First off, you should only come here for the meats. From past experience and even today my pork has been cool very good. Could be more tender, but nonetheless good product. I came today for ribs and to my surprise saw that they had a special going on, $1.25/bone! To be fair, you won't find a deal like that elsewhere in the area. Customer service on the other hand, is a reason why I will no be returning to this location. My server this afternoon, who was actually the assistant manager, took my order. After ordering 12 bones for what I thought was a great deal considering the advertisement of the deal mentioned above was placed on every table in the store. When I received my bill, I was surprised by the price and that the advertised deal was not added to my ticket. When I asked my server when paying about why the price was much more than it should have, she assumed that I wanted the regular menu priced deal that includes two sides. After telling her I came for the deal, my server concluded that "next time we'll be on the same page." If you ever plan to come here for the rib deal on Monday, never ask for sides with your ribs or you be charged nearly double the amount of what you were expecting. Also, never assume management/servers will be on the "same page", it just doesn't work that way here. read more

Horrible service. Sat at the table for 45 minutes (6:20 to 7:05) before the manager came out and told us our order had never been put in. Had them pack it up, didn't get it until 7:15, then when I got it home it was still wrong. This has always been our family's go-to BBQ place but I'll be switching to another location. They're no longer willing to add cheese to their side of fries for a slight up charge, but making you pay $6.00 for cheese fries. Management was not willing to budge on the decision and had an attitude. It's a piece of cheese that probably cost 5 cent. read more

Last Saturday, I called Little Richard's & ordered 6 lbs. of chopped barbecue pork for a gathering. I arrived at the restaurant in 25 minutes & my order was ready, which included slaw & sauce. Excellent barbecue. They have the hickory smoked as well as the Lexington style sauce. The pulled pork and ribs are delicious. It's Monday so the special is ribs at $1.25 a bone. Ingot the pulled pork platter too. You'll get tons of food so don't plan on eating the rest of the day. Prices are very reasonable especially for the quality and quantity of the food. Oh, and the pork fritters are sooo good. Like a hush puppy with cheese inside. I could've made a meal out of those babies. I was in the area for a conference, and managed over the course of 2 days to go twice, so that tells you something. Ambiance is country family friendly. Wait staff is young but attentive. My go-to is always pork; you can get it chopped (I did) chunked or sliced. It is served with E NC BBQ. Those of you who are from NC already know this, so for the rest of you, Eastern NC BBQ sauce is thin and vinegar based as opposed to thick and ketchup based like you find in GA. Kudos to Little Richards that they put enough on to flavor the meat, but they don't drown or overwhelm it, so good job there guys. The meat itself had a nice smoke to it - no complaints. Also tried the mac and cheese, turnip greens, hush puppies, and green beans (remember, went twice). The greens didn't do much for me, but I enjoyed the mac and cheese and green beans. Hush puppies were a winner, and you get a LOT. The only thing I didn't care for was the blackberry cobbler. The berry part was good, but I didn't care for the cobbler part. As a first time customer, I like the ambiance of the small restaurant. It definitely had that hometown BBQ joint. I ordered the South Carolina Smoked Chicken. The chicken was very fresh, being both hot and tender. The sauce was also very good, although I opted for the Hickory BBQ sauce over the Carolina Gold. Both sides were hot and fresh and had that home cooked look and taste. The hush puppies were crispy and delicious. Our waitress was very nice and personable. We ate lunch here on 6/18 on our way to the Beach Music Festival in nearby Lewisville, NC. I picked Little Richard's after doing a Yelp search and I'm very glad I did. FYI - I've learned they also have locations in Yadkinville and Mt. Airy. As we drove up, we saw the neat, well kept building shaped and painted just like the iconic red and white barn. There were quite a few cars but parking was no problem. Inside is a fairly open, square floor plan with somewhere around 25 or 30 tables. There's a counter at the front to pay your tab and order to go or bulk bbq items but its a seat yourself place. (We weren't sure of this at first as the sign is hard to notice). The decor is one of those random looks of license plates and other items Americana. It's clean and organized and isn't over the top in terms of showiness. Service: After we sat ourselves, it took a few minutes for a server to come by and we were beginning to think we must have broke the seating rules but a friendly server did bring us our menus and took our drink orders. I think they were just a little busy at that moment and it took a minute to catch up to us. The rest of the service was great and Victoria, our primary server, was very friendly and prompt the rest of the meal. Food: This was so worth the drive from Greensboro. The menu includes the staples such as chopped and sliced pork on the bun, plate and tray, 1/3 lb burgers, chicken, ribs, chili and Brunswick stew. It also has some uniqueness as well including beef brisket (buns, plates and trays), "toasted" hot dogs, corn dogs, salads and even a choice of chicken wraps. My girlfriend, being a rib addict, jumped right for the half rack plate which comes with hush puppies plus two sides - she picked homemade chips and the mac-n-cheese ($11.49). I went with the bbq beef sandwich w/caramelized onions, hickory sauce and bbq slaw ($4.79) and the toasted hot dog ($1.79) just because I had never heard of that before (you can get a 12 incher for $2.79). Wow, all were very good! My brisket sammy was so tasty with the smoked beef flavor nicely front and center and only complimented by the grilled onions and slaw. The toasted hot dog (which I got with mustard, onions, chili but w/o the slaw) comes to you after being in the broiler and having the bun toasted while the goodies are on it. I'd call it interesting but it adds little to the effect (and comments from dorks like me). The flavor of the chili was good but the mustard on this one drowned out the meat flavor so the brisket was my favorite of the two. The ribs were great! They were not fall-off-the-bone ribs, which I know a lot of people say is a must, but I actually prefer a little firmness and they pulled cleanly off the bone regardless. The combination of robust smoke and sweetness was excellent. I'm very impressed with these ribs and will definitely come back for more! As for the sides, the hush puppies are the easy winner. Though a little small, they are firm and chewy with a great onion taste and the serving size is more than adequate. There are probably at least 15 choices of sides so all appetites should be accounted for. Value: I think the prices are very reasonable. I've had less expensive bbq in the area but I haven't liked them as much as this place. Overall, if this place was in Greensboro, we'd be here a lot. As it is, now that we found it we'll definitely hit it on our way to places in western NC. Food: 8/10, Service: 8/10, Value: 7/10; Atmosphere 7/10 read more

What makes this place a solid joint is the straight up southern hospitality. Came passing through with my family all the way from California and yet we felt right at home. Obviously the food was delicious as well with a couple stand out signature items. The ribs, brisket, hush puppies, and Carolina sauce are a home run. You will not be disappointed with these items. I have been eating at Little Richards since I was a kid. The Clemmons location has a bigger menu than the original. The smoked chicken drum sticks are a favorite. I have come to believe the smell outside a barbecue joint will tell you how good it will taste. Little Richards in Clemmons never has that amazing hickory smoke smell. Nor does the barbecue have that flavor. Unlike the original on country club. The ribs, chicken, and sides are great. Just wish the Q have a more smoky flavor. read more
