They do require kids to wear grippy socks. We didn't come prepared, but they had them available for just $1.99. I did notice a few kids without them, so it doesn't seem heavily enforced. Also, parents will need to remove their shoes. One of the best parts was that there's no time limit on play, and they allow in-and-out access, which makes it really easy if you're juggling errands or a toddler's schedule. The play area was clean and bright, and I had never really been inside an establishment that was quite like this. It's an excellent idea (and business model, I'm sure). I feel like Playroom Cafe fills a gap of having an indoor place where your kid(s) can socialize with others, but for the parents/adults, you have a comfortable place to sit, relax, socialize with others parents, or catch up on work emails or whatever things you'd like to do (they have wifi) and a cafe that serves drinks and sandwiches. And of course, it's a great place to throw an amazing birthday party all year long. Since we came as guests for a birthday party, we didn't pay admission but I looked at the rates and it was $17 for a kid (adult admission free with a kid). The check-in process was smooth (cubbies for shoes at the entrance, socks required) and an attendant greets you with an iPad to e-sign a few waivers. Easy peasy. There was a ball pit, and kid-sized kitchen area with pantry items, slides, things to ride like little trucks and trikes, a jumping contraption (like a mini trampoline but replace the trampoline with a giant inner tube that kids stand on, and kids can hold on to bars while they jump. Probably much safer than an actual trampoline, and my toddler LOVED this thing. There was also a play section for kids under 2 which was perfect for us. We ended up hanging out in this area (extra padded play area, extra padded slide and steps) for maybe 15 minutes, before my kid wanted to explore something else. All to say, this place was great as a birthday party guest, and I can see myself throwing a party here for my kiddo one day. There was a private and semi-private party room, and the play areas are open to paying customers, whether you're there for a party or not. I love that this is in Naperville, another really great kid-friendly spot for the family.

There are two areas where height is restricted to protect little ones from larger, more aggressive kiddos. The indoor basketball court and soccer field are a nice touch. Since this place opened in 2025, everything looks well maintained. Hyper Kidz loses a couple stars because... - I never saw anyone cleaning. - The visibility is terrible if you're a parent trying to track your kid outside the height-restricted areas. - While they have stools and ledges for parents to sit within the play area, the ledges face *away* from the main play structure, so it's not like you can look over your laptop to glimpse your kids from time to time - you're usually facing away from them. - The stools are too low to the ground and they have no back, so it's uncomfortable to sit for extended periods. - There was one (one!) employee working an enormous check-in line when I arrived at 12:18 p.m. on the Saturday after Christmas. Good lord, get her some help. - The bathroom situation is a disaster. As parents fill their water bottles, water spills all over the floor between the bathrooms. (Invest in one of those great water refill stations they have at O'Hare, Hyper Kids!) There's a weird bin with plastic booties you can put on to wear into the bathroom, but the trash bin for them outside the bathrooms was overflowing. - The entry area is pathetically small for how many people are here. Just a handful of tables (all covered in food leftovers). Of all the kids' play centers in the area I've been to, Ball Factory in Mount Prospect is the best staffed and most well-maintained. My kids are currently getting hot and sweaty somewhere inside Hyper Kidz, but I can't see them and they occasionally return to me to report that some kid hurt them or some hag of a mom yelled at them. I cannot see or prevent this because I cannot run laps around an enclosed play structure to try to keep tabs on them. But my kids seem to be having fun, so that's nice.
