Maya and her husband have truly reinvented this place. We first tried it three years ago under different ownership and the improvement under this new management is amazing. The food is phenomenal without being too spicy if you ask for a milder version. The menu has tons of vegetarian and vegan options but my personal favorites are the mango chicken, madras chicken and the biryani. The mango lassi and gulab jamun are classics but the menu is varied enough so that the adventurous foodie can explore many new items. I don't eat dairy and the chef was careful to make me things that had no cream or butter in them. The prices are very reasonable for the location and this is truly a family owned small business that does Indian food just right! read more

Wow. What a hidden gem. I have ordered twice in the last month or so and it has been consistently delicious. Paneer Butter Masala. The side of rice that came with my meal was fluffy and delicious. We ordered take out from Little India on a cold winter day looking for something to heat us up. The phone service was nice, efficient, yet patient when we asked questions. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, medium spice, which was spicier than I expected. It was okay, not the best I've had and didn't contain very much flavor. My boyfriend had the Lamb Vindaloo, which he thought was very flavorful and loved the spice level. All-in-all my favorite part of the meal was the Garlic Naan and dipping sauces. It definitely satisfied my craving for a warm, comforting meal. But I don't think I'd go out of my way to order from here again. read more

What a gem! Saw the store front and decided to try it out. Went late, so restaurant was empty, but WOW the food was amazing! Chicken tikka masala and Butter Chicken were on POINT. Had dinner here tonight with my wife. The Vegetable platter appetizer was fantastic with a nice variety of Pakoras. The Butter Chicken was velvety smooth with the right amount of spice and tomato flavor. The Fish Masala was cooked perfectly and fell apart in the mouth. The basmati rice, the perfect platform to soak up excess sauce. Lastly, the Kheer (rice pudding) was the perfect ending to an excellent meal. The service was fast and friendly. I had a gift certificate for months if not couple of years. My daughter and I finally decided to try this place. We love Indian food and eat it quite often, so I had my expectations. The interior is very 80's but honestly it doesn't matter to me. Food is what I want, good food. The woman at the front counter was very nice and attentive. We ordered vegetable and meat samosa of the appetizer menu and they tasted ok, but the pastry was bit too oily. Main course I had the typical chicken tikka Masala and I must say in my 30 years of eating Indian food this was the first time I had one taste this way. I ate but didn't enjoy it, and half way through I lost interest in my food. My daughter said her dish was good-chicken vindaloo, I had a fork full but again felt dish was not very exciting. I feel bad, I want them to do well as this area needs an Indian restaurant. Perhaps the owners can cook smaller amounts but serve fresh exciting cuisine. They need to visit a good place in NYC and speak with owners ask for advise/help to bring this place back. I don't care for the look of the place if food is good but perhaps they can brighten this place up. Remove the dated wallpaper border, paint a nice fresh color, remove the tired tablecloth and use traditional Indian cloth instead under the glass, or nothing at all. Good Luck! The food was delicious, we ordered a few different things as a family to share; the bread basket, Tikka Masala, Melagu Chettinad Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Aloo Gobi, and Andhra Chicken. Everyone shared and enjoyed everything, especially including the well prepared rice that cane along. Portions are plenty big enough to even have some leftovers for the week. What a pleasant surprise this little restaurant turned out to be!!! I had the luncheon buffet which had a limited selection of items compared to other area places but boy howdy was there a noticeable difference in quality. The chutneys were excellent even the Achar, which is something I usually don't care for, was quite good. I was taken by the very complex and subtle flavors which characterized and distinguished each and every dish on the buffet line. The owner is Punjabi so many of the dishes are cooked in that traditional Northern style which I found absolutely downright delicious!!! The paneer as well as the gulab jamun and Kheer desserts are all fresh as can be and made in house. My son and I had dinner here a few months ago and it was a very enjoyable experience. We ordered take-out tonight and the food was just as good as we remembered. We started with a cup of the mullugatwany soup ($3.95), it had a nice base of pureed lentils with some small chunks of veggies. I give this a B+. Next we had an order of Chicken Wings kalmi kabab ($5.95) advertised as "Indian style buffalo wings". To me, this was the weak link of the night. The quantity was good They gave you 8 decent sized wings. The "zip" factor was very good - a nice steady slow burn but not overwhelming. But the wings themselves? Just weren't good. The skins had a weird consistency- certainly not crisp or crunchy, Just kind of blah- like boiled chicken skin. We also had some garlic naan ($3.95) (pretty average). Our order included some freebie pakora that was a nice touch. The clear winner in our take-out bag was an order of MIxed Vindaloo ($14.95). Wow- was that good- a very flavorful and spicy sauce containing chunks of potato, chicken, lamb and shrimp. Served with a nice supply of rice, this was a real feast, although the shrimp were just a teense dried out. All in all, we have had two very good experiences here. I love Little India. It's a great place to go to for late night dining, that isn't a Diner- which is about the only thing opened past typical dinner hours around these parts of CT. You should be made aware of the service, it isn't bad! But it is slow. The food comes out quick, and the servers (usually the husband & wife owners), they leave you be. Not a lot of pampering in between bites, on slow, less busy nights. I've been here so many times, I've lost count. I drive 40 mins away for this restaurant, and I've never been displeased; Best Indian food I know of around here. I love their chicken and curry- its in tomato sauce. The male owner gets tickled when you ask your plate to be authentically spicy! One night he brought out free naan bread, for the hell of it. Another night, the wife made some rice pudding and insisted on us having it at the end of our meal! Very laid back and sweet couple. Great food, great proportions (enough for two or lunch the next day!), with a clean and quiet atmosphere. Also, I believe they allow BYOB, can't go wrong with that ;) Little India is my favorite! Reasonable quality Indian food in a strip mall in Simsbury. We actually stumbled upon Little India while heading to Harvest bakery for some bread. I clicked yelps nearby button on my iphone and this popped up. Dan R's recent review helped seal the deal. We were there at lunch time, and they had the weekend buffet but it wasn't very busy. I looked and didn't see much I liked but the owner asked what I liked and added it to the buffet for me! The food was all very good, I had Mattar Paneer, Palak Paneer, Veg Korma, basmati rice, an assortment of pickle, pakoras, a nice bhel puri, naan, gulab jamun, rice pudding etc etc .. . It was a buffet, so it was just sitting there on the steam table and some places this could be bad - but overall, the food was fresh and hot. Spice level was good for a buffet - i feel sometimes they spice is toned down for general consumption, but the food here was all nice and spicy and delicious. Everyone that was working was very friendly and nice. The decor feels a bit like a flashback to the 80s, but we came for the food - not the velvet paintings. Favorite place for Indian food! Both the food and the service are outstanding. Every time we come here we are treated like family. My boyfriend always gets the tandoori mixed grill, and it is always tailored to his preference of no seafood. I try to get different dishes every time we go and l have found everything to be delicious, but the mixed vindaloo was a real standout! I got medium spicy which was perfect. Very happy to say portions are generous enough that not only did I eat more than my fill at dinner, I had leftovers for lunch the next day. For an app if you like soup I suggest you try the mulligatawny. This is a great place for either a group outing or a date. I frequent a few different Indian restaurants as Indian food is my favorite type of food. I just had my first meal ever at Little India and OMGosh it was amazing. The atmosphere is calming and relaxing and the food is incredible. We had just missed the cutoff time of 3 pm for the buffet and they still offered us the buffet which we opted not to eat. The lady who served us was very nice. She even gave us some vegetable pakora from the buffet for free! Although the vegetable pakora was not hot anymore it was delicious!! It was an explosion of Indian flavors and spices that was so good, words cannot describe. We ordered my favorite Indian dish, chicken chilli, and garlic naan which were both exceptional. I would have taken pictures to include in my review but the food was SO FRIGGEN GOOD that I couldn't put my fork down long enough to take pictures. We also got chai, which is my favorite hot drink, and that too was very, very good. They even gave us an extra container of chai which gave us both 1.5-2ish cups of chai. Good news! Little India now delivers up to 8 miles from the restaurant! I will be returning soon for their buffet. This restaurant is right up there with Taste of India in West Hartford and Bollywood in Glastonbury, which I also love. YUM!!!! read more
