the Chana masala and a order of vegetable samosa. The portion sizes are humongous like the samosa was very large. My best friend decided on the buttered chicken which she really enjoyed. She did share that she felt it had more of a sweet taste to her surprise. For me, this restaurant is a staple on Queen St. In the summertime, sometimes you can smell the enticing spices as you walk by. For two individuals, we ordered the special dinner for one (as advertised outside), saag paneer, aloo paratha. This was more than enough food and variety for us. The dinner for one consisted of butter chicken, veggie pakoras (3), tea (chai or black tea), chicken tikka, a curry cauliflower and potato dish,naan, and a gulub jamun (classic sweet milk powder dessert). I have read mixed reviews on the butter chicken, but I have always enjoyed it, although it slightly is on the sweeter side. For one, it costs $26.95. The meal also can be ordered for 2 for about $45. This dinner combo isn't advertised on the menu, but is advertised on the outside menu. In comparison to the combo meat platter for one as listed on the menu, this one has more veggies and variety, in comparison to the very meaty choice on the menu. It is slightly spicy, so if you can't handle mild spicy, I wouldn't choose this combo. We opted for the dinner one one because I was craving paneer. We ordered saag paneer, which is cottage cheese and a lot of spinach. Included in the combo for one was two pieces of soft naan. We initially thought it wouldn't be enough, and ordered an additional aloo paratha, which is a heavy bread/pita mixed with curried potatoes. Overall, for Indian in Downtown Toronto, the cost is reasonable and the food is delicious. If you compare it to Indian elsewhere away from the Downtown core, it is pricier. To get more bang for you buck, my friend said when ordering take out, you can get bigger portions! read more

I went here for lunch with my friend who has never tried Indian food. We wanted to try their buffet but they have not started doing that because of Covid. We got the chicken pakoras and margaritas for appetizer and drinks. The chicken pakoras were not my favourite as they were basically just fried pieces of chicken and didn't feel like actual pakoras. The margaritas on the other hand were pretty delicious For mains, we got the meat combo for two which had Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer, Naan, Rice and a kebab platter with four different types of kebabs. Our server asked if we wanted our butter chicken sweet or spicy and we decided to go for the sweet one as my friend is not a big fan of spicy food. Even though I am a spicy butter chicken person, I loved the sweet one with naan- the curry was really creamy and delicious and the naans were fresh. Palak Paneer was delicious as well but my friend and I were too invested in the Butter Chicken!! The Kebab Platter on the other hand was not my favourite. Great flavors from start to finish (and the rice!) We wondered into Little India on a recent trip to Toronto. We were hungry, so we ordered the mixed dinner for two. It started with a super-tasty veg. pakora. The filling was perfectly soft and flavorsome, and the batter was light and so fragrant, with so many flavors. Then came the main dishes and the rice. On a sizzling platter were two large (thick) wedges of paneer masala (the cheese with a layer of spices running through the middle of it. some tandoori chicken, and some chicken tika. That was served with plain naan. Everything was great, each item was uniquely flavored, and nicely spiced, but not especially spicy-hot (we were not left want for more, and we do like spice). And then they delivered a chana masala and their signature butter chicken. OMG both again were so good. The butter chicken is on the sweet side, and I know some don't love that, but we loved it because it was just perfect. OK, so now comes the rant that gets this place 5-stars. They have the most incredibly nicely cooked and spiced rice I have had in a looong time. (Oh no, here he goes about the rice again). Seriously, I can almost always tell how much I'm going to like an Indian restaurant by just tasting their rice. Of all we ate in Toronto, that rice was at the top of the list when we left. It's that good. The services was also good, and quite pleasant, which is always nice, and the prices are very reasonable for their location and the quality of what you get. If you get the dinner for two you will most certainly be stuffed (there's a veg. versions also). But I predict you will also be very happy, as we were. I love the aromas wafting on Queen W by Little India, it always makes me hungry. I've sillily never been to their buffet, but last week my family brought their buffet to us. Social distancing mutters. Was that a mutter paneer pun about quarantining? I think so. I, like many, am getting a little weird in isolation. ;) We had mutter paneer, samosas (comes with a metal bag with a few mild potato based goodies inside, perfect for kiddos!), chicken tandoori, rice and naan. The food can be a bit spicy but the spice doesn't overpower the flavour. We got a variety of dishes and shared all of them. They were all delicious, my favourite being the Paneer Tikka Masalla. This is probably my go to place when it comes to a quick Indian cuisine pick me up. Came here with my friend because we were both craving Indian food and couldn't stop talking about Indian food all day! It was the perfect fit with our criteria because we wanted something quick and filling but also close to campus. The service 5 stars and the food was amazing and it was pretty authentic. The main waiter seemed preoccupied with other things, perhaps with carry out orders. It wasn't awful, just not special in any way. My chicken vindaloo was just OK. I ordered this dish for comparison sake with many other Indian restaurants since I get it somewhat frequently. I didn't care for this one.
